    Protein

The amount of protein in excess to convert to fat is negligible for us VST. Now pre op that could be a worry but post op we can only eat so much so it will be utilized before it is converted to sugar and then onto fat. If it is converted to fat we are in the fat burning mode so it would also be utilized.

    DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!

Congratulations !!!!! It is weird to see the amount of food we can eat now. And think really I can only eat that much. It takes awhile to get used to. Keep up the great work!
  4. You are right the weight did not come on over night. It is good that you are checking with your doctor's to see if you have something that is holding your back. How much more weight do you want to lose?

    How sweet it is

I mix any powders with 3 times the required water also. I find them too sweet and need the watered down version to handle them.

    ATTENTION ALL SLEEVERS!!!!

At 3 months I had lost 64 lbs (including my one week pre op weight loss 16 lbs). And 48 lbs since my surgery day. I am at 3.5 months right now and am down another 10 lbs hoping to lose another 10 lbs in the next 2 weeks.
  7. I want to buy a hoodie but want it to fit for awhile. A large is tight but would it be better to get a medium for the long run?

  8. I really enjoyed mashed potatoes and I mixed in cottage cheese and sprinkle salt and pepper on top. Can you do omelettes with shredded cheese? refried Beans with shredded cheese (do you see a theme here I like cheese). Is ground beef/turkey considered a mushie or a soft food? I truly can not remember what stage I had it in but I did up with mexican flavour, guacamole and little refried been. Can you tolerate milk? You could do a glass of milk and throw in a scoop of milk powder to up the Protein. I know I enjoyed licking a spoon of Peanut Butter it was amazing. Tuna with mayo AND dill pickle relish. Eggfaces mini bites. I now make my own versions since I know the basic premise. Once you are out of this stage it gets better. I know I became very bored with this stage as well.
  9. Each doctor can perform the sleeve differently. With different sizes and capacities for the outcome. And with the varying out come of the "size" or capacity of sleeves out there you will also see varying post op diets. It is best to follow what your doctor has prescribed for the best outcome for your sleeve. It is ok to stay in a lower stage but to rush the other stages has the possibility of leading to a complication.
  10. Congratulations!!! You are almost to goal!
  11. This was 14 days Post operation???? Are you trying to burst your stomach? Your nerves have been cut and you will not feel restriction for awhile due to the nerves healing. Maybe you should google sepsis (huskytohealthy's therapist suggested he do that) from a perferated stomach to give you the true sense of what you could do to yourself. Be careful is all I can say.

    NSV pants size

Congratulations!!! My sister keeps on telling me to buy new pants cause I am starting to look like a hobo. Its a wonderful feeling fitting into the smaller sizes.
  13. You should stick to your doctor's recommended food plan. Are you on a PPI? As the acid in your stomach makes you think you are hungry. If you are not on a PPI (proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole or nexium) you should take to your doctor or PCP and get a prescription. Note the PPI will take up to a week to show a complete effect. After two weeks on the PPI if you are still feeling hungry then it is most likely hunger. Check with your doctor before you decide to jump from liquids to mushies! Your doctor can only tell you what is best for you and the sleeve that he has created for you.

    Peanut Butter Cookies

Yummmmoooo I am going to definitly make these cookies!
  15. Trust me you WILL notice a difference right away! Congrats on starting a new healthy journey. You can find all kinds of great information on this site.
  16. I agree you need to focus on healing and then you can start with the exercising. I am over 3 months post op and have not started an exercise regime (I will be soon). Take it easy and walk for shorter periods of time to keep your blood moving but not to increase your weightloss. You body needs some healing time.

    Stretched Uvula

What happened to your throat punching bag?
  18. I do not have hunger and I used to be one of those eat till I am stuffed and still be hungry type of person. I now eat healthy food choices to make sure I get in my required Proteins, carbs and fats. Before surgery I had problems with certain foods and so far I still have the same problems (tells me it is intestinal and not my stomach). Plus I have gained a few sensitivites as in when I try sugary things my stomach gets very uncomfortable queezy. So I just avoid them. Same goes for chips ( I tried some at a party awhile back) they went down but my tummy got very queezy so I will avoid those as well. The head hunger is sometimes present but mostly I forget I have to eat until I start feeling this "empty" feeling. Then I make sure I get something in me. Hope the sleeve resolves your hunger as I have heard a small percentage of the sleevers still have hunger.

2 years post op and need advice

It is where you go back to basics. I copied the information that Tiffykins posted awhile back here is what she said the 5 day pouch test was. Basics to follow: 1) Measure portions 2) Track food intake religiously 3) Don't eat until full, eat until satisfied 4) Drink 64oz of clear fluids 5) Set a meal plan, no Snacks, stick with it 6) Don't make excuses You can try the 5 day pouch test to get rid of the carbs if that is the issue. Days One & Two: liquid Protein low-carb Protein shakes, broth, clear or cream Soups, sugar-free Gelatin and pudding. Read more. Day 3: Soft Protein canned fish (tuna or salmon) eggs, fresh soft fish (tilapia, sole, orange roughy. Read more. Day 4: Firm Protein ground meat (turkey, beef, chicken, lamb), shellfish, scallops, lobster, fresh salmon or halibut. Read more. Day 5: Solid Protein white meat poultry, beef steak, pork, lamb, wild game You don't necessarily have to do the liquid part if you can be disciplined to just eat protein.

    The cookie monster....

So are these functions going to be every weekend? Or did it just happen that you had 3 of them in a row? I personally believe having a taste of a treat once in awhile will get the sweet monkey off my back. So that I do not obsess about it. Just know that you can not have these treats in your home or you will eat them all the time. I know it is in my mind and I have to work on it. I will eventually get there but for now I avoid when I can and allow a small treat once in awhile to satisfy that monkey.
  24. What are you craving the most? For me it was tuna and it satiated the craving when I ate it.
