  1. Someone mentioned in one of the June sleevers thread that they would like to see a master list of everyone who was sleeved in June. I'm bored, so I decided to tackle that project. Please let me know if you need to be added to the list, removed from the list, or if your date is wrong. I've based this info off of only a few threads and I'm sure it's incomplete. I'll update the information as needed. My hope is that this will make it easier to connect with your sleeve brothers and sleeve sisters to compare progress, make new friends, and swap recipes, gripes, and successes. ***JEWELS OF JUNE*** JUNE 1 nraeh prairiedawn soon to be skinny kwikwits Good Goose DaniellaRN biglittleb JUNE 2 SCW2011 JUNE 3 JUNE 4 JUNE 5 JUNE 6 GreginMI Day Dreamer mnbsleeve Neanie in Texas Always singing Valentina sleevetina Adri JUNE 7 Meandmylittledog mjs6172 LeslieT slimsinger Hubie JUNE 8 Yorkie Fan MsNewBooty pyt1908 JUNE 9 A New Me wannabskinee JUNE 10 Bevgonnadothis Crabadams72 Special K AnnSpeaks Brightstar JUNE 11 mina JUNE 12 JUNE 13 ejsmith TonyaG Hopeful24 Patti Sue JUNE 14 JackieOMonroe gonnagetthere FlawedMan MrsPositive MoreThanAPrettyFace JUNE 15 Aarik moongirl JUNE 16 anonynurse imawhodat JUNE 17 Jax JUNE 18 donniej Dannymac Alejandra1975 JUNE 19 JUNE 20 mac LissaD Lovely Lo VSGDestiny NewSkinnyChick30 Douceur72 kpbrighton mybutterflies JUNE 21 ASBgirl purplepeace79 jcollins510 Sylvia21967 SleeveGirl-TX JUNE 22 RebaC Cassie805 JUNE 23 Penpen kekerene Deerpark2010 juzmejnee JUNE 24 exoticheart JUNE 25 lyndynojo JUNE 26 JUNE 27 bleelawry shordee0751 Terry in Loxahatchee StephieLynn Jinjin JUNE 28 coffeetx JUNE 29 DivaDee84 JUNE 30 ChubbyBritneySpears Rainydayz
  2. Congratulations!!! Your starting weight was the same as mine, so I hope to do as well as you have!
  3. They gave me plenty of anti-nausea meds, I was just extra resistant to them.
  4. Oh my gosh, StephieLynn I'm sorry! I've been so caught up in feeling better that I forgot to write you back! Everything went really well with Dr. Ortiz. My surgery was great, no leaks during the leak test, the nurses are attentive, and the staff is very personable. You will stay in the clinic 24-48 hours (depending on what you'd like to do) and then they will have a shuttle take you to the hotel. You are given the cell phone number of one of the doctors in a folder with other information. I used it twice to call my doctor, and on one occasion he called me at my hotel to followup with me. The Marriott is very nice, room service is fast and inexpensive, or you can get meals for free in the restaurant. I never wanted much of anything except Water and popsicles from a corner store by the clinic (and twice I had a teensy bit of the hotel tomato soup and apple juice). My first night was really tough. I threw up the entire first night and day, but after that my nausea went away. My husband and I met 5 other people who had the sleeve surgery and all were doing very well. I think I was actually the patient with the toughest recovery. We met a woman from Portland who was sleeved the same day I was. She had a really good time in Mexico. She was able to eat chicken broth and had very little trouble with gas pain. The only negative mark I would give the experience is all of the waiting that you do at the clinic while you're getting your drainage bandages changed each day. Overall, I would have to give OCC an emphatic thumbs up. It was just great.
  5. I got my labs back. Just a UTI. 6 days of antibiotics, lots of fluids, follow-up urinalysis to clear me. Thanks guys!
  6. I was sleeved on Tuesday and other than the first night, my experience has been pretty typical. I started drinkable yogurt and even a little tomato Soup today and things have been pretty good. My stomach spasms a bit when I sip on Water (strangely, the yogurt went down much more easily), so I just slow down or stop until things settle and resume sipping. I've been feeling pretty much like things would be normal from here on out, but then I had to pee. And then there was the blood. I thought that my urine seemed weird for the past couple of days, but it wasn't bloody so I dismissed it. As soon as I saw the blood, I called my doctor and informed him. He's having me come in for a urine test first thing in the morning. He says that it's probably an infection brought to the forefront by this sudden reduction in fluids. I really hope it's just a UTI. I've never had one before, but I'll take that over what I've read about kidney stones. Anyway, fingers crossed people!
