  1. Hello All, frome Lee county over by Ft. Benning, Ga. I am just starting the process to get surgery, hoping this all goes fast and smooth!!
  2. Oh congrats that is wonderful news. I am just starting my process and I am in hopes that it goes that smooth and quick. I to have never had surgery and am scared of something going wrong. But the results out weigh the fears as I am afraid of having a stroke or heart issues years down the road. Especially with a family history of health issues. I wish you the best of luck and will place you in my prayers.......so excited for you!!!!
  3. Thanks everyone for the welcome. I am so excited to start the process. I have talked to a friend who had it done and said I would probably qualify as I have high cholesterol and PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrom) which makes me insulin intolerant. My family history is pretty yuck in terms of stroke, heart disease and diabetes. Trying to nip this in the butt now before I end up with major issues. My bmi is around 38 so she said having high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and such will qualify people who dont have a bmi of 40 or over. She is also military. I guess that I will see if I qualify with the cholesterol and pcos.
  4. Hey I am a newbie also. I have an appt. friday with my pcm to get a referral. I am going with the sleeve. I am also a military spouse stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia. I am currently trying to find out what the process is like through tricare and if there are any doctors in the area or if I will have to go to Atlanta to do the surgery. I am pretty excited to get started though. Super excited for you.....good luck! If you find out anything please let me know also would really appreciate it!
  5. O.k. so I have decided after years of dieting and working out with little success to go ahead and make an appt. so try and get a referral for VSG. After much research and coversations I have decided this is my best option. Its not for the fact of looking better but for my long term health. I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this year and high cholesterol. My parents history of heart disease, stroke and diabetes is nothing I want to fool with. This has been a hard decision for me as I didn't struggle with weight until about my mid 20's. So this is the start to my journey. I am a military spouse in the Columbus, Ga area though we live just across the border in Phenix City, Al. Any help through this journey would be great. Thanks and wish me luck......prayers welcome!
