Is pre surgery liquid diet required?

Each surgeon has their own philosophy on this. I had to do a two week liquid diet with two cups of vegetables allowed each day. After surgery I had to do another 10 days of liquids then on to mushies and finally regular food.

    What to say....

I know it's hard but you have to avoid taking on someone's bad preconceived notions or outright ignorance. You are responsible for you, this is how you go on to help those around you, by taking care of yourself. Everyone in the world can have an opinion on your choice, but it is you alone who needs to live with it. To those who say it's the easy way out, I say come and do the pre-op and post-op diet without cheating. It takes a strong willed person to go through this. I hope you find nothing but success with this and do not let the opinions of others color your very difficult decision.

    What to say....

Your beloved Tigers are going to have to get past the Rays or Sox first. The Yankees will be busy giving the Rangers a thorough thrashing, which lines CC up to counter your beloved Verlander twice as well. Those two games will come down to offense. I like the Yankees chances.

    What to say....

I would leave the part out about the Red Sox, especially since most of them are Yankee fans this week hoping we take care of their dirty work. LOL

    What to say....

You can tell them you had Hernia surgery or your gall bladder removed. Telling people the truth is a very personal decision and there's no shame in holding off on announcing it to the world.

    MMA

Just wondering if any of you guys have been practicing MMA and if it's gotten easier since your surgery. Looking forward to practicing Jiu Jitsu without struggling.
  8. My wife gave me sage like advice on this very topic. Don't treat it like it's the last day of your life, but the first day of your new life. Enjoy the last day as if you were bound for a new adventure. I told her it was easier said than done, she agreed. Fortunately that's what's been keeping me going. The thoughts of what I what to do with this new life. We are not condemned we are actually freeing ourselves from something that is holding us back from enjoying life to the fullest. You keep in touch as well. Looking forward to hearing about your journey
  9. Hi Gashman. I am beginning my second week of liquids, my surgery is going to be on the 19th. It's a little rough but if I can do it anyone can. Good luck!

    Hello All!

Hi, Wanted to introduce myself. I will be going in for lap band surgery Friday September 16th at NYU with Dr. George Fielding. I have been on liquids for a week and have one more to go, it has not been overly terrible although there have been many moments of weakness. At this point I am glad I haven't given in as I want my surgery to go as smoothly as possible, I think this site is great for finding out information about life with the band and sharing of personal journeys. Anthony