  7. I've had them. They're... interesting. I would stick to using them only in asian-style dishes. They're just not good for anything else. The texture takes a bit of getting used to, but if that doesn't bother you then you'll probably dig them.
  8. My surgery is today too! Good luck to you. I got into TJ earlier this morning and I'm waiting now in my hospital room.
  9. i should not have read this thread the night before i get sleeved.
  10. Yay! Another sleeve buddy! I'm nervous too, but I'm hanging in there. Good luck! See you on the other side.
  11. Thank you! I have pre-op testing tomorrow at 9:30, but I don't know when my surgery is. I believe my surgeon has 5 surgeries scheduled for tomorrow. I'm not sure which order we go in. Congrats on hanging in there during the pre-op diet. I allowed myself to say goodbye to a few of my favorite carb-filled foods on Saturday, but other than that I followed the diet plan. Not so easy all the time. haha
  12. I hate to say it, but this is one of my biggest fears. I worry so much that my nasolabial folds will deepen and i'll have wrinkles that stand out more. I'll be 31 on Wednesday and I haven't even gotten used to being 30 yet! I really enjoy having a youthful face and it freaks me out to think that people will stop carding me. I just keep telling myself that I'd rather be thinner than look younger, but truthfully I want both. Oh well, I guess that's the way it goes!
  13. I'm getting sleeved on Tuesday too. I'm freaking out so much that I'm running through my supply of Xanax. So far I've lost 7 lbs on my pre-op diet and my BMI is between 33 and 34. Would you mind if I checked in with you time to time to compare progress? I could use a sleeve buddy.
  14. I've only had fruit punch and berry/pomegranate. Fruit punch is the only one I like so far.
  15. LOL! I just posted a status update about this very thing. Should have looked to the left and posted here instead!
  16. I really think someone should put together a glossary. I'd be happy to do it, but I'm too new to know enough of the acronyms and what they mean.
  17. You think it's hard vacationing in San Diego on a liquid diet? Try living here! I've lived here since I was in high school. I know every single great place to eat and I can't go to any of them. I just keep telling myself that it's worth it. haha
  18. I didn't know that one either. Also, what's NUT? Every single time I see it in a post, I think of a crazy person and it makes me giggle. Is it a nutritionist or something?
  19. Yes! I have so much trouble remembering to enjoy the present.
  20. This reminds me of my weight loss on Optifast and HMR. When I did those VLC diets, my weight loss looked approximately like this: Week 1: - 10 lbs Week 2: - 2 lbs Week 3: - 1 lbs Week 4: - 5 lbs Week 5: - 2 lbs Week 6: - 2 lbs Week 7: - 0 lbs Week 8: - 4 lbs Week 9: - 1 lbs See what I'm getting at? My weight loss was all over the place even though I was doing everything right. I would change NOTHING. I ate only what I was supposed to eat, counted every calorie burned at the gym, kept a weekly food and exercise diary, etc. It made no sense to me! I felt like my body was betraying me! The bottom line was that my body was going to do what it felt like doing. All that I could do was help it out in every way I could. I would lose the weight, but I couldn't force it to happen on my schedule. Weight loss is not an exact science. Since we all know that weight loss is based mainly on calories in-calories out and can be approximated, I think that we all try to break this down into a mathematic formula that will tell us exactly where we should be, right down to the exact day we should be there. As you've discovered by now, weekly weight loss is predicted about as accurately as a meteorologist predicts the weather. Try to see each ounce lost as another sunny day. You may have cloudy days where zero pounds are lost and you may even have rainy days where you've gained a little. Just remember, keep your sights set on those sunny days. SUMMER. IS. COMING.
  21. Even if you don't get a surgery date tomorrow, you should still be so happy about what you've accomplished. You stopped smoking, you quit drinking soda, and you're losing weight. Good luck to you!
  22. I'm already being treated for depression. I've been on medication since January and I've been on leave from work since then as well because my depression was too severe to allow me to function. I've finally gotten a grasp on my illness and I do not relish the thought of WLS causing me to get to that place again. I hope that through continued counseling and medication a relapse will be prevented. Maybe I should look into some food addicts meetings...
