  1. Had surgery on August 18th at NYU Medical Center. Dr. Kurian did the surgery & I have total confidence in her expertise. She told me she had to remove the band & reinsert it because there was difficulty with clamping it closed. I also had a hiatal hernia that was repaired. I was 236 the day of surgery, down from 250 from my first consultation. I am now ranging from 225-228 for the past 10 days. Sort of disappointing after dropping about a lb. a day for a while, but I know that's not normal nor expected. Had my first fill last Saturday. I will keep posting about progress & snags along the way.....good luck to all.

Dr. Kurian came in to speak with me prior to surgery. I like her way. She is straight to the point & I'm sure she's in high demand. I prefer expertise than extra bedside manner. I stayed overnight & I'm glad I did. Yes, I had pain & gas. Couldn't urinate for quite some time. The meds were good but I did have to ask for my next dose when needed. Did not see Dr. Kurian post-op. For me, NYU staff were great & the flow was professionally timely from checkin to checkout. I had a private room. Good luck & don't worry. You're in good hands.

My first fill was 3.6cc. I did read that t may take 4 weeks for a fill to take affect. Doesn't sound logical but it is what it is. The maximum fill of my band would be 14cc.
  5. Hello R5000- just got home from surgery yesterday with Dr. Kurian. Pretty sore. Any suggestions for the next 10 days?
