My niece threads and it HURTS. Especially around the mouth. I never noticed it lasting longer though.

June Surgery anyone?
As I get closer to my June 9th date my emotions change from day to day...even hour to hour. It feel very unreal for me at this point and maybe that is why there is no fear at all about having some guy who I only met once or twice cut out a large part of my stomach. I think that is a little of it. But mostly I feel like I have educated myself by reading and talking to others who are on the other side of the process that I feel like I know what to really expect and, for the most part, how to deal with any issues that come up. However, being self pay and having 4 kids and a limited income, I have been dealing with guilt over getting myself into more debt to pay for this surgery. On one hand this feel very selfish but on the other, I know it will improve my health and that will benefit everyone in my family. Hurry up June 9th.

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
Well, I had heard that the doctor was pretty strict about his orders and I was ordered to lose 15-20 pounds. I had visions of his canceling my surgery because I didn't lose enough and I just don't think I could handle that. The 500 calories a day did not bother me at all. I felt very satisfied on that amount as long as it was Protein. However, I have been doing low carb now for 3 days and yesterday, I mowed the grass and had to take a nap because I have NO energy. I lost 3 more pounds as of this morning but I forgot about the lack of energy that I experience before with Atkins. I plan to add a piece of whole wheat toast to my eggs today. I read a few people who would add healthy carbs in the morning felt much better. So the scale is moving again after almost 2 weeks of stalls and I can breath easier. I am down 9 pounds so I only have 6 more to go in 2 weeks. Thanks for the comments. Now I am going to change my ticker :001_smile:

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
I went in wanting the band too but after talking to Sandy (whom I think is awesome) I changed my mind. I hear a lot of people talk about Doc D's poor bedside manner but I found him to be very nice. He held my hand at one point while we discussed how I was nervous about taking care of my kids after surgery. He has such a great reputation as a doctor though and totally trust him. I was very pleased by the office staff. SO friendly and Trevor was great. Are you drinking those shakes he sells in the office? I bought a box of assorted and don't think I will use them. If you would like them, let me know. The only concern I have is the cost. I am self pay and I took out a line of credit for this. I want to pay this back myself and not take any money from my husband. More of a pride thing I think. But I am a Real Estate agent and only in the business for less than a year and my client base is not large yet. I only get a pay check when I sell a home and I don't see one coming for at least 60 days, maybe more... But the bills never stop do they? My husband just went perminate with his job and will be getting insurance, Blue Cross, but If I could get them to okay the surgery I am sure there would be at least a 3 month wait and more than likely longer. I want this done yesterday! I am having surgery June 9th. I will keep the room clean for you since you are next. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing and I will do the same for you.

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
Protein shakes make a world of difference. I had a little problem in the beginning because I could not stand the taste of the one I got from the doctors office. I tried the already made one you get in the store. I think they are EAS or something like that and I like them, however I kept reading people talk about Isopure and got some from GNC. Wow. 50 grams of protein in 2 scoops! But then I got this idea to mix one scoop with one of the ready made shakes instead of Water. Even better. I actually really love it and I stay full for hours. Also, once I got the sugar out of my system and cut back the carbs, I lost most of my hunger. Plus I try to drink water constantly. The upcoming surgery is a huge motivation. I will say that the mental hunger is still there sometimes. I find myself wanting to reach for something or even daydreaming about something bad for me. I have had to talk myself down often, and I am not always successful. The other night we went to Red Robin. I LOVE their mushroom burgers and decided I was going to get one no matter what. Well, when it came time to order, I asked for a salad instead...and was satisfied when I finished. I did have a few little bites of my sons minus the buns though.

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
That is what I am doing but I feel so wrong eating some of the things I am getting. I wonder too if my calorie intake was not too low. It was usually between 500-800. I did low carb before with great results so I am hoping.

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
Doc Davidson out of Presby. Going to have surgery at Forest Park. I am just off of 66 in Rowlett but when the 190 gets done, it will be so fast to get anywhere. Only another year of it. It is actually being built right in front of my house. Let's see if we can get something going soon. Are there others in are area that you know of?

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
Never mind, I see you went to Dr. Nick. He is supposed to be great. BTW, you live pretty close to me. I have a home in the 75044 (my in laws lease it) and a home in Rowlett and work at Firewheel mall for Re/Max Town Centre. I was thinking about starting a little support group in that general area in the future. Let me know what you think.

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
I am thinking about just doing Atkins for the last 2 weeks. The last time I did that, I dropped a lot of weight quickly though I know it was mostly water weight. My surgeon only requires one day of liquids only so I could work in the Atkins easily. I don't really remember what I age on it though.

Starting to worry about losing weight pre-op
I have been working at it for 2 weeks + now and have been stuck at 7 pounds for at least a week of it. I am not sure why but I am getting a little worried that I wont be able to lose the other 8 I need to before surgery on the 9th of June. I have 1 to 2 Protein shakes a day and 1 to 2 healthy meals. I had to stop drinking crystal light because it made my throat so raw that I have still not gotten my voice back. My calorie intake is 800 or below. What the heck am I doing wrong? The only thing that I can see needs improvement is adding a little more exercise I have 16 days left...

surgery date!
Are you having it done in Forest Park? Please update because mine is on the 9th at Forest Park and I would love to know your experience with the place. Enjoy the rain and congrats.

Howdy everyone!
Hi Lori. I too am a Garlandite but recently moved to Rowlett. But that is pretty much still Garland. I am having surgery with doc Davidson on June 9th at Forest Park. I wish you the best of luck and extend the offer to get together if you ever need the support, or just want to get to know someone else who is going through the same thing. That applies to anyone in out area.

The Last Day!
I don't have a pre-op diet. I was told just one day before but I have started working on losing 15 pounds of pre-surgery weight I need to lose first and to try out different protein shakes. I told my hubby last night that he is taking me out for one last meal and I am thinking it will be Chicken Fried Steak from Babes Chicken. All the veggies are cooked like true Southern food is, in grease! It is the worst possible choice as far as healthy food goes but I don't care...at least not for the one night.

Frustrated....what happened to my support???
My was supportive, it was even his idea. He was telling me how we would pay off the van and then I could use that money to pay monthly payments for the surgery. Now, it has turned into, how are you (meaning me) going to pay for it? I am not sure how he went from one way to another but that is not changing my mine. You know how I am going to pay for it? I got a loan for it through Creditcare and BOTH of us will be making the payments. I figure 16 years of staying home to raise the kids while he works on his career and education is worth $300 a month from him. I know when it comes time to have the surgery, he will be by my side. He just worries about me and money. I am sure that is the case for your hubby too. Don't let any negativity from him deter you though. I am new to this forum too but the support is awesome. Use us.

June Surgery anyone?
You know, I was looking through posts last night I came across one about NSV (non scale victories). I read page after page of things that people can now do or wear and the more I read, the more excited I got. I feel like I won the lottery and am just waiting to pick up my check. Never thought I would be excited about someone cutting 85% of my stomach out. Come on June 30th.

Why am I feeling SO anxious?!
I went though the same thing. I too am self pay and walked out with all my questions answered and a date. I was still anxious though. I remember not being able to stop smiling all the way home.

Dr. Aceves patient's...HELP!
Reading this post all the way through was rather like a book and I was cheering you on all the way. When I finally got to the post where you had the surgery, I was crying and clapping for you. I am so happy for you and bless you.
