    Help! Can't Eat!

I've had my lapband now for several months. I've never had an issue of not being able to eat, even it is in small amounts. I haven't had a fill for 2 months. I've eaten well and not had any issues. The last couple of days, I haven't been able to eat...period. I can take one small bite of something and I feel like it's stuck. I've been drinking quite a bit of liquids and haven't had any issues like nausea or throwing up. It's just hit the last couple of days. I had been eating a few pieces of sausage in the morning and quit the last couple of days. I don't know if this has had anything to do with it or not. I've actually over eaten too much lately and decided to get my act together and jump back on the wagon. I have always been able to eat salad and I couldn't even eat more than 2 bites before it was sitting right there in the middle. Please give me any advice or comments about going through this. I've lost about 35 pounds now since I've had my band and just wandering if anyone else has gone through it or if there may be another possible reason.

    Help! Can't Eat!

Thanks everyone. I'm going to call and see what has happened here.
  3. Take one day at a time. You can't change the past, but you can go from this point forward and make the future a success. We all have weak moments but we get stronger as we go through them.

    Trouble With Lap Band Fill?

You are so right, 1/4 cc can make all the difference in the world. Before lapband, I joked about filling my band up and how I'de like the whole thing just filled to the rim...boy do I know better now. It is always best to consult your doctor with questions. I couldn't get down soft foods and some liquids for a few days after my last fill...and I am so glad it wasn't the 3 ccs I had asked the doctor for previously...more than a week later, I'm much better...I love the band!!!
  5. Please advise...I got filled Tuesday of last week. The first couple of days, I couldn't hardly eat anything. I knew if I ate too fast. But now, for the last two days, I've been able to eat just about anything and at a faster pace and it hasn't been anything like a few days ago. Any idea what's going on?

    What's Happening Here?

Thank you Cindy C. I guess I was a little scared that I had eaten too much and prolapsed or something bad. I really thought that 5cc in my band would restrict me more than it does, but I just need to be patient.
  7. Head hunger...eating too fast!

    Treadmills for a obese beginner!!!

When I first started on the treadmill, it was all I could do to finish 10 minutes on snail's pace. It took a few months to build up. I would even do things like at one or two minutes each week to build up. Now, I live for it...not real fast, but I walk anywhere from 30-60 minutes a day. I've really been pushing lately to do the 60 miles this month and have been jogging the 1 minute and walking 3 minutes. I'm able to walk steady at 3.7 with a slight incline...which is something I couldn't even think of when I started. I love to do enough to break a great sweat.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

Wow, you guys are absolutely inspiring. I haven't lost anything, but I've really been exercising, and have noticed a big difference in my clothes. I guess I just want it to show when I go back to the doctor. I want a sign or something that says I've gone from couch potato to active. I've been doing 3-5 miles a day/4-5 days a week. I am feeling so much better. I know I need to lessen my calories even more, but I want to be able to eat and I've slowed down so much from what I was...as long as I'm going down and not up...I'm going to be satisfied. True, I would love to wake up and be 125, but that's not happening. It also wouldn't hurt if I would put the Skinny Cows down.

    November 60 Mile Walk Challenge

I have been so much better since I've been exercising. The weight is not falling off, but I can tell in my pant size. I've actually gone down one size in the past month.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I'm getting a little frustrated...I know we are all different, but I keep seeing that everyone has lost anywhere from 25-40+ pounds. My weight loss has gone soooo slow. I've only lost 5 pounds since 9-26 even though I have followed my calorie intake. I've been exercising also and know muscle will replace fat and the weight will not show down. Just out of curiosity, how many calories do ya'll eat? I just thought it would go so much quicker than this because I've gone from 3000-7000 calories a day to 1200.

    Met my 6th month goal

Awesome job! What an inspiration! I've read where most bandsters are eating the 3 meals a day, but you're 5-6 small meal idea helps because it helps get through the day and I seem to loose at a more steady pace. Keep up the great work and keep us updated. Way to Go!!!

