Yes, you can definitely have the sleeve and be healthy as a vegan. It will require some planning and attention to detail--I'm moving that way right now. I've eaten vegan at several points in my life, once for a 2-year stretch (broken by an up-close encounter with bacon). After being sleeved and dropping the weight, I now realize that my goal wasn't/isn't just to be thin; it's to be healthy, and I'm starting an exercise program and looking for the most optimum nutrition way of eating that I can find. For me, since my sleeve is uber-picky and still really small, veganism is going to be a challenge simply from a volume perspective--and I suspect this is the case for a lot of us.
Protein is in almost every food in some form--you can read a lot about plant-based diets and Protein just from a simple Google search, so I won't bore you with that here. But the big issue is immediately post-op. You're going to want to find some quality Protein drinks that use soy-based protein (not hard to find, happily!) and avoid dairy and/or egg protein. After that immediate post-op period, you're probably still going to need to supplement with Protein shakes just because you won't be able to eat enough legumes/beans/nuts/tofu to cover your protein requirements as your sleeve heals. That being said, some of the best sources of vegetable protein can be soft/mushies (think Beans, tofu, nut butters).
At this point in my sleeve career (I'm 13-1/2 months out), I eat small, frequent meals--the challenge for me is going to be switching out of dairy into exclusively plant-based protein, as I have been relying pretty heavily on dairy as a protein source (my sleeve doesn't tolerate a lot of animal-flesh Proteins, except for shellfish and occasional lunch meat ham or turkey--and those sometimes don't work). I'm going to have to learn to be more proactive in eating beans/legumes at almost every meal in some format--happily, white Beans can be hidden in smoothies at Breakfast (sounds gross, can't really taste it, thank goodness)..... stuff like that. I'm going to have to plan my meals instead of just going with the flow; I'm not thrilled about that, but the trade-off is worth it.
    Anyhow, keep us posted!

Alcohol will "feel" different after surgery for most of us in one way or another. I'm one of the ones who found it hit a lot harder than pre-surgery. I also discovered the hard way that it makes it almost impossible to tell how much is actually IN your stomach at a given time--it seems to make things relax to the point that my usual "I'm full" signals don't work very well... I'll leave the rest to your imagination, but it was not pretty and I didn't even get to enjoy a buzz!! LOL
As with all things post-sleeve, caution and paying attention to your body are the keys--only problem is that it's difficult to do that with the alcohol working in you. :-) Slow is your best bet.

MegInNOLA got a reaction from Lainybee1987 in The Stomach Gurgles......
LOL Oh, you'll know if it's something your sleeve doesn't like, and not from any gurgles. Those gurgles get a whole lot quieter when you begin to add back solid food (even mushies), so don't worry--mine still makes obnoxious noises, but it's not all the time any more. You'll know if your sleeve doesn't like something because you will "feel" it--it kind of hurts, and you'll feel slightly nauseous/queasy, and you may even slime a bit (excess saliva that you can't seem to stop producing). I get that feeling with even small bites of things like roast beef or turkey, also Pasta or bread. The noise doesn't indicate a problem food, just liquid or air in your gastric tract; it will work its way out one way or another.

MegInNOLA got a reaction from ericaseymore in still vomiting after week 5 HELP
I had vomiting for the first 7 weeks after surgery, almost every single day--why? Because I was not on a PPI!!! My surgeon does not routinely prescribe it post surgery. Once I started taking Prilosec, it was like a miracle--suddenly, food stayed down! Now, I still can't eat much at one time, only a couple of tablespoons per "meal," but it stays down and I'm feeling so much better.
If you're not already on a PPI, get some generic omeprazole and try it out. Can't hurt and might help. Use it for a couple of days and then try something really bland and really soft, like mashed potatoes, and only eat a tablespoon... see if that stays down. At this point, don't worry about carbs or whatever, just see if you can get something gentle to stay down. Tiny bites, please, and wait a few minutes between bites.
I really hope you find some answers--NOBODY should have to go through vomiting every day, and I should know!!

MegInNOLA got a reaction from LIA-70 in 36 Pounds Lost In 32 Days...good?
Y'all are having wonderful losses! Good for you! One tip I found was that in order to get in more fluids, I needed some flavor in there--I used watered-down Gatorade, since I really like the taste, but you can also Water down a lot of other juices/beverages for flavor, which will encourage you to drink more, one of those "I like it, so I drink it because it tastes good" kind of things.
    Keep on rocking your sleeves!!!
