    Chili

I had turkey chili tonight. I had probably 3-4 oz of it before my tummy said that's enough. How fast did you eat? Something like chili or soup you'll get more down if you eat fast, I bet.
  2. Sleeved 9/5 and I'm down 35 lbs as of yesterday. :-)

Does Anyone Have Bcbs Of Il?

Hi there, once the insurance coordinator got them a complete file (this took 3 weeks) I had my decision within a week. GOOD LUCK!!!

    Diuretics

You definitely need to clear this with your doctor. I take a water pill for my blood pressure and per doctors orders haven't taken it since the day before surgery because of the dehydration risk. I'm hoping to never have to take it again!

    Chinese Buffet

Yep! It's so funny, they get so annoyed when I come get lunch for less than $4. :-)
  6. Thank you for sharing, this is something I looked for a lot on YouTube. Incision size/placement is definitely dependant on your surgeon. My incisions have different placement than yours and all but one are a good deal smaller in size. I have an incision right above my navel that is horizontal and about the size of yours. The incision for the drain is the smallest of them all, which I thought was interesting.
  7. I was sleeved 9/5 and I'm doing pretty good. I've thankfully had a good recovery. On Tuesday, I had my first postop check in and everything looked good. I was moved to soft food as well. I feel mostly normal other than my big incision over my navel is still tender and I'm having what may be intestinal gas that the gas x strips aren't helping at all. I'm going to pick up some pills tomorrow and may also call the nurse just to ask her opinion. I'm so glad to be on the losers bench. Good luck to you all!!
  8. Me and you both, girlfriend. This apple wants to be just about ANY other shape. LOL

    Lets Talk About S-E-X

I'll probably make it to the weekend (around 10 or so days post op) before I attack my husband. LOL Intimacy is important to both of us. We are told whenever we are comfortable after 5 days. Take it slow and have fun!

    Lapbandtalk.com

I've read plenty of posts here that say some pretty low-hitting things about the RNY and the Lap-Band. People try to validate their choice by discounting the others. *shrug*

    Eating Badly

No judgement here! I fell deeeeep into "last meal syndrome". My last Nutrition Class I gained 12 lbs! The first time I had any gain at all since November of last year. My dietician pulled me to the side and went off (nicely, sorta) on me. LOL She looked me dead in the eye and said "you're only digging the hole deeper for yourself. this weight you're putting on isn't going to come off as easily as it's piling on.". I didn't eat perfectly after that, but it helped to snap me out of that whole "OMG I'm never going to have this again so I need to gorge myself on it" that I was doing. It was bad, bad, bad.
  13. My leak test was done in the OR as well...they did an endoscopy. i thought they didn't do one at all since it wasnt a separate procedure later. Makes sense to me to do it while you're still in there. I cringe thinking about having to be put back under if they find a problem. Yikes! When I asked the surgeon about it, he said it just started to not make sense to do an expensive test that distressed his patients when he wasn't finding any leaks. Sent using VST
  14. Congratulations on being on the losers bench now. :-) I hope you continue to feel better!!! I was sleeved the same day, good luck to you! Sent using VST
  15. Every recovery is different, remember that. I'm a few days out and my recovery has been so good. Not a lot of pain at all. I am struggling with eating/drinking but it's because I'm really trying not to vomit so I'm being super cautious with how much I take in. Someone said it in another post and I remembered it....people don't post about their good/easy recoveries a ton. Maybe because they want to have compassion for those that have bad recoveries (it may feel like you're bragging or whatever). If you look around a little though, there are threads where people talk about having great recoveries with no issues. Try to stay positive....hang in there. :-) Sent using VST

    Stomach Size

Agreed with Enigma. Telling someone they are wrong for following their doctor's guidelines is...interesting. I came home from the hospital on pureed foods. My surgeon feels strongly about progressing to real food quickly but safely so the diet is nutritionally sound. He doesn't understand or agree with weeks of liquids only pre or post op, but I certainly am not going to tell someone else who does follow that plan that they are doing something wrong - especially if its from their doctor. Anyway! LOL to the original question, the only thing that stood out to me is the 12 oz of Protein shake at a time. How does your tummy feel after that? I can drink about 4 oz and it's rumble city. I'm a few less days than you though. You're doing great with your water/liquids!!

    Horrible Nausea.... Help

Your doc needs to give you something for the nausea. I was given Zofran (i think) via IV when I having dry heaves the day of and after surgery. It is a normal reaction to the anesthesia/pain meds, but it isn't good for you to heave or wretch for days and days. One of the provisions of being released was that nausea was controlled. I hope you feel better very soon. Edit: I completely missed where you said you're on meds for it. Sorry! Ignore me! :-)
  18. Hey there! We're date twins. I too had nothing at all the first day but that dumb wand. The patient care tech threatened to take them from me because I was sucking/chewing on them. LOL Otherwise, I feel pretty good too. This gas is a mutha! My goodness! I don't have much incision pain at all just sore on the inside. I was trying not to get the script for Norco fille but I think I'll need to.
  19. You know, when I first started the process, my insurance company (BCBS) required a 6 month waiting period. The Center of Excellence that I am having my procedure at has a program that takes at least 4-6 months to complete. I started this process in November and have my surgery tomorrow. In some ways it feels like it's been for-e-ver but in other ways I feel like going through the process taught me so much about myself as well as made sure I am going into this eyes wide open, as prepared as possible which is a clear difference between some people who didn't have to go through that process. I feel like I'm on a soapbox (sorry!) but honestly in hindsight I am very glad I wasn't able to get this done quickly. I needed this time to start getting my head together. :-)
  20. Good luck! Sending good thoughts to you!!

    Explain Your Name!

Mine is simple. B and K are my daughters initials and I'm their mama. Or their maaaaaaaamaaaaaaaaa. LOL I think some people think I'm saying I'm from Brooklyn. Nope. :-)