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was doing the same thing and eating way too fast and having the pain behind the sternum. It's the one thing I have to really concentrate on when eating. My first experience was being sooo hungry for a Big Mac and going through the drive through to get one...ate 3 bites before I got out of the parking lot and thought I was going to die! The pain was horrid, the sweat began rolling, and I had only myself to blame. Oh the lessons we learn through experience. Thanks for listening...

    Exercise question?

I've been mixing things up. I walk and do Zumba - minimum of 30 minutes 4 times a week. I would love to do a 5k so its been 30 seconds of running (my version of running...not an athlete's) and 60 seconds of walking to try and build some speed and stamina. Zumba comes in to mix it up, but it can really make you sweat.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

Oh my!!! I had my first fill this week. I was on clear liquids then soft, slider foods for 24 hours, and now real food. It feels like the feeling I had been waiting for...I haven't been hungry at all. It's an odd feeling because I have been hungry for decades. I hadn't had enough calories today, so I decided to eat a hamburger patty (3 ounce) and I couldn't finish it. If I have too few calories, I don't loose weight, so I watch the calories and protien closely. I chewed and chewed, but I think I might have been on my way to PBing because I got this feeling like something was just stuck. I couldn't finish and have had a full feeling for the past 4 hours.

    November 60 Mile Walk Challenge

I'm in!...Thank you to everyone for being so inspirational...We can do this!
  20. Hello, my name is Sally and I am addicted to Skinny Cows! Before the band, I could eat a box of Edy's ice cream without effort and go back to the freezer to find out if there was more. Now, I've found the Skinny Cow! I usually don't go over my calorie limit, but I've noticed that I do it with the SC. I decided that this wasn't what I got the band to do...so I don't have any SC in the house. Last night, I had a great craving for them, but made another choice. Bandster hell and SCs do not make a good combination for me. Do you have any of those foods you eat too much of?
  21. Wow...I needed to read this thread. I'm going through the same thing. My first fill is November 1 and it's getting tougher and tougher not to eat like a maniac because I've worked very hard not too. My doctor did give me guidelines but also talked about this being a limbo time with a possibility of gaining weight. It takes all of my will power to stay on track. I find myself eating what I'm suppose too, just too much of it. I've also noticed myself changing my family's eating habits a little also. I make more protien centered meals and they have waayyyy less carbs. They've also enjoyed the protien shakes for a snack at times.
  22. I was banded on 9-26. At this time, I feel no restriction and could eat anything I want. I've had to really watch myself because the twinkies keep calling my name...it's about will power right now until our first fill. I can't wait because I need some help here. I truly understand "bandster hell" now. I even had one time that I was so hungry for McDonalds (which I haven't had in forever now) that I went and ordered a Big Mac meal. When I had it in my hand and was getting ready to take a bite, I caught myself and threw it all away! My doctor told me that it's not uncommon to even gain a pound or two at this point.
  23. I'm with ya'll. I was banded on 9/28 and lost 20 pounds but gained a few back...working on getting those off, but it seems like no matter what I do, they just won't go away. I've heard we are going through bandster hell. I don't know about ya'll, but I have to watch what I eat very closely because I don't feel like I have any restriction. There are moments I feel like I'm not hungry and moments I think I could eat a whole cow with a chocolate milk shake. It's hard to go from eating 3000-7000 calories a day to eating 1000. The shakes have kept me pretty in touch.

    stinky

I agree tengles...I blame it on my boys also...and boy it gets bad! lol I've noticed that the more artificial sweetener I have, the more gas I have...I've heard other people say that sweeteners are the trouble makers here, but not an expert, just know what happens here.
  25. Okay, I thought only my boys thought about this, but I have to ask. I am 6 days postop and haven't gone to the bathroom. I know this shouldn't be my first thought, but I think it's time. I'm drinking the water, clear liquids, full liquids...doing what I'm suppose too, but no results...to include walking. Any advice here would greatly help. I don't want to get my stomach rolling if I just need to be patient.
