Janese58 reacted to DeniseM in Does anything know about death in Mexico.
I just have to say that no matter where your surgery is, U.S., Mexico, or anywhere in the world, and no matter who your doctor is, or how highly trained they are, one of the risks of surgery is death. We are all told this, and we all make a choice if we are going to take the chance in going through with the surgery. I am so sorry for the family of this woman who passed, but this is the reality of VSG. There are risks, and sometimes the worst case scenario happens, and it happens to all surgeons all over the world.

    Hi guys
I dont usually read or post on the boards anymore but this issue was brought to my attention and I wanted to clear things up so here goes. Sticks was at the Marriott in PV. Things are different there. Before today this issue wasnt ever brought up so I wasnt even aware that the hotel charged for the same things patients get for free in TJ. I have brought this to Dr Lopez's attention. Im not sure anything will change but it never hurts to ask. Its all about location, location, location. The surgery it self is more as is the airfare to get there and everything else. The Marriott DOES NOT provide free anything. Its a tourist/vacation resort area. In TJ you get those things free but of course you dont get the view you get in PV. Its a toss up. I would never mislead anyone. Those of you who have had surgery and used me as your coordinator know I go to great lengths to provide quick and honest answers to all your questions. If I wasnt being honest do you think I would be giving out my "personal' cell phone number and adding patients to my personal Facebook for all my friends and family to see? Please let me know if you have any questions I can help with. Im going back to work now.....

Janese58 reacted to DONNAZANG in Dr. Kelly No Longer Working With Alightme- Safety Concerns Or Simply Business Issues?
    Andrea,
Yes, people know about the fact that there are issues between the coordinators and Dr Kelly. Someone here was asking about him and I had personal conversations with him that show a completely different character than what those thousands of patients saw. When questioned, another side of him comes out. He may have a lot of experience, but his character, the one I have had recent personal experience with, seems shady and dishonest. You asked what more reassurance I want than to read testimonies of happy patients. I just wanted HIS reassurance. I was giving him a chance to respond. What I got was him lying and blaming the coordinators. The first time I spoke with him he told me that it would have been nice to know that his coordinators were no longer referring patients to him. He said, "well, if they wanna play it that way...they were no good at representing me anyhow." The email said, "they're just bitter because I dumped them." So what is it they stopped representing him or he dumped them? Why on earth would he say they were no good at representing him? If you look up his name on the internet, anywhere you see it and click on it, it leads you to alighterme.com. I have verified with two hospitals that he is no longer able to practice in them. Something is going on. I just think if someone has their concerns that they should be informed as well as possible. I responded to his email. I told him that we had spoken on the phone prior to the email and that his responses were contradictory. He addressed his response to: "Donna" if that's really your name and not a fake patient sent by the ladies. Later on he calls me by name with quotations around it.
I will not be going to him and that is disappointing to me because I have to start over, but I need character as well as skill. I don't want someone who I have personally caught lying to operate on me. I will be going with my gut. Dr Garcia sounds like a good choice and after speaking with both Sandy and Linda, I don't understand why you insult either of them. Sandy did not come off as "the goofy" as you call her. They both seemed very passionate about what they are doing, being WLS patients themselves. I felt really at ease the first time I spoke with Sandy. It was a very long conversation and it seemed like we connected. I almost felt guilty calling Dr Kelly in regards to what she said because she seemed so honest it felt like a betrayal. But I'm going to do all I can to get the truth. I spoke with LInda today and it was the same thing. These women are making money to coordinate surgeries. Is this what upsets you? They are nice people doing their job. Everyone expects that they will get paid for doing their job. After speaking with and email corresponding with Dr Kelly, I got a really bad feeling from him. I will be doing my research, starting over, and I'll say again, I just thought people should know.

Janese58 got a reaction from Delovelly in I Feel Like Maybe I Should Cancel My Surgery?
I wouldnt worry too much about the cheating. I have read on here some surgeons dont even require much of a preop diet. Others start the preop a month ahead. Others make you do a laxative 3 days before and clear liquid only after that until surgery. The real problem could be after the surgery and your husband trying to sabotage your recovery.

I too have insurance (Kaiser to be exact) and didnt want to deal with their crap so I self paid and went to Dr Ramos Kelly. Much easier than dealing with my insurance. I am thinking about canceling it and saving the $300.00 a month and use ugent care if I get sick. After paying the $300 a month I cant afford the $70. copay.

Janese58 got a reaction from Norman in 2 weeks, 3 days out... can I drink yet?
Once again....what a couple of clowns. I never thought for a minute a "she" wrote the original post. As for judging etc. someones morals, GDC "asked" for everyone's opinion by coming on here and annoucning his intentions. Who in their right mind gets this surgery to just turn around and start abusing it 2 weeks out? Give me a break......99% of the people on here are serious about losing weight and moving onto a healthier lifestyle. The other 1% are drinking and abusing alcohol 2 weeks out.

Janese58 got a reaction from LilMissDiva Irene in Why Don't Skinny People Get It ?
I once asked a skinny friend of mine how would she cope if she was allowed to drink only 1 beer...that was it...just 1. She loves to go have beer and watch the football games etc, go camping...all involve her friends and drinking. Like my activities involve going out to lunch with my friends. It put it into perspective for her. I also added she couldnt just quit drinking...that would have been easier....she had to drink one. Just like we have to eat now...just alot smaller portions.
