  1. I am 8 months out and still burping. It's annoying.
  2. cottage cheese, oatmeal, smashed banana with peanut butter *yummy*, hummus, eggs, sweet potato, winter squash,
  3. Congrats! My husband was sleeved on Monday.
  4. My doctor told me not more the 6 g of ADDED sugar per meal. Naturally sugar doesn't count like in fruit.
  5. I have done the same thing with my kids...avoid rides and things at amusement parks. We even left a park earily because I couldn't keep up with the walk due to the knees and feet and the heat! I felt bad because we took 2 hours to get there paid out the nose only to stay for 1 1/2 hours. We didn't even get 1/3 of the way though the park last year. That was it! That was the last straw. I had my sleeve in Feb 2012. We went back to that amusement park in May 2012 and rode every non-water ride we could. It was a great feeling. Kids had a blast and so did I! I felt like a kid again. We stayed for 5 hours! That was the same day my husband said he couldn't wait to follow in my footsteps. (He had to skip a lot of the ridies because of his size). He was justed sleeved on Monday. I can't wait until next summer!!!! We are going back but this time, we are going on the non-water rides and water rides.
  6. My husband just had his on Monday the 22nd. The first 4 days are the hardest. The nurse said that by friday he should be feeling just tender/sore and no extreme pain. Because he is in so much pain, the nurse said to increase the dose and frequency on the pain meds and she'll call in a refill if needed. That really made a difference. Make sure you time your pain meds...don't wait untill you feel pain to take the meds...by then its too late. It takes 30 minutes for pain meds to process. I wish you the best. It will be over before you know it. Mine was 8 months ago and a can barely remember the hard parts. I had to asked my friends and re-read my blog to remind me of how hard it was. After day 4 or 5 it was suddenly soooo much better. That's the great thing about the human body...it doesn't remember pain...thank GOD!
  7. What flavor protein powder? I assuming chocolate?
  8. That sounds so good. I think I will give it a try. Thanks for the idea.
  9. Caffeine also will dehydrate you, which in not what u want in the very beginning because dehydration can be life threatening. I have been caffeine free for 7 years and I had to quit suddenly do to a heart thing. The first two weeks were the worst. I had a constant headache and was really tired. My husband was just sleeved yesterday and was a big Pepsi and Ice tea drinker. He slowly cut his caffeine intake. Started with only having 3 drinks for the first 2 days, then 2 for the next 2-3 days, the 1 for 2-3 days, then he was have half a can and dump the just under a week. The last 3 days he did t have any thing but water. Then he did the 2 week liquid diet stuff. He said that he didn't really have that bad withdrawal but he did get headaches when he switch to the half can.
  10. OMG! Doctor wants me to eat more!!! Really!?!? I am 8 months out. I past my doctors goal by 5 lbs. I know I shouldn't complain but I had the surgery to lose the weight not try to gain it back. I just can't seem to eat enough though. I am suppose to eat 1200 calories but I am lucky to get in 800. Just the smell of food make me feel sick. Anyone got out there been told to gain some back?
  11. My doctor did not want us to eat bread, rice, or pasta for first 12 months. Its to help maximize weight loss during the first year. Your start off with about 4 oz. At 12 months, you should be at 1 cup and thats pretty much it. Some people can't eat white bread, other can eat bread but only toasted. I don't have a issue with white bread but I limit my intake to once or twice a week. One slice only though. In the beginning you cannot have bread, rice, or pasta because it can expand and open you staple line.
  12. Did ur insurance cover any of it? I have an appointment with a surgeon next week. Trying to get an approximate cost. I am 9 months out and trying to plan out for the next 12-18 months for lower body lift and arms and boobs. The doctor said that some insurances cover the skin removal but not a tummy tuck.
  13. Acid reflux is not that big a deal. I take a med with my vitamins and I am good all day. As far as being scared, it normal. Its a big change. Only you can tell if this is right for you. I had a panic attach the morning of my surgery. I had buyers remorse for 6 months after. Now 9 months out, it was the best decision I have ever made.
