Weight loss before surgery

I am in the beginning of the process of getting the lapband. I have seen the psychologist and am getting ready to see a dietician and start the preparation for the surgery. I would really like to hear ideas about how to take off weight before I actually get banded. I have well meaning friends that tell me what they think but they are not in my situation. Would love to hear from you! Has anyone failed to get any weight off before surgery?

When I started seeing the nutritionist in February, I decided if I was going to do this..I was going to put my everything into it. I cut out all sugar...candy, cakes, etc. I stopped eating as much carbohydrates, I cut down on my diet cokes(from 6-8 a day to 2) and increased my water intake (wasn't hard since on an average day I drank none). That's how I started...and still pretty much do the same. Good luck!
