  9. I'm so excited for you 'Gettinhealthy'! I've done all the classes and been cleared by my dr's but I'm terrified they'll tell me it's too soon after chemo even though my Oncologist gave me his blessing is all for it. I guess it's in God's hands now!

  12. Hi I'm Michele, I was in classes at Kaiser for WL surgery last August when I found out I had breast cancer. A double mastectomy and 6 rounds of chemo later I've completed the mandatory classes and am seeing a surgeon July 31st. I'm terrified they are going to make me wait longer. I'm cleared by my Oncologist and as healthy as I was prior to surgery. The biggest kick to all this is is I can't get reconstructed because my BMI is too high by Kasier's standards, basically I lost my breasts to cancer but they say I'm too fat to get new ones. So if they say no to the surgery that just means a longer wait to have a normal body and be able to ditch the hot, heavy prosthetics. I so sick of waiting. Some days I just wanna cry and the fear the surgeon can control my destiny just like saying no to reconstruction because of my weight weighs heavy on my mind. July 31 can't here fast enough! So after all that whining are there any women out there that have had VSG after BC? Thanks for reading.
  13. Hi I'm Michele. I'm new to the site and starting KP insurance on Monday Aug 1, and have a doctor's appointment at 9am that day. I can hardly wait to to get this process going. The fear of being rejected is haunting me. I'm right on the 40 BMI border and the other only other issues I have are really painful joints and mild arthritis. I'm grateful for my low BP and no diabetes, I just hope qualify for the surgery. I'll be 51 on Aug 27 and have been a prisoner of my weight for as long as I can remember. I'm so tired of trying and failing, my heart is set on this surgery. I'm not looking forward to jumping through all the previously mentioned hoops but if I don't get turned away I'll tackle them all one at a time. I'm seeing a primary doctor in Mission Hills that referred my friend for surgery and my friend even emailed her (The doctor) and asked her to take me as a patient and she did. Then I will be (I'm guessing) doing the Options stuff through Panorama City. Please send me some good energy that I get accepted. Thanks everyone and I look forward to knowing you and hearing your stories. Michele
  14. Hi, I'm Michele and I'm new here and starting with Kaiser Monday August 1st. I have a doctor's appt with a doctor that referred my friend for surgery. My friend emailed the doctor and asked her to take me as a patient and she did. But I'm haunted by the fear I won't be accepted for the program and the surgery. My BMI is just around around 40, 39.9. I've been fighting my weight my whole life. I don't have any major co-morbity issues, my BP is normal, no diabetes (thanks God) but I have terrible joint pain and mild arthritis and some days I can barely bend my knees. I'll be 51 the end of August and have my heart set on this surgery to help me live a different life. I hate only being able to be on my feet for short periods of time. I went to a party last Sunday and dance to 2 songs and later that night my knees were on fire. I don't really complain much about it, because I'm ashamed because it's caused by my weight, but I decline so many invitations because I know how much pain I will be in later. My previous doctor said there was arthritis in my xrays and said I should change insurance companies and try to get the surgery so I did. I'm sure lightening the load by 100lbs will help my knees immensely. My appt is in Mission Hills then I guess the Options stuff will be panorama City. Please send some good energy that I get accepted. I thought I posted before but never saw my post but I'm new so maybe that's why it didn't show. I look forward to knowing you all and hearing your stories. Michele
