3 Weeks Out, Only Lost 4 Lbs In 12 Days
Expecting a pound per day to continue is probably not very realistic, even this early out. That equates to 30 pounds per month, 365 pounds in a year. Many would love to see 4 pounds in 12 days, myself included!! You're doing fine. Patience!!

Help For The Dreaded Facial Hair?
I took an altogether different route. I have been plagued with dark facial hair since puberty at 11. Plus a dark unibrow. After years of trying this and that and nothing working to my satisfaction, I started electrolysis. It was extremely painful, left mild swelling after each treatment, took about 1.5 years of weekly treatments to the tune of about $3,000. Totally worth it all. Every last hair, gone forever. Baby butt smooth, whereas before my hubby said before the treatments it was like kissing a man with razor stubble. My motivation? Fear of lying in a nursing home with all that hair growing on my face and no daughters to take care of it!!! What do sons know about such things?

I'm Still Hungry... And Miserable
I am over four months out, and I stay hungry. I mean stomach hunger, not head hunger. I've always been a hungry person, one of my sons is the very same way. I've been on a PPI since the beginning, doubled the dose, switched meds, nothing helps except eating. Sigh... the good news is it doesn't take much to make the hunger go away for a while. And, the hunger is a kitten compared to the lion it used to be.

Should I Tell The Inlaws About My Surgery?
To each his own, but the last thing I want is to keep a mental tally of who knows/who doesn't know, what did I tell this one or what did I tell that one. I told my family, friends and coworkers, basically everone in my life. I didn't make a big deal about it, just gave them the facts. My husband, sons and best friend were all very supportive from the beginning, and that was all the support I needed. At work there were a couple of naysayers in the beginning, and now they have become supporters. Maybe it's my advanced age combined with my own life experiences, but I really don't care what people think or say about me! I just knew they would notice the difference in my eating habits and weight, and I'm just too old and busy to make up stories! Good luck with your surgery and with those in-laws!!

I was really worried about the Prilosec and that gallbladder capsule, whatchacallit, but I had no problems with any of the pills or capsules.

So The Hubby Wants To Go To My Medical Review?
Mine went to any meeting he could. I really did appreciate it. He's been my best support. This surgery drastically affects the life of the spouse too.

Body Shape Changes
Yes. I was hip and thigh-heavy. Had a terrible time getting pants to fit the fullness under a relatively small waist. Now, my butt is flat and my thighs are thin. And I have a protruding gut. Dang it.

Plication?
I went in thinking I wanted the Lap Band, then when I saw how many folks were having theirs removed, I moved on to wanting plication. I was in dread fear of having such a large portion of my stomach permanently removed. My surgeon had done a total of 24 plications, but had done thousands of sleeves. He was quite willing, but he did say the plication was once thought to be reversible, but history is proving that not to be the case. So what's the point? And most importantly, all the workers at the clinic told me behind their hands in whispers not to do the plication. When I asked why, they said it just doesn't produce the results the sleeve does, just don't do it. Nuff said. I got the sleeve.

Goal Weight?
My surgeon never gave me a goal weight. I set my own at 150, but as I'm losing, I'm starting to rethink it. I think 160 may be ok. I'll just have to wait and see... ...but I'll know it when I see it!!

70 Yrs Old? Dr?
I'm in Kentucky and my doctor performed a bypass on a patient in her 80's. That's no help to you where you live. But the bigger issue is likely to be relative health than age.

Chewing 30 Times
I don't chew any differently than I did before, and only made the effort at all the first week I had solids. It just hasn't been a problem for me. On the other hand, I do take smaller bites than I did before.

Trying To Be Prepared
The test I took was utterly ridiculous. It was pages and pages long, but thankfully it did not take a full three hours to complete. It asked the same questions in several forms, and for so many, there simply was not a good answer. For example, "How has your drug problem affected your life...?" None of the multiple-choice answers were "Not al all" or "I don't have a drug problem". Some form of that stupid question presented itself at least a dozen times. And that is just one example. I won't go into how many ways it asked about my non-existent suicidal tendencies. In the end, when I met with the guy, he said he had a problem with my results, which showed that I had a tendency to downplay my problems and that I saw myself as a strong go-to person. Well, yeah, I am a strong go-to person. And well, no, I don't dwell on the negative. After a very short heated exchange, he okayed me. Try not to worry about it. Just go in there and do your best. I don't remember seeing on this forum that someone was disqualified due to the psych evaluation (that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, I just happened not to see it). Best of luck!!!

I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!
I feel at the same time incredibly blessed and guilty. My experience has been just a breeze and without serious incident. Best of luck and may it come quickly to all who have it otherwise.

Surgery Tomorrow! High Blood Pressure.
My blood pressure was always at least that high, even though I was on four bp meds. But surgery went ahead, and afterwards, my bp shot up even higher thanks to all the IV fluids. I had a hard time convincing them that this always happens to me, but it would subside once I got off the fluids. It did. I'm happy to report that even though I am still on the same four meds, now my numbers are well within normal!

Chills At Night
I had chills at night for the first several weeks. And still do but not to the same degree as early on. I did run a slight fever for about two weeks. The cause was never identified, even though they checked for infection and leak. So check your temp!
