  1. I did not know I had one, but Doc told my mom I did when I was in recovery. I did notice a burn up my esophagus, not sure if that was a sign. Good luck.
  2. Be careful with that pre-op diet, I was told to start before the approval and was on it 6 weeks. By time the surgery came, at the hospital I was dehydrated and my potassium was low. It was hard to find an IV site. Good luck. As for me I tell everyone I know because each insurance is different and I had UHC. Hope all goes well.
  3. Thanks everyone for the support. I have found that it is getting better each day. Trying to get at least 1.5 liters of fluid daily but hard to get in. I do not want to be back in hospital.
  4. Post-op day 5, still taking gas-x strips, walking, and increasing water to prevent dehydration. Taking pain meds around the clock, took nausea meds once today so thats a plus. Everyday appears to be getting better, incisions not really sore. The main thing I'm dealing with is getting rid of the gas and I have hiccups. If I could just belch, but its difficult once banded. Good luck March bandsters.
  5. Good luck, hope all goes well. I will be praying for you. Keep us posted.
  6. Congrats, 4 days post-op here and feeling better did get off to a rough start ready for full liquids though.
  7. Well I was scheduled for surgery on Friday, March 2. I arrived at the hospital at 06:30, was weighed in and given a gown to change. I was so dehydrated 4 attempts were made to get the IV in, by that time the surgeon was ready for me. The anesthesiologist came to talk to me and he gave me a cocktail and I don't remember anything else. I awoke in recovery, with no pain, I stayed there then I was placed in a room on the floor to finish recooperating. I was told he did a hernia repair along with my banding. I did a swallow test and xray to confirm placement. By 3pm I was a mess dry heaving, trying to vomit but nothing would come up, blood pressure was out of control and the pain was terrible. I walked and walked and walked and could not rid the gas or burp. The doctor made me NPO due to the nausea, thank God I never vomited. I was concerned about the band with the dry heaving, hope I did not ruin anything. I had one nurse who was awful, I ask meds 2 hours before I actually started heaving, had to literally cry to get meds for nausea and gas. Beyond that I'm glad to have been discharged at 10:45 pm made it hope at 11:30 had a rough night but feeling so much better today. Still having the gas in the left shoulder area but been walking. Came home with pain and nausea meds. I am glad to be on the otherside at this point I would have not changed a thing, this could have happened to anyone. As far as appetite, I have none not hungry at all but have had jello, water, vitamin, juices gonna try a protein shake today. Gonna take it easy, walk, rest and hydrate.
  8. hello march bandsters, I'm banded. Had a hernia repair done also. I was released from hospital last night. Outpatient surgery resulted in 2 day hospital stay. I'm glad to report that I am better now, but the gas pains are awful, taking my meds around the clock. Glad to be on the other side.
  9. That's my biggest fear not waking up and I go to surgery Friday. I'm so nervous and scared. plus been working alot without rest and that adds to the problem. I do 12 hr shifts and to get time off my days been crunched.
  10. I have UHC it took me 8 days actualy, and 2 weeks total to get letter. I found out approved through letter first, then called my clinic. Goodluck.
  11. I ate at golden corral last night, it was a mistake and I did over eat or feel that i did. I had a tsp of a variety of foods mainly veggies no starches, baked meats and chocolate dipped marshmellows. I feel bad but I'm not gonna penalize myself since I've have been on pre-op diet since 1/16. Back on track today for surgery fri, need to stay focused.
  12. Me too we are band buddies, goodluck. Keep us posted , I'm the 2nd case scheduled for 08:30.
  13. I did it and got approved my first submission. Having surgery next friday. Goodluck do like we did, use it as a learning tool before your band. Don't be too concerned about weight loss, unless required by your insurance. My Dr used my first weigh in for the insurance, I have UHC.
  14. congrats we have the same date. banding at true results houston
  15. Being banded Mar 2 by Dr. Reilley, hope my liver has shrunk too. Have not weighed in 7 days will weigh in on pre-op appt 2/21. The office told me to lose 10lbs or he will postpone surgery, well guess I'll see on tues. The scale appeared to have not been my friend, but people on my job say they have noticed I lost and they wanted to weigh me but I refused. Good luck.
  16. Glad everything went well, hope u fell better. Praying for a speedy recovery take care.
  17. Is it normal to have severe hunger/gas pains? My stomach has been sore and sending pain like lightning, been on pre-op diet since 1/16. If this does not resolve by tomorrow will call clinic. Been experiencing these pains for 2 days, did well on diet up until now. Have no idea why this is happening thinking I'm going into starvation mode.
  18. Good luck and keep us posted
  19. I was approved before surgery date and started on pre-op diet. Guess ev1 experience is different.
  20. Well I'm sure they know too since you work there. I chose a hospital outside of the one I work at, for privacy. Goodluck.
  21. Body fortress super advanced whey protein from walmart. It has 140 cal/2g fat/1 g sugar and 26g protein per 1 scoop = 52 g protein for 2 shakes. I like the chocolate but heard the strawberry is good.
  22. If they don't ask then don't tell. Told my boss what day I was having surgery and how long I needed off and she never ask what was I going to surgery for. I requested 2 weeks since I do 12 hr days and stand on my feet, it was approved with pay. Goodluck
