    sugery APPROVED!!

hi Alishaba; i have federal blue cross blue shield also. i am so glad to find someone that has the same insurance as me. when was your 3rd dietician appointment, i am wondering how long it took from that date to get approval. my 3rd appointment is November 8th and my surgery date is december 1st so i hope that is enough time to get approval and keep my date. congratulations to you. hope you find out your date soon.
  4. i noticed that my surgeon did not mention anything about his fill schedule. will he put any in during the surgery, when will you get your first fill and what size lap band will you have. it seems like alot of people know what size (how many cc's). maybe you will find that out after the surgery, but i guess it would be good to know as much before as possible. good luck.
  5. steve that is funny, getting on the floor has always been manageable, but the getting up part is the messy one. how about looking at the scale and not having to bend over to see the number and actually liking the number.

    Wife is getting band tomorrow

she's probably more excited today but tomorrow it will probably hit her and she will be alittle nervous of the procedure. wish her the best of luck.
  7. 30-days away from surgery day. so excited. 17 more days to eat solids before i start my liquid diet. i am vowing to not gain a pound in the next 17 days.

    December Bandsters!

could you imagine how scared we would be if we didn't have the Lap Band Talk to guide us through the million questions we have? or this support system that you couldn't possibly get from a meeting once a month at the bariatric center. what a blessing each and everyone of you that open up on this forum. THANK YOU!
  9. thank you for opening up to us. if you can't be totally honest on this forum, why be here? we shouldn't sugar coat things. life is not perfect and neither are we. did you mention that during your appointment for clearance with the therapist? insurance would cover that. take advantage of this opportunity. good luck. admitting the problem is half the battle.
  10. hey my friend. i noticed in the 100 positive things post that you mentioned a cream, what is the name of it. skinnyminime also asked. can you give us the name of the cream. something i would love to get rid of. thanks so much for the tip, never heard of that before. you have a great personality! i enjoy your posts.

  11. being able to buy leather boots and not ask "excuse me, do you have these in WIDE CALF" being able to rock sexy lingerie being able to wear a thong and not have i lost in the folds being able to say "I finally got this weight issue under control" and the most important thing to me is go to a doctor with symptom and NOT have it blamed on being overweight. every ailment i have ever had was always blamed on the fact that i was overweight. Thanks Skinnyminime for this. great idea. keep it going. and be able to sit in any chair i want without having to look at it for a few minutes to see if i can fit my ass in it. skinny people just don't realize what we go through in life. we have been a slave to this fat for so long. here's to 2012, it is going to be the start of something beautiful.

    Happy Halloween friends

this is going to be a very busy and hectic weekend so i hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoy all the halloween parties. be careful with all the extra candy in the house though.
  13. dont feel that way, plenty more holidays to come. we didn't get to this point from one holiday splurge. hopefully another 100 years of holidays. : ) I think we are always on the defensive when it comes to our diets. don't be. make a list and weigh (no pun intended) your options. pros and cons. good luck.

    my crack

me too. i work monday through friday 9-5 so i keep in open on my computer. as I am pre-surgery, i enjoy reading and knowing what i should expect after surgery from current bandsters. it is a great resource.
  15. something to consider is that during the holiday week surgeons and staff may not be in for any follow up problems. infection is a risk and what would happen if they are on vacation the week after xmas or Hanukah (spelling?) check with their schedule for the week of and after your surgery to make sure they are there. maybe waiting until after the holiday would be better. some people get alittle depressed after surgery and you may not want to feel depressed for xmas and new years. just something to think about. i was honest with my bosses. i told them in august that i am having this done and it would only work with their support. i told all my coworkers but told them that it stays between all of us. i have to miss my xmas party because of the surgery and i have to be on a liquid diet for thanksgiving, so think about confiding in your boss and ask him to keep it quiet but ask him for his support. good luck in whatever you chose.

    Flu shot anyone!

Last night my husband and i went to CVS for our flu shot. i think november, december and january bandsters should make sure they get theirs. every year i seem to get the flu the week between christmas and new years and since i am getting banded on december 1st, the last thing i want is the flu. also if it is flu season think about how many people in the hospital and doctor's office could be spreading the flu. also you wouldn't want the doctor's to cancel your surgery date if you became sick. we have been waiting so long and it would stink to have to postpone your date. i hate to throw up and i am sure after being banded, that is the last thing i would want to happen. i went to CVS and gave them my blue cross blue shield card and it didn't cost me a co-pay. GET YOUR FLU SHOTS MY FRIENDS!!!
  20. thank you for that. very very inspirational and of course you are right. i think it is going to take a while to learn how to live again without food always being part of every decision. thanks for the support.

    December Bandsters!

    - being able to look at a picture of myself and love it; - being able to look at myself and love me; - being able to walk into a regular store and not say "excuse me miss, where is the plus size section?" - this is a TMI but what the hell, being able to enjoy sex while being on top. did i say that out loud?

    consultation

re-read your post and you had some more questions that i didn't answer. i didn't bring any paperwork with me. the first consultation with the surgeon is informational. you will leave his office with plenty of paperwork. i started a binder and still take it along to all of my appointments. i only had to bring myself and my insurance card.
