  1. I'm about 4 and a half months post op and down around 50 pounds.. I was pretty happy with the weight loss I was having.. Up until my last visit.. I only lost .9 pounds in 5 weeks. But, I know why.. I can eat as much as I want of whatever I want.. UGH. I know I shouldn't, but I just get hungry.. And eat. Too much. Of stuff I shouldn't have. So mad at myself right now... I have to go back Monday and I'm so scared of going and have gained weight. I will definitely be asking for a fill though.
  2. Who have you told about the LapBand? I personally am not telling many about my surgery. Out of my family only my parents and one of my aunts know and I also have one friend that I have told about it. People have so many different opinions of it and of course there's always the "It's the easy way out" (which is not the case at all) and the "Why can't you just do it the normal way?" which are really my reasons in not telling others.. Changing life-long habits is hard and the last thing I want to deal with is people criticizing and questioning me, so they just won't know.. Which leads to my next question.. What do you tell people when they ask you about how you lost the weight? Obviously there's always the diet and exercise, but do people really believe it? I'm in college and will be having the surgery over out Christmas break, in which I won't see any of my friends for a month so I'm guessing they will probably notice, and I know my family will notice since I don't come home from school that often.. I guess in the end it doesn't really matter what you tell people and if they believe you or not, I was just wondering what yall tell people
  3. Yeah.. That's one of the reasons I'm not just telling everyone. I don't need other questioning everything I do, especially since most don't even know how the band works. If someone told me I was taking the easy way out, I would probably say very not nice things to them (LOL). I don't even have mine yet and having to change my eating habits and excluding things from my diet completely is soo difficult... Especially when it comes to cooking. It is nice to be able to make one dish and it last for a week though!

  6. Hey... We have about the same stats and I'm having my surgery about a week after yours so I thought we could keep up with each others progress :)

  7. You can do it! I need to lose about 170 so we have about the same amount to lose!

Do You Drink Coffee After Lap Band Surgery ?

Personally, I can't tell the difference between regular and decaf coffee, so I just stick to the decaf

How Often Do You Weigh In?

I haven't been banded yet, but I weight at least once a week.. I feel like it makes me make sure I stay to the pre-op diet (mine is a month) because I know I have to weigh in a few days, but that's just me. I know after surgery my doctor doesn't want you to weight yourself at all, so the only time I weight after surgery is supposed to be when I go to see him.
  15. I'm having my LapBand done on Dec. 20th and i have to get a hernia fixed as well. I don't really think it adds any extra pain or healing time but I could be wrong
  16. Had an abnormal EKG with all the pre-surgery testing... Going to the cardiologist today to see if anythings wrong and to get clearance for surgery

  17. I just realized we have pretty much the same stats... I'm just 5" 5' :)

  18. One of the reasons that the only family that knows is my parents and my one aunt (who doesn't live here) is because they really just can't keep their mouth shut... When and if I decide I want people to know, I want to tell them not them already know from someone else. As for what I'll tell people when I disappear for two days and why I'm not working, I don't really know. I'll leave that for figuring out later. Haha
  19. One month until surgery!

  20. If people get mad, they get mad. I don't tell many people personal things to begin with so I feel as if I wasn't close enough to them to tell them, then I don't care if they are mad or not....

The pages of this chapter come down to their last.

    Good luck tomorrow!
  22. I had mentioned to another friend a while back that I was thinking about getting it and all that she would do is just say "No, don't do it" and blah blah but never would give a reason why. After that was when I decided to not tell people. I may tell people later but right now I feel as if it will be easier without others knowing and looking at everything I do and always asking how much I've lost.

    26 in Tennessee

I'm not in Nashville, but I know how you feel. My doctor has a private facebook group for patients and pretty much everyone is at least 20 years older than me... *sigh*
