  1. Hey Ian

I think it's best to listen to your sleeve. The most important thing i found at your stage was Water intake. When you move on to musshies and solids your fullness will be more pronounced so all i can suggest is eat slooooow. I've made the mistake a few times of forgetting to go slow and i didn't throw up but i had allot of discomfort. What worked for me was myfittnesspal.com and 6-7 small meals a day. Good luck on your journey :)

  2. Hey guys

It seems not allot of u show us ur scars in the healing process and i just wanted to share how my scars are doing so far. They have finally decided to go down from being puffy but there still very red and i've been using mederma and Vitamin E oil but it's been a battle to remember to keep applying every few hours and i must admit there have been days where i've forgot totally. Anyway update us all with how your scars are healing :)

  3. Hey guys

Thanks so much for the input :) I think I'm gonna start a 12 week program http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kris-gethin-12-week-daily-trainer-intro.html and see where that leads me. The way i see it , some complex carbs on weight days and zero carbs on cardio days would probably work out better from a theory stance but i guess ill have to see and experiment to see what works. Right now i've started cardio and boy do my muscles ache. I decided to take a week off from work to start this work out program so the lactic acid and delayed pain subsides and I'm use to it by the time I'm back at work. I also found something interesting on whey vs casien and supplement timings for lifting days here : http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/satternorton.htm I think we all just need to find what works for us. Im about 32 percent body fat and already have a good muscle structure but it's my belief that we lose weight much faster when cycling between low carb with cardio and higher carbs and lifting due to the thermal effect of building muscle and keeping it. Thanks again and i wish you all the best :)

  4. Hey peeps

I was wondering about muscle building and carbs. The things i know is that muscle cannot be built without carbs for glycogen stores. Im going to be joining the gym end of this month and since i've been on 20-30g of carbs for 3 months my question is, should i up my carbs post work out to build some muscle and have greater lean mass or just keep doing what I'm doing and risk catabolic muscle break down?

  5. We go through so many changes in such a short amout of time, it tough to keep up mentally/emotionally! It sounds like you are doing really well oveall. One advantage of being a guy is that, now that you are starting the gym, you will probably get a really good pay off. Guys seem to be able to tone up those muscles really nicely. It will probably reshape those areas you aren't as happy about. Hang in there. I bet you will look smoking hot here soon!!!!
Great post! I too rode the roller coaster of emotions after the sleeve. You gotta wonder just what's going on inside with everything changing so much and so rapidly - it's perfectly normal - even for us guys. The ill fitting clothes issue gets worse as you lose, now that extra inch of fabric that used to make those pants oh-so-comfy now make me look like I'm walkin' around with a loaded diaper on! I'm wearing like a medium and a half now - which doesn't exist, medium is just a tad too small and larges are too big, so I walk around with baggy clothes. I LIKE that problem :smile1:

mnb thanks for the inspiring vote of confidence :D

rootman i know what you mean I'm down to a large and a half lol . The large makes my love handles look like camel humps and the xl makes me look like I'm wearing bat wings so i can't wait to start the gym and see where it takes me. Its a better problem to have than insulin resistance! :D As for the roller coaster i'll try to enjoy the ride :D

    Thanks guys

  6. Hi Brock! I know I went through a crazy amount of emotions all throughout my journey. I still do to this day! I think it's going to be years before I fully grasp how different I am in a matter of a years time.
I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Hang in there! I'm glad to hear you're doing better though, and ever day will too. I also ended up with not fitting my pants correctly. I had to get that fixed, and now I'm just waiting for final healing and I will be much happier for it.
    Good luck!

    Thanks :D will do

  7. Hey guys

Well it's been an interesting 3 months so far. I've gone from being sad and happy about my surgery like a yoyo and i now feel kinda stable :) I love that my body is changing i just can't stand the out of proportionis that i feel now I've lost quite a chunk of weight. Let me elaborate. I've lost weight in certain areas of my body where as others are lagging . Like my hips for example.

I know its strange for a dude to be talking about this but i can't seem to find clothes that fit just right lol. I know it's only temporary . I even , on my travels , got a pair of trousers for work tailored for me and now they are to big in some areas but not others >< . I know i have to be patient but I'm tired of taking ppi's too lol . i mean if i miss 2 days in a row i wake up feeling like death is at my door :P

Other than that I'm loving the journey and I'm going to begin my gym journey at the end of this month so hopefully i can transform a little faster and better .

Anyway as always wishing you all the best :)

  8. Hey Malika

I think you answered all your questions by yourself. Number one : take it slow in eating and try and break the habit of eating till you get to the point of absolute full.

Number 2: Protein before carbs. What i do is ive got allot of low fat turkey slices in the fridge and low fat cheeses ( swiss or goat) and i drink allot of Water. Refined carbs are what got you here and you have to take a long look at what your goals are and realize that being thin is going to make you happy ultimately.

I do believe your stomach can stretch but not in 5 months. Take the 5 day pouch test and that should prove your fine. The basic rule states calories in calories out , but then you have the thermo effect of your body working to break down certain foods like Protein , complex carbs . Join myfitnesspal.com and log in all your food and dont cheat. That way you will be able to fight the cravings and rule your own life,

I hope this helps you and best of wishes :)

  9. It's the length of you stomach and/or your bougie size . I personally have a long stomach cause im a 34 french and can still eat 5-6oz steak no problems . Just use a calorie counter and don't cheat on it and you'll realize how much of everything your getting in. Right now im trying to stick to 50% protien 30% fats and 20 % carbs and 800-1000 calories per day. Luckily even if i go over the calories or fat or carbs my sleeve changes day to day. So if im not feeling really hungry one day ill adjust and balance for the week which seems to work for me :) Good luck guys and use every tool you can .

p.s watch out for alcohol later it really messes with calorific intake

  10. hey guys

Today im 8 weeks post op and decided that im going to quit smoking for good. I quit for a month pre op but alas with the work atmosphere and many justifications to myself that i can quit easy next time lool , i started smoking again one month post op. Now today is day one and i just realized how much a cig really suppresses appetite!! i had cravings for food all day! Has anyone else done this and if so give me dome pointers thanks :)
