Feeling a bit desperate as have an injury. Looking for as much help as possible, could do with some more MFP contacts.

I want to know the honest truth of how all my fellow oct 2011 vsg friends r doing?!?!

I agree. I'm over two yrs out... Gaining.. It's much harder now...
Hi everyone. I'm now over 5 years out and I have plenty of sleeved friends who HAVE gained weight. Some, significantly, others not too much. Do not think sleevers don't gain weight, because they can and do. Of my group of friends (10 or so), 2 did not have much success at all. And what I mean is they lost about 50lbs and started regaining and are still obese today. One of those 2 is further out than me and the other is 3 years out. As for the rest of the group, they have ALL gained weight to one degree or another with the exception of myself and a man. All the rest are women. And here's the difference. The man I'm referring to has an extremely active job and as for me, I still weigh and measure and log my food and exercise a lot. So there you have it. The minute my friends got back into the pleasure trap of the standard American diet, well you guessed it ...they gained. And, by the way, the one gal in our group that has an RNY, has remained successful as well and she's further out than me. But she's strict on her food. I'm just telling it like it is, the further out you get the easier it is to gain. And it happens to a lot of us. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I want everyone to be prepared for a life long fight. A fight we now have a chance at winning! Be smart with your tool.

Thanks for the reply, I suggest the pre op counseling! I did not have that n should've done that.
I'm regretting I let myself gain 50 pounds back!!! I dunno why I even did this surgery if it made no difference in my eating habits!!!! I'm so mad right now!!!!
Did you have any sort of pre-op counseling or preparation for the ways that sleeves can/can't make a difference? When you say it made no difference in your eating habits, do you mean it didn't change the things you can eat--or it didn't change the way you feel toward food?
I ask because my surgeon's practice requires pre-op psych counseling--but I know not everyone's does. I knew going in that I'd have to make a lot of "head changes", and they were much harder than having the surgery! You must still be eating a lot less than you did two years ago, though, right?
Don't get discouraged, you can get those extra pounds off if you make all the changes you need to. It won't be easy, but if you push yourself and have a good support system, you can do it. *hugs*

not necessarily.Do it. Just make sure to get a great surgeon. Do all the follow ups and you will regret only one thing that you did not do it sooner.

not sure where u r getting your info, but you are wrong.I love this, and I'm glad to see its not common for sleevers to gain. I feel like I see much more info on bypass people eventually gaining and not quite getting to goal

thank you! I gained it back two yrs post surgery. I wish you the best thank you
How far out from surgery are you now? What time frame did you regain? I regained 27 pounds over a couple years but took it off from June-Oct with an addl 10 pounds. It's MUCH harder relosing the 2nd time around.K 199 as of yesterday. Need to get back to the 150 I was post surgery. So I have been to the gym twice this week doing the bike. N rowing machine a little bit. N some easy weights. I started eating only egg whites fat free plain yogurt asparagus seaweed Protein shake one apple n and some carrots. Lets see what I will weigh in one week... I hope lower 190's!!!!!
I'm hoping you are putting a good plan in place now. We had success with 5:2. Keep at it! You can do it!!!

Here we go! Day one approx 190lb. Goal is to get back to 150 for now... I will start with a Protein filled Breakfast and tons of Water today. I'm going to attempt to skip the coffee... For lunch at work i will have chicken breast. I have packed my gym bag for after work. I will hopefully start with the elliptical and finish with the bike for a goal of 40 minute workout. I will eat veggies for dinner. No snacking on carbs today at all-mini cucumbers!!! Wish me luck! There's no more excuses I will get back to what I was post surgery and stop this sabotage!!! ????????????