  14. I don't go to the support meeting although they are offered by my doctor. Its a distance thing. Traffic in Northern Virginia is bad and I have kids in grade school to tend to. I use this website as my support group.
  15. Hi. I am Elle. I am 39 years old. I had my surgery on February 7, 2011. I am 4'11" and I was 208lbs, which may not seem like much to some of you but its still a 40+ BMI. In addition to being obese, I suffered from a life threaten heart condition that was not improving because of my weight. I am happy to report that I have not only met my weight loss goal but I have past is by 6 lbs. My heart is much improved and I no longer have high blood pressure. It was not easy and sometimes I wish I could have done it without the sleeve but I am healthier now than I have ever been.
  16. I went to a wedding 3 weeks ago and people noticed I wasn't eating much. It caught me off guarded and I told them that i was a special dr prescripted diet for a heart condition. Have to watch the sodium and portion sizes. They didn't buy it but at least they didn't focus on me anymore.
  17. If u don't want anyone to know. Just call in sick. Like u have the flu and u don't want to make anyone else sick. Cause I can't fake not having a 4 oz stomach and u don't want to push it this early.
  18. I am 9 months out and I am still burping. Sometimes 5-6 times in a row. It's the only thing that bothers me abou the procedure because it's so embarrassing. I am afraid I will always be like this.
  19. I agress with IsB. Just tell your boss that you are trying to cut back on sugar for health reasons but thanks for the offer.
  20. Actually, I have a really concern about losing too much weight. I have lost 94 pounds in 8 months. I am only 4'11". I have exceeded the doctors goal by 5 lbs. I am went from a size 20 to a size 0 - 00. Yes, I did type double 0. I had spoke to Nut about it. The concern I have is that they want me to eat more but I can only get in a half a cup!!! Which really messes with me because I finally got the eating right thing down to a science and now I have to add more food?!?! I am worried that I am going backwards with the eating habits, gain too much back and not be able to lose again. It really messes with your mind. Plus, I am starting to look sickly. I am still losing just slowly now...like 4 lbs a month. Don't get me wrong I am a lot healthier and extremely happier than I have been in 10 years but people at work keep making comments about my looks...it makes me uncomfortable. I have a followup in 2 weeks hopefully my Nut can rework my diet so that I can maintain where I am. At this rate, I will be 95lb by January...not so healthy.
  21. It happens to everyone. Your body is just trying to hold on to your weight because your calories are low and it thinks your starving. It can't hold on for long. I have stalled 3 times on 6 months for 1-4 weeks. Just came off of my last 3 week stall and boom...I lost 3 lb in 3 days (this Friday, Saturday, and today). Just keep doing your diet and workouts. It will kick into gear.
  22. I had my days where I would regret the surgery in the beginning but things really turned around after month 4. That was about the time my food addiction and head hunger kind of stopped and I started working on my new relationship with food as only a source of fuel and not comfort. Now I am 6 months out. Lost 87 lbs. I am 1 lbs from my doctor's goal. I past my personal goal a month ago. I am really happy now. Sure I miss some things about eating but now when I go out to eat with other people and I see how much they are stuffing their face with foods that are soooo not healthy for you, I get a little sick...like physically sick. I remember doing that same thing and at the time thinking "it tastes so good" and it felt good at the time but an hour later I would be crying about how fat I was or how nasty I felt from just over eating or I had to unbutton my pants just to get comfortable. Now I have a few bites and I am done. Everyone else is leaving the table feeling gross and I am thinking...ha ha...I am still a size 2, XXS and I look hot in these jeans! I still think about food but now I am worried about not getting enough Protein in or making sure I get to 1200 calories today. Just remember, those things that you miss right now…those are the things that made you unhealthy and have surgery in the first place. Everyday gets a little bit better.
  23. I use Premier Nutrition Vanilla Shake and mix in 6 oz of 50 calorie OJ. Tastes like a cremesicle. 30 gm of protein per shake.
