  1. Thank you Kelly!! My dr is saying no more than 1200 but I work out 4-5 days a week so I think that's too low for me. Yesterday I ate way over that and I lost 4 lbs overnight!!! I hate my body, just hate it.
  2. First fill on the 27th! Feeling good. I can eat soft solids now. I haven't lost anything since 4 days post op!!
  3. Let me put some real talk on you honey. Everything the above poster said is a great summary! I am 21 days post op and frankly a littlle bewildrered, confused and a bit disappointed. It all depends on what your currently healthy and lifestyle is. Personally I think the band emotionally has been harder and especially since I didnt have bad eating habits before I got the band. I also worked out too. So with the band I was expecting a bit more I guess. I dunno if my metabolism just sucks or what, but I'm very discouraged. I didnt expect to lose 40lbs in a month or anything. Just a pound a week or something. I lost quickly before the surgery, but after only about 6 lbs then nothing since. It was Water weigh I assume. There is a serious lack of consistancy too with the nutrition, aftercare, and recovery per doctor. That I didnt know until I started posting on here. Yes, my hunger is curbed. If you have a problem with overeating then the lapband is for you. If you are wanting to use it as a tool to better eating habits and excersize then yes its for you. If you already work out and eat fairly well and expecting this to push your body a little and go to the next level then I dunno. It hasnt happened for me at least yet. Pre op I did south beach for 5 days, which is basically a low carb diet. The post op diet was a breeze IMO and didnt mind being on liquids but I was on liquids the 10 days then on to mushie food afterwards and now on solids. Your doctor may do things differently. gas pains after surgery was the worst part. They blow your stomach up with gas to move your organs outta the way so the band can be placed. The gas get strapped and felt like i had constant back pain and chest pain, but that lasted 5 days. The surgery itself was easy. So proceed with caution and think hard. Can you do this without the band? Are you very motivated? Or do you yo-yo diet a lot and overeat?
  4. Ugh I am so tired. WTF? I feel like I'm gonna pass out seriously. Maybe not enough calories? I dunno. I just want to crawl into bed and sleep. I'm having a hard time getting up in the morning too. I've never felt like this before. Kinda scary, but I just dont want to go over 1200 cal. My dr told me I shouldnt go over that much. UGHHHH!
  5. I guess we can have our pity party together cause I'm almost 21 days out and lost 6 or 7 lbs post op. I'm low carb, low cal diet and was told I should lose 1-2 lbs a week. Yeah right. I lost the first few days then nothing since. I'm ready for some pizza lol!
  6. Jesus now I'm really depressed! Lol! My body is stubborn. I don't know y. It adapts quickly. I like working out. It mentally makes me feel better and I have more energy. I'm just trying to understand y some people can lose and do nothing while I have to kill myself in the gym and practically starve. This morning I am tired and weak again. I'm so depressed and thinking I made a mistake with the lapband.
  7. Preach!!! I don't get it either. Saw my dr yesterday and he told me 1-2lbs a week. No healing period, nada. He said that if in 2 weeks I'm not losing then to come see him. I have my first fill on 09/27. I'm not hungry just want too see how I do with a fill. I've eaten on my dr diet. Less than 1000 calories a day. Working out this week. It for sure defies any logic. I have a friend on optimist. 800 cal a day and losing weight fast.
  8. Ok I am dying to try this. What do I need? Weights???
  9. Well well well according to my surgeon my healing period is 2 weeks. He said he has no idea where people get 2 months from. I should be losing 1-2 lbs per week period. I'm clear to lightly start lifting weights again. Yeah!!!!! No over doing it. I need to up my protein and I'm scheduled for a fill but only if I think I need one. I'm not sure yet. So the whole crap about giving myself time to heal is what some have been told by other doctors. I guess I should have listened to him. I was told yes to give up the oatmeal or so it once a week. Excersize more and more water. I've been slacking on that. It feels good to get the green light.
  10. Sharlio, from your fingers to god ears!! I dunno why she got so bent out of shape. Jesus. Now my thread is shut down. Now I'm not one to let stuff go, that's just me. It was my thread. Anyhoo. I went to the dr and he said that the healing period is 2 weeks. I'm clear to eat solids as long as they are soft. I'm cleared to workout too!! My dr tells me to go easy but that's really about it. So yeah now I'm confused but I will listen to MY doctor instead of different people on here cause obviously we are all being told different things.
  11. I too was constipated and miralax did nothing. I tried everything. I hate to admit this but I bought a low carb shake from braums. The malitol makes me poop. I went a week.
  12. im trying. I just see myself as a bit more flabby than before. yuck! thanks! i for sure dont want a hernia. my god!
  13. 2.5 weeks out: Mornings: Shake Lunch: 1 cup of soup Dinner: green bean casserole and Sugar free jello cup.
  14. oh just great now my thread is locked. GRRRRR....
  15. im 2.5 weeks in and let me tell you I was scared too the very day I got the surgery, but it was just jitters and fear of the unknown. Sometimes I have to be talked off of the ledge too. So I understand. I can only speak from my experience. The band is reversable so even if by chance it doesnt work you can have it removed. I have ate too much but I didnt feel sick to my stomach or anything, maybe I didnt overeat too much. I just felt thanksgiving full and my left side starts to ache a bit. Then 10 min later it goes away and I just feel full. I'm a huge Water gulper. I've learned to take sips and not to chug a lug. You can too! But i accidentally chugged hard and not much happened. Just a cold feeling in my gut and I burped a few times. I was not a huge eater before, but now I'm hardly ever hungry. I know others that have been banded and are starving before their fills. My fill is on 09/27. I dont feel deprived at all.
