    The two big F's

I have a surgery date of Dec. 16. At one of the classes they told us to stop dieting and eat sensibly. I dont know how not to diet! I've put on a couple of pounds since my last meeting and I find myself panicking about the surgery. Well not really the surgery but the idea of failing to lose weight and keep it off. What if I fail? Does anyone else have this fear?

    Pre-Op Blues

I have the preop blues too although I can't really find the source either. I am due to be banded December 16. Just wanted you to know you aren't alone.
  5. I have come to a very scary realization that I don't know how to eat like someone that isn't dieting. Years and years of dieting have left me overweight and completely lost. I am supposed to get banded in about 6 weeks. I've just had my 1st educational class where they talked about diets and how they don't work. SO...I am supposed to listen to my body and eat accordingly to my body signals. I just don't know where to start. Has anyone else had this problem ? What did you do?
  6. I am 46 years old. I work in the healthcare system. I am getting banded in Madison Wisconsin by Dr. Jacob Greenburg. I'm hoping for a surgery date before Thanksgiving.

  7. Hi everyone! I am new and was very excited to find a low carb group here. I'm in the process of getting banded and I have been doing low carb for 2 months. My question is "What can I eat to stay in the fat burning mode after surgery to continue losing during my post op time and before I can get back to regular foods?"
  8. Hi everyone! I am new and in the process of getting banded. I have been told that before I can have surgery I must attend 3 classes.Anyone one else have this experience? please share-what are they about?

    Band and worried!

I am early in the process and I just had a discussion with the surgeon about hunger and the band. He told me that I would still be hungry and that the way the band helps you is by getting us to eat at a slower pace and then having our stomachs empty slower. He also told me the vertical sleeve was a better surgery for controlling your hunger because it cuts away the part of the stomach that sends out more hunger signals. We are still having to stay vigilant over whatever we put in our mouths and that it is only a small piece of our sucess.

    change

I am new and am early in the process of getting banded. Your input on any part of the process would be greatly appreciated. Please share What would you do differently?'
  11. I am in the beginning of the process of getting the lapband. I have seen the psychologist and am getting ready to see a dietician and start the preparation for the surgery. I would really like to hear ideas about how to take off weight before I actually get banded. I have well meaning friends that tell me what they think but they are not in my situation. Would love to hear from you! Has anyone failed to get any weight off before surgery?
