  1. If you get a chance, visit Baptist medical Center in Okie City to see if they can't help, at least talk to them. I really don't have any business giving advice, only having been banded three days, but I had such a wonderful experience at an ACS Center of Excellence (of which Baptist Medical is one) that I have become sort of an evangelist for them. Just try them if you can, you won't regret it. Whatever you decide, best of luck to you.
  2. I was banded two days ago with wonderful results, If there was any advice I could give you, it would be to find a ACS Center Of Excellence and go through their program. Look around and find other CoE patients and see their results. I don't think you will ever regret it. What ever you decide, the very best of luck.
  3. I was just wondering how you made out. Glad you don't need pain meds. I got back yesterday and DW and the dogs and I went for a 2 mile walk and I feel great. I am awfully hungry, though. Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress.
  4. I hope you have as easy a proceedure as i had. Best of luck and keep a positive attitude.
  5. Well, It's all over and couldn't have gone better. No pain except a very little around the port. My surgeon calls it "Modified Plication and a sizable portion of the stomach is folded over the band and deadens a portion of the sensors responsible for hunger.
  6. I just got mine yesterday. I couldn't have had a better experience.
  7. I prefer Splenda, it dosen't seem to have any aftertaste. I'm having the same surgery tomorrow. It seems like the best option for me.
  8. I mixed the next batch with a little cool Water and it seemed to mix ok, but the first batch was like concrete.
  9. Well, my doctor said he was going to fold a good part of my stomach over the band to make weight loss faster and prevent band slippage (sounds awful). He called it "modified plication". This is at a Center of Excellence hospital and my doctor has been called "one of the best". I'll find out more about it and let you know.
  10. Thanks Rachel, I figured, just making sure.
  11. I just learned that if you mix protein isolate powder, with hot soup, you'll have dumplings as well. The stuff gets hard as a board. I guess it has to be mixed with cool water first. Clear liquid stage sucks.
  12. Me too and I'm hungry as hell! Best of luck
  13. The American College of Surgeons is the group to look for when considering a Center of Excellence. There are other groups offering accredidation, but the ACS is, by far the best.
  14. I should have put this in the last post. The Geisinger Clinic is fully accredited by the Anerican College of Surgeons(there are four in PA) and should give you the very best service you'll find.
  15. I'm driving more than 150 miles through the worst traffic in the country to go to an ACS Center of Excellence. You'll probably have your Lapband for the rest of your life and it'll, no doubt, be a very large part of your life, so it just makes good sense to get the very best surgery you can. Al's plumbing and Lapband service is probably a bad bet. Make the trip, you won't regret it and the very best of luck to you.
  16. As long as it's not red and hot, still in the right place, it's probably ok, but if you're really concerned, you should thinking about seeing a medical professional. Good luck in whatever decide.
  17. Sometimes you just have to eat something good! Watch your step from here on out! ; > )
  18. Lapband surgery has changed a great deal in the past few years. According to my surgeon, the failure rate for ACS accredited Lapband operations is currently less than 1%. Previously, the failure rate was about 8%. Hopefully, in a year or so, we can survey todays patients receiving the Lapband in accredited Hospitals and clinics to see just how dependable they are.
  19. If you look at how a straw works you'll see that the level of liquid in the straw is the same as the level in the container. From the top of the liquid to the top of the straw is air. Every time you drink, you swallow that amount of air. If it bothers you, don't do it, if it doesn't cause you distress, you're good to go. But do what your doctor tells you anyway ; > )
  20. I wonder if there isn't some confusion about Plication, banded Plication, and the procedure where a portion of the stomach is folded over the band to prevent slippage, sometimes called "Modified Plication". I'm having the latter done Monday and I'll let you know how it goes.
  21. Try a defrosted meatball blended with a little spaghetti sauce and Pamrisian cheese. It shouldn't have too many calories, and really sounds good. Go to Google and enter WLS recipies and you should get a wealth of ideas. Best of luck to you.
  22. Amy, would you mind if I save your post to give to others with questions? Your name is on the top so the article is always yours, I'd just like to borrow it.
  23. Many hospitals ask that you bring your mask with you--if-- you know the pressure setting of your machine. If not, you should bring the entire machine. Most have carrying bags, so it really isn't a problem.
  24. I'm scheduled to get the Lapband Monday and was wondering if anyone had the procedure that has been called "modified plication" where a part of the stomach is stitched over the band? I ride horses and stuff and am concerned about band slippage.