  16. Yes someone already said that on page 1. I said ok healing but didn't understand how healing hinders weight loss. Once again if my doctor would have told me this in the beginning then I wouldn't even had started this thread. Jesus. I heard about the healing period from the posters on here. True results never told me this either!!! I understand advice and appreciate it but you need to go back and read your posts. They are a bit harsh in tone and condescending. That's what I am referring too. You should be happy you have a job? Uh ok...oh yeah that's not belittling. So no I'm not taking your advice. Can you leave please?
  17. Thanks deedee! Your right. I wanted to hear peoples experiences and what not. I don't need a kick. I kick myself enough. I'm very hard on myself that's y I need a gauge cause yes I'm type A person. I look at results as a meter for success. I just don't need people talking to me like I'm a child. I'm grown. Every post I have made here has been positive. I try to ask questions or give my opinion in a tactful way. Not trying to preach. I'm a positive person.
  18. 500-800 per day! but im 2.5 weeks in my band.
  19. Oh yeah its the devil. I've decided to stop eating it!! I think it is the source of my stall. Waaaay too many carbs for me. So yesterday was my last day. I'll just give the rest to my son. We'll see how this works. Today I see my dr for the first time since surgery. I was suppose to go last week, but last week was an utter meltdown. babystter almost passed out and had to go to the hospital. I totally freaked. I had to leave work early and stay home with my son until she recovered so there went my workout plans. Blah! Im still angry about not losing. I feel like I have gained weight. I have stayed away from the scale, but I can feel my a** spread everyday. We shall see. I know I got a weigh in at the dr.'s. I'm terrified. I worked out today. OWWW!! i feel a sharp pain in my side now. I just know I kinda over did it, but jesus a light workout feels like a waste of my time. I dont think 30 min of cardio would be that bad. Oh well I feel better now. Probably just rusty. The barbells are calling my name. I so wanna lift. I'm gonna ask my dr about that today. I know 3-4 weeks, but cardio for the next couple of weeks aint gonna cut it unless I do 60 min a day 4x a week. I have to feel the burn! Obsessive? maybe? I never said I was too sane. LOL!!! I feel a bit weak. Maybe I should eat before lunch, but i'm not hungry. Bandster heck is terrible!!
  20. 4 kids? That's tough!! I got one, but he's a little one. It's all normal dawn. Like I said I guess us newbies gotta stick together. I vented and some old timer got all bent outta shape. Jeez. It's a state of limbo when u get banded. Can't eat solids, u have aches and pains and trying to go about your normal routine too. Then a lot of us don't have too much outside support or we haven't told anyone so yeah. This isn't easy. We need a little reassurance and misery loves company!!
  21. Ok here we go. Jesus I didn't know some people get their panties in a wad over others threads. I didn't know that sounding like a bitter **** was just on par in someones postings on a message board. I came here for info, encouragement, boredom not to be talked to like I'm an idiot. I've done so well though. Not one curse word!! Normally I would tell someone to **** off. The point is if you don't have something nice or constructive to say then just hit the exit button. If you have no clue about a person then ask and don't assume you know. I'm new but I can read between the lines. Take your b.s elsewhere cause I ain't trying to hear it!!!
  22. Umm for 1 week no lifting more than 10lbs. I cannot lift any weights for a month. Like at the gym. I wanna say that it's been fun ladies in case I get kicked off here!!! Lol!!! I'm just bracing for impact. I am on myfitnesspal!
  23. Well if you read my posts after the original one I said no more scale and the conversation has moved on. So I guess I just don't understand your whole point. It just seems like you just read the original post and that's it. Doing some complainig somewhere? What the hell are you talking about. Plus if someone doesn't want to read or participate in a thread I started then don't!!! It's that easy. I came here to vent and so have others. If u don't like it then get lost. I just don't understand your tone and need to be negative, condescending and a jerk. I thought this site was for support. Not to berate people or what not. We are all adults and no need to talk to people like their stupid. Jeez I thought I was the temperamental one!! Lady you need serious help!! Lol.
  24. My tummy is numb in the middle above my belly button. My left side hurts if I turn too fast. If I lift something too heavy I get a sharp pain. Other than that I'm fine. Yes we do need a newbie support group cause in my thread it took an act of god and pain killers to stop me from cussing someone out on here. In my real life I don't have patience for people and I lack tact. Temper temper...
  25. Ok I'm trying to be tactful but yeah I don't need to be told to be thankful I have a job. Yeah without my job I would probably be in hell and homeless. I don't know what I said that could be taken that I wasn't thankful. I didn't realize this was a competition on whose life sucks the most. The purpose of my thread is to see what was going on and if others were in the same boat. I'm 2 weeks post op and a newbie. So like my fellow newbies we are making our way thru bandster hell. I don't think chastising and belittling someone or flippant remarks is helpful to anyone. I know you old timers apparently have it all figured out. Well Us newbies do not. Especially when real life constraints get in the way. Within the past month I have been through hell. I don't like to get into my personal life on a message board but jeez when someone assumes I'm just make excuses or just being lazy without asking then that's where I have to speak up.
