MGBforME got a reaction from Band07 in What "negatives" are you experiencing?
I am also looking to go to MGB from sleeve ( VSG 11-15-11) seeking the mal-absorption component which is key to long term weight loss and maintanence, I have found. I have read that most of the restrictive surgeries, fail over time as the body adjusts to the lowered calorie intake and stalls, with malabsorption component, it seems to allow the continued additional help". Happy to have found this forum!

So I have made it through surgery and the first week of post-op. It hasn't been all sunshine but the worst of it is over. I go into a little more detail on my blog The MGB and Me.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and I look forward to hearing and sharing as I go along the path to my new life.

Not having clothes because I keep shrinking out of them. I live in PJ's and scrubs. that's about it.

I also have a 9' bypass. When I talked about it with my surgeon about this subject he asked me "What percentage of what you use to eat are you eating?" Yes, it's a lot less, but I feel if I didn't eat healthy I could easily gain weight.

At 18 months out, the most I can eat of anything is one cup in about thirty minutes. But.....if I don't space myself out with Water in-between meals, it would be too easy to eat again in another thirty minutes, like djmohr just said.

    This is a great topic.
I am 8.5 months post op. In the beginning I was lucky if I could get 1/4 cup in. As the swelling in my tummy went down i noticed I could eat more depending on what I was eating. For example, if I eat Soup, yogurt or soft foods I can eat 3/4 to 1 cup at this point. If I eat meat like chicken, fish, beef, pork I can eat maybe a half a cup.
My nut actually cleared a lot of this up for me as well. She mentioned and continues to tell me this. You have to think about the amount of food you are ingesting after it is chewed up because that is actually how it enters your tummy. the volume of food you eat post chewing is actually more than if you just measured it.
which if you think about this it makes sense.
I no longer measure my food. I know what my stomach can tolerate and I have learned over time to eat slowly (no more than 30 minutes) and pay attention to whether or not I am satiated. If you do that, all the measuring stuff which I did religiously in the beginning won't be necessary.
I never take longer than 30 minutes because your pouch begins to empty at that point. If you continue to eat past that point you could in fact be over eating. This was one of the rules my Bariatric team drilled into my head and I follow religiously. You could literally eat all day and eat around the new tool you have.
I also steer clear of any fluids 30 minutes before and after eating so I don't flush my food before my body has a chance to absorb the nutrients.

Welcome to the Mini Gastric Bypass (Omega Loop) Surgery Forum! This is the place for you if you have the mini gastric bypass, if you're thinking about getting it, or if you just want to learn a little bit about it. Come talk about:
The mini gastric bypass diet. Risks and complications. Amount of weight you can expect to lose. The procedure. Nutritional deficiencies. The mini gastric bypass surgery has been around for a while, but it’s been getting more attention recently. The procedure and amount of weight people lose are similar to the roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery procedure, but the Omega loop procedure is quicker. You may be a little less likely to have complications from it, too.
Enjoy the Mini Gastric Bypass (Omega Loop) Surgery Forum!

MGBforME reacted to SUNNYNYC in So how much have you lost weekly
I am 1 month out of surgery with 27lb weight loss. The first 2 weeks I lost about 20 lbs, and the next 2 weeks just about 7lbs.
We MGBers should start posting our weight loss weekly on this site?
It will be interesting to know how everyone else is doing.

I take a Maxalt for my Migraines. I actually had to take 2 doses during my 3 day hospital stay after being sleeved earlier this month.
I also have degenerative disc disease, so yeah I'm pretty worried about not being able to take my Advil, but so far so good. I tend to take a half dose of vicodeine instead of 3 to 4 Advils when I start feeling the pain.
Tylenol is worthless, unless it's for a fever. Might as well be sugar pills.
