  1. Shelli, I just got insurance approval on friday so now I'm doing all my preop stuff this month. I do have to have a scope and he will take a biopy for H pylori. (I have no idea what that is) I also will have blood work, xray, pulmonary function with arterial blood gases and i have to attend a nutrition class. This is after a phychological evaluation and nutritional eval. from a registered dietitian. The surgery is being done at a very wiil known bariatic center so i guess the doctor is just careful. I'm just so happy that I got approval with the first request. Roxanne
  2. Hey guys/girls, I to am from Georgia. I live in White near Cartersville. I have just been approved by my insurance company for the surgery. I am going to Dr. Lin he is with Emory in Atlanta. I start all my preop tests on the 16th then have a final meeting with the surgeon. Getting a little scared. I to was considering Dr. Ortiz. He sound wonderful. But if my insurance will pay for I will stay in the states. Good luck. Do you guys have a date. I'm thinking mine will be in May.
  3. Tracy, This is Roxie. Guess what. I got the call today. I am approved for surgery. I start all my pre-op appointments on the 16 of April. I guess I will be a May bandster. I am excited and scared at the same time. I kind of put it on the back burner because I didn't hear anything then out of the blue I got the call and she said I am approved. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  4. I'm from White, Ga in the northwest area around Cartersville. I have not been banded yet either. I'm waiting to see if my insurance is going to cover it or not. I have done everything that was needed. So it got turned in to the the insurance company so now we wait and see. My surgeon is Dr. Lin at Emory Bariatrics in Atlanta. If my insurance won't cover it I'm on a plane to Mexico and will have Dr. Ortiz do the surgery. Everything I have read about him sounds good. I have read his book Lap Band for Life and I think he is more than quailified. My big fear with having the surgery in Mexico is having someone here in the states if you have an emergency. I talked to Carolyn (She works in Dr. Ortiz's office) and she said the doctors in Georgia have gotten together and they charge Mexico banders $2000.00 to take over their care. Can anyone tell me what the interest rate was with Capitol One? I have gotten a loan in case I have to self pay and its rate is 11% I think that is high I have a good credit score.
  5. Wow Brenda you are a member of the 100 lb club. You are a inspiration to me. I'm am so proud of you and I bet your life is so much better. Roxie1951
  6. Tracy, I have been following your posts and could not find where you had your surgery. I'm glad I found you again and have your date. Keep us posted. I have my appointment with the surgeon on Weds. the 14th of Feb., but then its the insurance waiting game. I have all of the other requirements done. But I'm sure the insurance company will come up with some reason to deny me. I am so happy for you. I'm sure the wait will go by quickly and the end result will be worth it. Roxie
  7. Hi Everyone, I am in the process of getting insurance approval. My insurance is BCBS Georgia HMO so I know it will be a fight. I hate insurance companies. My doctor is in the process of getting my medical necessity letter ready.(The first one got lost) The referral and the medical letter of clearance for surgery is at the surgeon office. I have an appointment Monday with the dietitian for a nutritional evaluation and a appointment for my psychological examine on January 31st. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row so if and when the insurance company says yes I'm ready. I know if the insurance company says no I will be on a flight to Mexico for a self pay. I want to get rid of this weight so bad I'm willing to do anything I have to do. Is there anyone else from Georgia that is in the process or that has already been banded? I'm trying to have my surgery at Emroy hospital in Atlanta.I'm going to Emroy Bariatrics . I really enjoyed the web site keep up the good work
