I can understand. Meeting the right person isn't easy from either side of the aisle.

Hey now... don't think all Florida guys are that way! Some of us are tall and like tall women

Men: Telling "the Guys" About Your Surgery

Your friends sound a lot like my friends, and I struggled with whether or not to tell them I finally did while playing poker one night, about 2 weeks before the date. One of them said "What... you mean you're not pregnant?", another said "Well it's about time, you fat %$#*" - he can say that because even at 465 lbs, he was heavier than me, and another guy said something about being pissed, because he had me in the "dead pool" and was sure he was going to win, so I said something about sex with his sister and we all laughed. In the end, all of my friends have been supportive and helpful along the way. To a man they are all proud of me for taking this step, and the guy that was bigger than me is scheduled for surgery in November. In retrospect, I'm very glad I told them, because I would hate for something to have happened to me while I was being operated on, and them to have to hear from someone else. i say tell them and just be prepared to give as good as you get.
  5. My calculation:Weight lost / (Starting Weight - Goal Weight) So for me: 209 / (465-220) = ~85% So per your profile For you: 103 / (367-200) = 61.68%
  6. Right at 85% right now. Hope to get another 30-35 off.

    NSV shout outs

I had a similar experience at a college football game this past weekend. Saw a guy in the stands I used to tailgate with, so I went and spoke to him. He had no idea who I was. Last time I saw him a couple years back I was 200+ lbs heavier. He was shocked. I felt good

    Weight Loss

As long as you're mindful of what you're taking into your body, and focus on protein first, you'll be shocked at how fast the weight comes off of us big guys.

    Weight Loss

I would imagine your loss rate would depend on how far you have to go, as well as how you stick to your diet and what exercise you do.. That said, Don't know if my situation is the norm, but I lost about 175 lbs in the first 6 months with minimal exercise, and I had about 240 to lose.

    Tall Sleevers? 6'?

Not a tall gal, but a tall guy at 6'4"... I have to say, being tall is great, and god bless all the tall ladies here . MIght take a wee bit longer for the loss to show, but tall people tend to lose faster, from what I've read. So congrats ladies and gentlemen, and keep up the good work!

    Sex... Oh My God... Sex!

I have to agree with every thing the OP has said. I'm down over 200 lbs and the differences are monumental. Everything from desire to endurance to "control" to ... ahem... size... it's absolutely amazing the difference. Makes me sad to think of what I missed out on for so many years, but ecstatic to taste what the future holds.

    Morning Wood

    Best answer possible. Nice.
  18. I actually go to two... 1 at Memorial and 1 at St. Vincent's (formerly St. Lukes). I was sleeved with Novus right before they broke up, and my nutritionist went to St. Vincent's, my surgeon and a couple of the Novus employees went to Memorial. I like them both and both are open to anyone who wants to attend, regardless of where you had your surgery. St. Vincents is the first Monday of every month and Memorial is the 2nd Monday.

Sounds like you're in a much better place now, and that's what I'm looking forward to. Growing up I was extremely athletic, and played baseball, tennis, racquetball, swam on a swim team, wrestled and played football. The last 15 or 20 years I gave all that up inch by inch, pound by pound and I'm just not willing to do that anymore. I'm committed to getting back to that life, and if it means being alone till I can find the perfect fit, well that's just what it means. BTW, you do have impressive abs

Happy 8 to you as well! You look fantastic, and more importantly you look happy! I'm glad to see you're doing so well. I'm still drinking 1, at least 1, Protein shake per day as well, and I think I will for the foreseeable future. It's a great way to get protein and it's a good quick Breakfast for me. For exercise I would love to play tennis, but my knees, well one of them for sure, are still pretty mad at me for the abuse of the last 15 years. That's all rounding into shape though. I hope to hit 200 lbs off within the next few weeks. With the exception of the knee, I couldn't be more happy with where I am now. I've been to concerts, sporting events, the beach, played rounds of golf... all stuff I couldn't do, or at least could barely manage before. It's a great new world out here . So what beach were you at in February?

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

Exactly. My lament used to be "I wish people would focus on my dolphin-like personality rather than my whale-like physique".

Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

At one point I had the same mindset. But when I step back and take a look objectively, it's not just about what a person looks like, it's what they can do. I, for example, had pretty much turned myself into a prisoner. At 465 lbs I couldn't go to concerts because I didn't fit the seats. I couldn't go to sporting events because it was too painful to walk from the parking lot to the venue, and if I did make it, I was sweating so that I would soak through anything I wore. Now that I am slimmer and on my way to being fit, I do not want to spend my time with someone that was in the same place I was... I would much rather focus on someone that can help me continue my journey to being physically fit and living my life the way I should have been for the last 20 years. Maybe it's selfish, but I know where I was and what I couldn't do... Now that I can, I want someone that can live life with me.
