  1. Anyone else try the Jay Robb whey Protein? I just got a sample from GNC and I think it tastes pretty good. I've just started to try some samples in the hopes of having surgery in June or July. I mixed it with milk. (I'm not sure if that's the recommendation or not for Post Op diets) You can mix it with Water, too. But I haven't tried it that way yet. There's 25 grams of protein in it and it has Slevia no calorie sweetener in it.

    Baby Steps

Still struggling with the CPAP machine, but every night it's getting a little easier. My panicky feeling of not being able to breath is getting better. I'm really hoping that I get used to it soon. I'm not getting enough sleep yet!!! Very tired.

    APPROVED today!!!! Woot Woot!!!

I can't believe it. I was settling in for a 30 wait for insurance approval and than, this morning, I got the email from my surgeons office that I've been approved. Woot Woot!!! I was told in the beginning that surgery is usually scheduled 4-6 weeks from date of approval. That means probably June!!! :cursing:
  4. Hi Wendy. Haven't heard from you lately. Hope you are doing well. Can't wait to hear an update from you.

I just got insurance approval today. I should hear about a surgery date in the next few days.

  5. I don't want to get your hope up. But are you sure they won't cover it? I have United Health Care Choice Plus and I just got my insurance approval today!!! Have you tried logging onto your insurance website and looking it up? I know all plans are different, but my surgeon specifically said during our seminar that United Health Care was the only insurance that he knew of that is covering gastric sleeve surgery. Sending up prayers that the information you received is not correct. Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

Wow, you look great. Congrats!!! You should be proud of yourself!!
  7. I'm sorry that your hubby isn't being supportive. But you definately have support here. My husband has never had a weight problem either. He's been very supportive in words, but in action, he's not there yet. I'm trying to get used to changing certain habits, and he's always offering me the things that I'm trying to eliminate. I don't think he is doing it to be mean, he just doesn't have a clue. He's never needed to think about what he eats or drinks. I think it's hard for someone who has never had a weight issue to truely understand. I'll still pray for you that your husband becomes more supportive, but in the meantime, I agree with the others here that say, find someone you can lean on for support and plan to make friends here. The people here will KNOW what you're going through. Best of luck.

    I need a good night's sleep !!!

2nd night on CPAP machine was only a little better. At least there were no tears or tantrums last night. But I stayed up really late to make sure I was very tired when I went to bed. I still had a hard time falling asleep. I can't help the feeling of not being able to breath. Finally fell asleep and slept for 5 hours without a problem. Need sleep tonight!!! :cursing:
  13. Sometimes mom's can surprise you. I was nervous about telling mine, but as it turns out, she is being very supportive of my decision. She, like most mom's, just wants what is best for me. She knows the struggles I've had with weight and she doesn't want to see me end up with diabetes or other weight related health issues. Good luck with telling you mom. I hope she is supportive!!!!

    Tiggers don't like CPAP machines

What an awful night. Spent from 10PM to midnight feeling like I couldn't breath on the CPAP machine. After tears of frustration, I ripped the mask off and decided that I couldn't have sleep apnea if I just didn't go to sleep. At about 3 AM I woke up still in a half sitting position with the mask in my hand. I must have been 1/2 asleep and relaxed enough, because I put it on and did fine until the alarm went of at 6:15AM. Tiggers and I hate CPAP machines !!!:cursing:

Hi Trinity. Thanks for the compliment. I wish my surgery was scheduled. I'm still waiting for insurance approval. I'm supposed to hear something by the end of this month. Once I get the approval, my surgery will be scheduled 4-6 weeks from then.

    10 Weeks Out

I have United Health Care. The surgeon's office told me that historically they've been very good about approvals, but they usually take close to the full 30 days to respond. Oh, well - as long as I get approved. That's the important part.

    Finally posting a message

Congrats on getting your date set. I can't wait. I don't have a date set yet - waiting for insurance approval, but I needed to have a psych exam and sleep study before my surgeon would submit request to insurance. Once I get approval, I'll need to have an EKG, a pulminary exam, bloodwork, etc. before surgery. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

    June Surgery anyone?

Not sure yet. Waiting for Insurance approval. They have 30 day to respond. May 29th will be the 30 day mark. Surgeon said 4 to 6 weeks after approval. That would put me at end of June to Mid July. This waiting is painful. Can't wait to be on the loser's bench !!!
