    Nine month update...

You are inspiring to me! Congratulations!
  3. I am 5 weeks out... have noticed a small amount of hair loss. I've been using a product called Curetage that my sister recommended. The product is available online. She has thinning hair naturally, and this product did wonders for her. I'm hoping it will slow things down for me, too!
  4. I am 1 month post op as of yesterday. 27 lbs down and actually doing pretty good. My food choices have not been tops, but ok. I can't wait to have a salad again someday .. and raw veggies.. not sure when that happens. The biggest struggle has been craving diet cokes. I've not had one, but its a craving as strong as wanting to smoke a cigarette after years of not smoking. It will be okay soon. I can't tell you all enough how thankful I am to have found this forum and get so much motivation and information from you guys. Thanks for sharing your information! I'm thrilled that I had the VS, and encouraged everyday.

What did I do to myself?

I've noticed in the last few days that it is a struggle to sit while others eat their dinner. I know I'm supposed to take 30 minutes to eat... but honestly, it just doesn't take that long. I ended up not going to two parties this weekend because I couldn't handle the thought of being around food, alcohol, sodas, and swimming. Been banned from swimming until completely healed (doc didn't want to risk infection). I don't feel hungry at the dinner table, but the head hunger can be a monster sometimes.. How do people handle business dinners? I'm going to a very nice dinner in Vegas next month... will be well over $100 per person pre-set dinner and I'm going to have 3 or 4 bites? Will be in a hotel, so no leftovers going back to the room. I can't imagine having that kind of money spent on me, and then have to sit and wait for the others to finish... Going to my first group meeting tomorrow night... can't wait to ask that question... I did just pull a lot of old clothes from my closet that I won't be wearing next month ... donating tomorrow! Now that feels super good! Down 27 lbs. Post op 4 weeks today. :001_unsure:
  6. I tried ground beef with pasta tonight... bad mistake.. I've never had such horrible burning pain in my chest. Been almost 2 hours ago... how long does this last? I can't make myself vomit, just freaks me out too much. Will put that item on the bottom of the list.

What did I do to myself?

Hi Carrie - hang in there! I'm 3 weeks post-op and finally beginning to feel like I'm gaining some energy. I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Castro (I'm in the DFW area, too). Just call the doctor's office with any issues you're having... especially the depression.. they will work with you. I promise, it will get better.. just get plenty of rest, fluids and protein... and don't overdo it. You're going to do great!
  8. I am right there where you guys were... on my 3rd bottle of Lortab... will they refill more? Tylenol just doesn't cut it... Are you all beginning to see some improvement? Tomorrow is 2 weeks for me...

    Just need to vent

Hang in there... I'm sure you've experienced the quiet reactions from people before about the surgery... I certainly have and I'm only 2 weeks post op. Unfortunately, there will be people jealous, or those waiting for us to fail, and they are not worth the time to even consider thinking about... There's also those who just don't understand, so they say nothing. You take care of yourself, start job hunting... just think, you can go buy a new suit and stand proud. You've made a huge accomplishment! Have a terrific week!

    Sunday Praise and Worship

You guys are so awesome! I'm still listening for my "God Song" ... most of the time it is "I Can Only Imagine" - grabs my heart everytime I hear it! Have a blessed week!
  11. I'm going through the same thing... went back to work today and sat at my desk way too long... probably will stay home tomorrow. Hurts to walk or do much of anything... not to mention the thought of getting into my car. I feel like I've got a torn muscle in my lower abdomen. This too shall pass with time. Need more Hydrocodone... Tylenol won't cut the pain.
  12. That is great news! Just think... you might be able to help some obese children to learn how to enjoy exercise and turn it around while they are young!
  13. Best of luck with your surgery! I'm 5 days post op. Be sure to go to the store and stock up on a variety of protein drinks, variety of broth, etc.. The Isopure has been my favorite so far.. As they say, as soon as you can, get up and walk around as much as possible. It will help tremendously. Take care of yourself and follow your post op instructions and you'll do fine!
  14. I'm 5 days post op... I would LOVE to have a diet coke, but trust me, there is absolutely NO WAY that I would want the carbonation in my stomach... it would be incredibly painful. Currently dealing with drinking too large sips of liquid alone is a challenge.. You'll be okay, but be prepared to give it up. Hang in there!
  15. My sleeve was on Aug 10th here in Dallas with Dr. Nick... Hanging in there with the clear liquids!
