  1. I wouldn't tell him, but I would make sure until Wednesday I was extra diligent on the clear liquids.
  2. Nice job! I had surgery 4/10/12 and have lost 73.
  3. Yes, I did the same thing. In reality, yes, you COULD do it without the surgery. You could lose weight, then life starts happening again and it all comes back. For me, the sleeve FORCED me into a life change. I needed that. I was queen of losing 30-40 lbs and then gaining back 50-60. I have now lost 73 lbs and feel great!
  4. I find most Protein shakes disgusting - but I have a few that I really like: Syntrax Matrix Mint Cookie - mix with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk - 24g protein Dymatize Elite Rich chocolate Dymatize Elite Cafe Mocha I like to mix 1/2 scoop of the chocolate & 1/2 scoop of the mocha with 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk. It is really good and 23g of protein
  5. Maybe you need to add in some carbs to your daily diet. Eat small "meals" throughout the day - every 2-3 hours to keep your blood sugar stable. Try to eat healthy carbs (yogurt, milk, nuts, etc) and not junk carbs (flour, sugar, etc).
  6. I have only gotten sick 1 time and that was the day after surgery. I wouldn't let that be a big worry for you. *Most* of the time, vomitting isn't a problem for sleevers. Just take it easy. Eat slowly and stop at the first sign of being full (you will learn to recognize this quickly).
  7. Thanks everyone.. My carbs are very low - I keep them below 40 for the day. I need to be patient. I know my body is reshaping itself because my clothes keep getting bigger.
  8. I was sleeved April 10. I was rockin on the weight loss (69 lbs so far!) until about 3 weeks ago. Now my scale won't budge. I am stuck. It is getting so frustrating. I am getting all my Protein, staying around 800 calories per day (never above 950) and exercising (elliptical and walking). Am I done? I still have a long way to go (at least 60 lbs left). I need some encouraging..
  9. Wow - I am really sorry about your dad. I have no advice that will help, but I will pray for peace for your family.
  10. My favorites are Dymatize Elite Cafe Mocha & Rich Chocolate. I can also drink Unjury Chocolate Splendor.
  11. Wylers Chicken Bouillion cubes Sugar free jello / pudding Protein shakes Crystal lite
  12. My first suggestion is to start tracking your calories on MyFitnessPal. You might be eating more than you realize. Start there. Keep track of everything that goes in your mouth - otherwise it is easy to eat too many calories.
  13. Everyone is so different with this. I had very little pain - just felt sore like I did a thousand crunches. I was tired, but not to the point that I couldn't take care of my kids. By a week and a half I felt good. I was back to work at 2 weeks. I think you will be fine. Just have the 11 & 9 year old help out with the 5 year old and you should be fine. Good luck!
  14. Thanks. You are right. It is just so easy to get caught up in the number game. Thanks for the reality check.
  15. I need stall breaker tips. I am getting frustrated. Getting all my protein, all my water, staying under 800 calories per day.. HELP! The scale hasn't moved for a week and a half. Please tell me I am not done!!!
  16. My dr has me taking it twice per day.
  17. I am almost 3 months out and currently getting anywhere from 600-800 calories per day. I haven't yet gotten to 1000 calories. What target calorie range do you try to stay in?
  18. I am still struggling with eating slow. I am 2 months out. Tell me your tricks/tips that help you slow down.
  19. Use wonton wrappers instead of noodles for lasagna. Look at emilybites.com for ideas for her "cupcakes".
  20. How far out were you when you tried salad? How did it go for you? I am 8 weeks out tomorrow and I am dying for a salad.
  21. For my pre-op, I mixed one packet Carnation instant breakfast no sugar added with one scoop protein powder and skim milk. I did that 4 times per day. That gives you the nutrients you need.
  22. YES! I have said it since week 1.
  23. Hands down, the worst part of this journey was the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I thought I would die - but I didn't. My advice is to do tons of research and decide which one (if any) is best for you. Choose a doctor you are confident in and go for it. You will not be sorry!!
