  1. I seriously thought this surgery would be no big deal for me, I am young and a fighter. However, I was WRONG. I feel like I have gotten the crap kicked out of me! I was told I wasn't breathing properly in the hospital and while recovering the nurses were literally yelling at me to breath. I tested negative for sleep apnea but I think the test was wrong. I am afraid to fall asleep now because I will quit breathing , also my lungs hurt. My stomach hurts and so does my esophagus, everytime I sip I have a huge gas/growl that comes up, and it isn't a burp it just is angry. I am not feeling nauseous, just sick and HUNGRY. Have you guys gone through the same thing? I hope it gets better, I am almost regretting what I did.
  2. Thank you so much for your answer, I did hear back from the doctor today and she said it was fine!
  3. I was worried about this too, but the doctors office said your first weigh in is the number they submit to the insurance company. Once your approved, your approved! Good Luck!!
  4. Hi, I have chronic back spasms and not being in NSAIDS is causing severe pain. I forgot to tell my doctor that I OCC. take flexeril if the spasms get real bad. Does anyone know if the flexeril will interfere with surgery?..
  5. My entire father's side of the family is moribly obese, and no one has ever done anything about it. They all claim to know the secret of losing weight, but they don't. I told my father about the surgery and he like I am sure a lot of other people said, well it is how much you eat and blah blah blah.. This coming from a man who has been obese most of his entire adult life. He said that he would rather weigh a zillion pounds then have the risk of death in surgery. I tried to explain to him that with my chronic knee pain, and back pain my quality of life is relativity low right now. It is hard not to have his support but at the same time I know he just doesn't want to loose me. I am so worried because if my weight loss journey is successful I will be the only thin (HOPEFULLY) person in my entire family. Maybe I will open a door to my other family members and they will follow i my foot steps? I am very happy to have the support of my mother and bestie, and my work friends. I
  6. Thanks everyone for your response. I am still in A LOT of pain from the endoscopy and can not eat with out severe pain, not the way I wanted to spend my last two weeks with my entire stomach Oh well I guess it is prep for the rest of my life.
  7. The reason I ask is because I told my surgeon's secretary and general doctor that my PCP's office recommended an upper endoscopy and they both said good that way you won't need the upper GI done. Well today I went for my pre op appointment and the physicians assistant wants and upper GI done on me. I am SOO annoyed because the endoscopy was done with hardly any (10mgs of valium whoopie) sedation, I was retching and vomiting (the small amt of liquid I had in me) the entire time and today 1 day after I am in severe pain and continuing to vomit. I really don't want to have another procedure done if it is unnecessary.
  8. It seems like everyone I talk to has to follow some pre op diet. I just had my pre op appointment today and I asked if there is any liquid diet, or Nasty crap I have to drink and they said no. Has anyone else had not to follow a pre op diet? I obviously am not going to go out and eat McDonalds, but it just seems weird.
  9. Hi, I have BCBS of MA and no they do not cover it. My surgeon said that they will prob cover it after several appeals, which is what I am intending to do.
  10. Hi everyone! I never thought I would even consider surgery for my weight condition, but as time goes on I keep getting more and more medical problems. I am very excited to think of my life as a thin person as I am 29 and have NEVER been a healthy weight!
  11. Hi I am new to the forums and I am wondering if anyone has every encountered an experience when their start weight is above the BMI >40 and the diet before surgery puts them in the "not covered" category. I have no major medical issues, except PCOS, GERD, Severe back pain and knee pain, and I am afraid after my pre surgical diet I will be under the covered weight limit. Maybe I should pack on the lbs before my consult?? What do you think?
