I have never weighed or measured my food, thats too much work. I go strictly portion size. I use smaller plates and utensils.

  4. He had the band almost 5 years. I personally didnt think the surgeon placed it properly. Sleeve was done by another surgeon.
  5. Not long at all, couple months maybe, although our insurance did make him go through the preop testings again. We have horizon BCBS of NJ.

    i have lost MOTIVATION

I dont know how many pounds 16.5 stone is, but im guessing alot. Lol i was also banded a year and a half ago. I have lost 95 lbs. I walk everyday for 40 mins and also lift light weights. My weight loss has slowed down considerably, which is frustrating, but the scale is still moving in the right direction. You need to get up and move around. Take a walk, or even jog around your house. It will jumpstart your attitude as well as your heart

    Lap band + plication

If your going to go through the band and plication, might as well get the sleeve or bypass. The band restricts the amount of food you are able to eat, a meal should take 30-45 mins, and by the time it gets to your stomach (plication or not) you should feel full. Just my opinion. I got the band ( no plication) 8.31.11. and have lost 95 lbs. Good luck to everyone pn this journey.
  9. Get the sleeve. My husband went from band to sleeve, and is doing much better and keeping the weight off. Sometimes bands stop working.
  10. My husband went from band to sleeve. He was never successful with the band, gaining back more than half of what he lost. He has done much better with the sleeve, almost hitting his goal. Only problem is he became lactose intolerant. He found out the hard way too. Other than that no problems.

    70 pounds in 8 months

Weight loss will slow down considerably! I am 15 months post op. I lost 1-2 lbs per week for the first 6 months after that it was like 1-2 a MONTH. I am down 90 lbs so far, and still slowly slowly losing. I walk 40 mins a day, which helps. It is a little dis heartening because you get used to the fast weight loss at the start, then struggle. But if u stay smart and keep fighting, the scale will still go in the right direction.
  12. A successful band should allow you to eat the same exact foods you did before surgery, just much much MUCH less. I am 15 months post op and down 90 lbs. I can eat anything. I do have trouble foods, but i am smart with them, i eat very slowly, sometimes taking an hour to eat a few ounces. I do not feel deprived at all.
  13. Banded 8.31.11 in NJ. Down 90 lbs and still going ( very slowly but going). Went from size 26 to 14/16.
