    Utter Shock

Your soooo lucky I am hoping to be an Aug. bandster too. Actually I was hoping to be a July no wait a June bandster. I'm done with pretty much everything but things seem to keep getting postponed . Good luck on your journey and hopefully I won't be far behind !!

    Struggling

It's great that you already started a pre-op diet. I don't have my date yet either but unlike you I have been eating like I will never eat again. Once I have to start the pre-op I will be in shock but I can't wait to get going. Good luck !!!
  3. "I can with absolute certainty that even when I was doing Protein drinks for meals and following a very strict diet, I was very hungry. So yes I will say that this "tool" has not done anything for me. People can criticize all they want but if the only difference I feel from the band has been reflux how can anyone say this is a tool for me?" I don't think it is for you! If it is making you sick and your not losing weight why don't you have it removed instead of complaining and making your life miserable.
  4. Congratulations ! Glad your feeling better

  5. You have nothing to feel sad about, you are doing fantastic and those people obviously have no idea what the band is. It is a tool not a miracle ! Did they think the weight would all be gone soon after surgery? You need to stay around positive people not ones who will bring you down. You need to think about yourself only now not what people are thinking about you. I actually only told one person about getting my surgery. I don't have a date yet but I'm sure I will have to tell those closest to me soon. Just not sure of the outcome. I have MS and my husband is not real happy about me having surgery of any kind so this is not a favorable thing for me to be doing.
  6. Congratulations you are doing so GOOD ! Did you find any really good tasting Protein drinks?
  7. Sorry karynj I don't have a date yet I wish I did. I'm not sure who it is that is having the surgery on the 12th but can't wait for my date and wish her the best of luck !

    not banded yet!

I'm with you about that. Surgery for weight loss is not the easy way out, it is just the only way out for a lot of people. People act like you have the surgery and POOF your thin (that would be nice) it is a hard life long battle, but people who have never had a weight problem just don't get it. It was perfect one day when I was told to just watch what I eat #%# .She was a heavy smoker so that gave me a perfect opening when I started the whole story on her just don't smoke, don't buy cigarettes. I have to eat and buy food and prepare food everyday. You never HAVE to buy cigarettes or be around cigarettes or have to smoke to stay alive. SUCCESS SHE HAS NEVER SAID ANOTHER WORD ! Easy way out my a$$.
  9. It might not be advised but very few if any don't have there pig-out time before surgery. It is almost a given. My only problem is figuring out and writing down the most important foods that I need to have so I get them in
  10. That's good to know that they are OK mixed with Water, a drink fast and easy is always a plus. I meant to ask where you get the nectar powder from. Can you get them at Wal*Mart or Shop Rite or does it need to be a health food store. So nice you have a date and it's very close GOOD LUCK!
  11. Thank you I will definitely try the powder Syntrax nectar. Looking for something that I'm not going to get sick at the thought of having to fix one.

    not banded yet!

Amy, He says he doesn't think I need to lose weight and because of the MS he is afraid of me having the surgery. I have had several surgeries before without a problem. Once I finally get a date then I will tell him that I have done all the requirements and am going thru with it hopefully with your blessings. I know it is going to be a long process and I am so anxious to just get started.
  13. I just asked I think it was yesterday about the 2 week pre-op diet. Most Drs I think do require it but then you hear about a few who have nothing more than the typical fast before any surgery. Well good luck with everything and welcome to the board !

    not banded yet!

I haven't told anyone my plans but my sister-in-law who had gastric years ago and I knew she would understand. I mentioned a few months back that I was thinking about it and got nothing but negativity. After that I haven't said anything about it to any one so they all just figure it was another weight loss plan that faded. My husband was really against it, I'm obviously going to have to tell him but not till it's over.
  15. Good Luck tomorrow. I wonder why some MDs put you on a 2 week liquid and some don't. They say it has something to do with making your liver smaller. I guess it depends on whether your MD can work around a bigger liver ! Best of luck in the AM. Keep us posted.
  16. Good Luck and keep us pre-opers up to date
  17. Sounds like me but I'm really hoping I can do my 2 week pre-op. I really am afraid for my last meal. Are you doing it longer than 2 weeks because you wanted to (if so I give you credit) or is that the way your Doc. says to? I just wish he would give me a date so I know what kind of time-line I'm working with. The endoscopy is what is holding things up I can't seem to get an appoint. FYI one of my Daughters name is Erin, just a different spelling.

    I cant wait

Congratulations on the 16 lbs. I am so looking forward for the surgery so I can start my NEW WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY. I am really counting on this being the final tool that will work for me because I have tried everything else, Over and over again !

Welcome and good luck. Any questions you have you can ask and someone will have answers to get you through. not banded yet!

Weights in my pockets, shoes left on, my cane still in my hand and my jacket on which was a little hard to get away with since it was 96* out, and a full stomach after a very large lunch! So different than a regular DR visit when you would like to be stripped down and have an empty stomach! Oh well a girl has to do what a girl has to do. Good Luck !
  21. Congratulations !! I am waiting for that call myself and hoping for an Aug. date because it would be the best birthday present ever. Good luck

    not banded yet!

Amy Hi I also have MS and have been waiting to get banded for years. The fact that they lowered the BMI was great . I kept eating until I gained enough to be considered which in itself is ridiculous but you do what you have to do. Hoping for an Aug. surgery date, it would be a great birthday present. Start the process because it takes awhile and is worth a shot !!
  23. I was wondering what all the different pre op diets are, for how long you need to be on them and do all doctors use them? I heard about the protein drinks and from different ones I've spoken to, it doesn't seem easy to find one that tastes decent ! UGGH
  24. DRCS

    Pre op liquid diet

I seem to hear of more people with the problem of finding decent tasting mixes then actually getting good tasting drinks. I am sure there must be a few around that you can buy in small containers to try rather than those gigantic barrels they seem to come in. If I could find one that tasted great mixing it with fruit or coffee or some kind of flavoring I would be ecstatic. The $ being wasted now is ridiculous but I'm trying to get a head start so when I have to drink it I am prepared and not getting sick and starving at the same time. Maybe I will give the EAS a try, Thanks
  25. I totally get it ! I don't even have my surgery date but have been eating anything and everything in sight before I have to start the pre-op diet. I'm making a list of restaurants and foods that I need/have to get in before it's too late. When I had my psych evaluation he kind of looked at me when I mentioned having my last meal. Thought I blew it at that point but luckily I didn't. He just doesn't get it like most THIN people.
