  1. I was sleeved 8/16 so I am on Day 6. I had much more pain from the drain than anything else. I really think my body just hates foreign objects so I can't imagine what I would have done if I chose the band! I have been able to get my fluids in. I sip, sip, sip. My biggest problem is the dizziness. I am slightly dizzy any time I move. That could be from a multitude of things, but my guess is the no carb, no sugar restriction. I guess my body has to adjust. I am not in a lot of pain. I have a nagging pain in my left side, but it isn't unbearable and when it gets too bad I take liquid tylenol. I go back to work tomorrow. That is going to be rough because I am tired and dizzy. It probably doesn't help that I am running around after a 2 year old. I did notice a significant change in my swelling from yesterday to today so maybe the Fluid and gas is finally making its way out. I have to keep remembering that everyone is different and that I had major surgery just 6 days ago.
  2. YES! Hiccups hurt! Breathing exercises are no fun either.
  3. I'm not scheduled for a visit until 3 months out unless there are complications. I have had issues with Potassium before but those almost always present as muscle cramps with me. I'm betting on the change in carbs & sugar coupled with the travel and stress. (Oh and I had my first BM today...and 2nd and 3rd!)
  4. i was a carb-a-holic so this could very easily be carb-withdrawal I think. I was ok in the hospital, but all I did was sleep, sip, and walk. I probably napped more than I realized. The trip coming home yesterday took a LOT out of me. I'm so excited that the baby and I will be going to bed early tonight. I need to be more gentle with myself and stop forgetting that I had major surgery. The good part is that I made the baby her dinner (Breakfast sausage and eggs - my FAVE!) and while it smells good I am not tempted at all to eat any of it. Before I wouldn't have been able to keep my composure at all.
  5. Hi y'all. I am on day 5 post-op. It is my first day at home with the baby. She has been really great with watching movies most of the day and laying in my lap. We went for a short walk. I took a nap this afternoon when she did, but I am absolutely exhausted. I am also a little dizzy. Has this happened to anyone else? I am eating SF popsicles, drinking decaf tea, sugar free apple cider, and propel zero Water. I took my B12 this morning, but it didn't seem to give me any energy at all. Is this normal? The only real pain I am having is the soreness below my ribcage and on my left side. My larger incision is itching so I assume that it is healing. It isn't red or hot - just weeping clear or yellow Fluid. Thanks! HDub
  6. I have been drinking propel zero water and either chicken or beef broth. Popsicles and jello are helping a lot too. I hope you feel better.
  7. I have been sleeved for five days and there are some things that I have learned already. (in no particular order) - the "sharts" are very real and you shouldn't try to guess what is air and what is not. It can be messy. - most if not all medicines are ridiculously nasty when crushed and mixed with anything - however those same nasty crushed meds work super fast compared to before - coughing after surgery hurts - I have never been so afraid of sneezing in my life - I havent eaten anything in 5 days and I don't miss it. I have some head hunger but it is controllable unlike before. - it is surreal to go from never being full to only being able to eat a few small bites of Jello. Oh and healing incisions ITCH!
  8. I made it across the country on two planes and two cars to get back home. I will be honest, the travel was tougher than I expected. I sipped my Water and walked on the plane, but I was SO tired the whole time. Once I got home, I started feeling dizzy. I realize that I hadn't had anything to drink the whole last flight because there was no beverage service and I had to rush onto the plane. I was asleep before the wheels left the ground. So now I a home and getting down a little more liquid and going to bed. I will be picking up the baby tomorrow. I'm not hungry which is AMAZING but I am so tired I can barely function.
  9. I am doing better physically today but mentally I am worn. It is day 3. I had my drain removed and have been eating chicken broth, Gatorade, and some chamomile tea. Apple juice doesn't agree with nor does the tea. I feel better physically but I am exhausted. I have taken 2 naps already today. I feel drained. It is probably just recovering from the last few days.
  10. Day two was not my favorite day. Day one was more of a breeze because I was still high. Yesterday I was living with the surgery aspect. My pain was managed but not so much that I couldn't function. I got to walk around and did my juice test. It was very nasty. I finished with all positive reviews. I got a sleeping pill last night and was out like a light! Today is much better. I had my fluoroscopy test and passed. It is so neat to see things go through your new tummy. I am having chicken broth and Gatorade. I hope all the other slivers this week are having a great experience.
  11. I am hypothyroid too. does anyone have a sample vitamin schedule they would like to post?
  12. Thank you all. Suzanne I will probably be calling you once I get home.
  13. I am doing great. Lots of gas and drain pain, but it is being managed well. My nausea is being managed too. I have walked a couple of times and not having too much difficulty. I'm going back to la la land now. Will post more later!
  14. I am here at Almater now. I was sleeved yesterday. I am high as a kite right now. Everything people havesaid about the doctors and the facility is true. It is better than I could have imagined.
  15. I am on east coast time in my head so I was up at 4 AM this morning. I was able to pee three times so the gas is moving around. Lol- every time I take a breath the pee stops so I am holding my breath to go! I was able to get up, put my bottoms on, brush my teeth and hair, and go walk around. I think the walking helped push the gas into shoulder because it is pretty uncomfortable. The part that is worst right now is where my drain is. I dint know if it is the drain or the gas but no bueno! I just got a shot of pain meds so I will be asleep again soon. Good luck to everyone on their sleeviness.
  16. I made a post tonight. I am Sleevy Baby! Woot woot!
  17. Oh and thank you for thinking of me!
  18. I stocked up on those water mixers before I left home. Ocean spray makes a good one. HawaiiAn punch makes a good strawberry lemonade. I also have the Mio water flavorings that add some variety. I get bored with the tartness of crystal lite sometimes and these help. Oh and propel makes one too that I think has electrolytes. I didn't care for the special k protein waters. They had a weird aftertaste to me. I hope this helps give you some other options if yu are tired of the same old same.
  19. If you bulld it they will come. Sorry just kidding. I believe the sleeve works because I have seen so many successes. Yes other diets have spokespeople and that is great, but here in was we just have our real people experiences to depend on. I have never seen any "plan" have so many successes with people with higher bmis consistently. Be positive. If you work it, you will lose.
  20. Thanks so much y'all! Can you tell I am from Georgia? LOL! I just made a post in the post op thread. At least I think i did?!
  21. I got my sleeve this morning at 10 AM. The surgery went well and recovery so far hasn't been bad. The only pain I am feeling is from the drain and even then it is more sore than painful. I have been having issues with nausea. I have a tendency to feel nauseas from anesthesia but I am allergic to zofran (which seems to be a great drug). Dr. aceves says he hasn't encountered someone with this allergy so he using other meds on me. Earlier today I had a hard time when I sat on the side of the bed and actually dry heaved when I walked. The doctors told me it was ok to take it slow so there hasn't been a lot of pressure on me to go visit my neighbors until tomorrow. I did wake up a few minutes ago and was able to sit up, walk myself to the bathroom, and walk around my room a bit. It is a sign I am doing better and I will take it! I have my dye test in the morning and then I will be allowed liquids. I have had a bottle of Water at my bedside to rinse my mouth and spit into a basin. Those first few hours it was invaluable because I was so dry my tongue was sticking to my cheeks! I am a little concerned I haven't peed yet. I felt like I had to go but nothing happened. I am on my third bag of saline. Maybe I was just dehydrated? To all today's sleevers - good luck!
  22. I think it depends on your body but 32 is the smallest I have heard of. Congrats on moving around so early!
  23. Great job! Congrats on your sleeve!
  24. I haven't met anyone yet but I haven't really been able to leave my room. I am too nauseas. Tomorrow though!
