    16 Mos Out...disappointed

I did go look at the packages and there are some beef jerky that only has 9 grams of protein per serving and then there are some that have 10,and 13. but there are several that are15 per serving just like the turkey.,so I was wrong, but turkey is better

    Thyroid Levels

My surgeon said that this surgery does not"fix" thyroid problems, that still has to be controlled with meds,so I wouldguess you still need to have them checked by your pcp

    How Much Time Off Work

i took 2 weeksoff, and im glad i did,I couldnt even put my own socks and shoes on unitl the thurs before I went back to work. The firstcoupleof days I was exhaustedafter workand Ipretty much have a sit down job,but i do get up and down frequently, and then I had to stand for 2 hrs straight which was really uncomfortable.so it depends on each individual,so what you feel comfortable doing

    Water Flavoring, What's Your Favorite?

Love the fruit punch flavor in the crystal light, and unfortunately unless it has real sugar .most everything else has aspartame.I really like the vitamin water zero lemonade flavor no aspartame, but it has reb a,probably the same, but like you I will drink more water if its flavored
  11. your dr might not require the 90 days,(which is 3 months by the way) but its your insurance that is the master here.its what they require for approval
  12. azquilter92

    Applesauce

I was only allowed fluids for the first 2 weeks then mushy soft foods after that, depends on the surgeon
  13. I think he/she means that no bloodwillbe given to the patient. Are you Jehovahs Witness? I dont think you get blood during this surgery, unless there are complications, but you need to discuss this with your surgeon and let them know of your belief system

    Upset

the first time I tried i tried to get approved and it was for a lap band about 3 years ago the same thing happened to me.I was missing 1 year of a weigh in at my pcp, never mind that I have 20+ years with this same pcp and plenty of records, but it wasnt in the 5 years time span that they required,so they denied my approval,i was so disgusted i gave up until later, and early this year and got approved, but this time for the sleeve,Im glad i waited to go thru the process again.

    Minimun Protein

60 to80 daily there is actually aformula based on how much you currently weigh, to determine how much protein to take in daily, butI dont know what it is.They discussed itat our support goup one ,onth and the dr told us the formula, but i wasnt paying attention to it

    Oprah Kriste Ally

but didnt Star deny having anything done at first? then finally admittedit, unlike Al Roker who was very public about his Gastric Bypass
  18. I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 2 month postop(surgery march 20) and I have lost 40 lbs, a total of 55 since october,pre-op. And now I can eat cooked veggies along with meat and still can have soft mushy foods,so I am content with how much ive lost and look forward to losing more.
  19. I hate when they say you took the easy way out. There is nothing easy about it,it is a tool that you are given to use along with diet and exercise to help with weight lose.but like anything else you use the tool wrong its not going to work

    4 Days Out

hmmm, any contact from youur dr since back in er? I wouldnt concentrate on protien drinks so much as I would just plain liquids to stay hydrated, like sugar free popscicles, water with crystal light, staying hydrated is the most important thing
  21. azquilter92

    I'm Sleeved.

sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, broth all counts as clear fluids and keeps you hydrated, the first few days I lived on popsicles and water
  22. azquilter92

Why Did You Choose The Sleeve?

I was going to have the lap band, but the dr i was seeing, closedup shop and moved upto phx,and im not about making all those trips back andforth,so they sent my file to dr.Monash and Welle office here in tucson, the best thing that has ever happened to me! The 1st dr all he did was lap band, nothing else. I had gone to a support group help by Dr Monash and talked to him after the meeting, telling him I was going to his office and why(the other dr leaving) and he told to "keep my mind open" so when I saw my surgeon, and he explained all three peocedures, the down time was all the same(which was important to me) I chose the sleeve.and I am very happy that I did,and would do it again in a heartbeat.I guess its normal to be scared before an operation,I personally was never afraid,i knew the procedure ,backwards and forwards, what to expect and I fully trusted my surgeon, and I guess the rest is history
  23. I told my family of course and a few selected friends and that was all, when I had the surgery i used vacation time instead of sick pay, now as people noticed the change I tell them
