    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was banded 9/27 and had my first fill on 11/8. The fill went ok, a little pain but like others have said, it didn't last long. It was a little tender that day. Thingsxwere going ok, butbthen Friday night at supper (while away on a girls scrapbooking weekend) I ate too fast and got stuck. Spent the better part of an hour in the bathroom, in quire a bit of pain and finally puked a few times (now I know why it's called sliming)...I felt horrible for almost 24 hours. I wanted to cry! I had a "what have I done" moment. Things are better today and I have learned a valuable lesson! I would rather not experience that again!
  3. I got a massage on my collar bone & front pecs. Bit was awesome & really helped that crazy gas pain. It will get better...I promise!! Hang in there!

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was banded 9/27, two weeks ago tomorrow. Can't believers only been two weeks. I go back to work tomorrow. I don't see my dr until 6 weeks post op. The paperwork said liquids for up to two weeks or whenever I felt ready. I started with some mushies thus past week. In fact last night I had thanksgiving meal - mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing and cooked carrots. I ate much much less than I used to. Took really small bites and tried to eat slower. I was the last one finished and had the least amount of food. And it tasted amazing. I've also been eating cheese sticks as a snack. Since I don't seey dr for some time I feel like a bird shoved out of the nest and am forced to fly. It's really great to read about others experiences and what your dr's are telling you. I'm still amazed at the variety of rules/recommendations. I would have expected things to be a little more standards across the board. Oh well, as long as it's working! Oh ya, I'm down 23 lbs since start of pre-op diet but haven't lost an ounce during this last week. Glad I'm not alone! I will be patient!! Or try at least! Lisa

    Gas pains!!!! Help!

That's not good news...day 3-5 were the worst. I've tried heating pad as well. I was really hoping for some miracle cure but truthfully I didn't expect one. Thanks!!!
  6. Ok, I've survived 3 days post-op. In general I don't feel really bad, but these gas pains are killing me. I feel like there's a huge gas bubble just under my breast bone. My collar bone is so very sore from gas. My stomach makes grumbling sounds now & again and that provides a little bit if relief. If I could let out a huge belch I think I would feel awesome. I've been going for a minimum of 4 walks a day for 20-30 minutes each. I've tried gas-x but hate them, they almost make me gag. I'm drinking my water. I've been drinking about 120ml of boost & 1/4 c chicken broth per day. I've also had a few little bites of jello over the last couple of days. I really don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? I haven't taken T3 since yesterday afternoon, don't think they really help with the gas pains. Looking for other suggestions. I plan to try a warm shower tonight since I can take bandages off today & am allowed to shower.

    Where are you from?

I'm from Manitoba, Canada. Was banded 9/27. Lisa.
  8. I can relate to this. It was about 4 days before starting pre-op diet. I awoke around 4am and had this feeling of pure anxiety. My chest wad tight & I was freaking out. I went to work & almost came home because I was having a hard time holding myself together. I know I'm a worrier, but this kind of thing has never happened to me before. I stuck it out at work & when I came home for lunch, my husband was able to put it in perspective for me & really calm me down. I wad saying that my whole life was going to change. His response was, no not your whole life. You're still going to be the same person, you're still going to get up every morning and kiss your kids goodbye, you're still going to going to go to work, etc. He really does have a way of calming me down. Now I'm only 2 days post-op and I don't have any wonderful stories yet, but nor do I have Amy real horror stories either. I know it will be worth it some day and that's what is getting me through, Good luck to you. I hope you can find peace with your decision.

    What to say....

I told my closest girlfriends and immediate family only. I told co-workers I was having surgery but that I didn't want to discuss it. I reassured them that I was fine & didn't have a life threatening illness (at thus point). And that I had to be on a very specialized diet. I told them this the day before starting my 2 week pre-op diet. During that time I got my head wrapped around a lot if things & of course lost weight on that diet so my confidence increased. I decided to fill them in on my last day if work. N Only a few asked me some questions and they seemed really supportive. I'm glad I told them, but I'm happy with the way I went about it. It's what I needed to do for me, at that time. Good luck...go with your gut!

    pain collar bone/neck area

I've tried one of those heating bags you heat up in the microwave, which helped in the evening. But now in the middle of the night, not so much. I tried ice for a but. Now I've got the heating pad on it, but still feel the pain & cNt really sleep. I've put on some relaxation music & am just resting. I'm sure time will help. Thx for the advice. Hanging in.....
  11. Was banded less than 12 hours ago. I did OK,with the exception of this pain in my collar bone and neck on the left side. I am assuming it's the gas shoulder pain everyone talked about, but I can't seem to find any relief. I tried gas-x, T3 (only a 1/2), i've propted myself up on a couple of pillows-don't own a recliner, I've been drinking Water and sleeping on and off. It's 1:30AM so a walk is a little out of the question. Not sure what else to try. It's very painful. Other than that, so far so good. But if you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!
