    Golf?

No, nothing that grand. Just an 18-hole with cart for a charity. I'm a bit worried about hurting myself, but I hate not to play since I committed to it. I guess the best thing to do is ask my surgeon what he thinks.

    Cardiologist?

I have the same question... I was finally able to get mine scheduled for this Friday, and they told me to prepare for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. What could possibly take that long?

    Newbie

Sweet - Another future sleever from Jax! I'd love to give you input, but I'm playing the waiting game right now. Looking forward to getting everything moving... but sadly, I haven't seen 307 in 10+ years... you're a lightweight Who's doing your surgery?

    12 things...

I love this idea... I actually made a list with 10 of them in a "pros and cons" list when I first started considering surgery. 1. Be able to attend sporting events and concerts and actually fit in the seat 2. Be able to fly without having to ask for a seat belt extender and trying to sweet talk the attendant into finding a row for me with an empty seat beside me. 3. Buying clothes from a store that does not have "Big and tall" somewhere in the title. 4. Able to walk more than a few dozen yards without my back, legs or lungs giving out. 5. Ditching my CPAP machine after 13 years. 6. Crossing my legs. 7. Not flop-sweating after the smallest of exertions. 8. Running a triathlon, even if only a short one. 9. Ability to care for my elderly parents if they need me. 10. Having someone notice me not for my whale-like physique, but for my dolphin-like personality. 11. Able to participate in sporting activities such as golf, softball, hiking, fishing, etc. 12. Eliminating the word "Can't" from my vocabulary.
  5. Having trouble getting a stress test scheduled. Had all the prelims (psych, nut, class) appts handled in May, but since then I've had to wait 2 weeks to see my surgeon because he was on vacation, then another 2 weeks to see my pcp because he was on vacation the entire month of June, and now I'm having to wait at least another week for a stress test. I know this seems like a short time to those of you that have had to be on the 6 month plan, but as a self pay, when I finally made the decision, I honestly expected to be sleeved a month ago. I guess I should have tempered my expectations, but all of my eval people were saying it should be less than 1 month. Anyway, just venting. Thanks for listening
  6. Did you do the low-carb / high-protein diet prior to your attempted surgery? Just curious why your liver was so big...

How long did you wait to have sex

In my case, it will be at least till I can convince some female to say yes
  8. Hi - I'm a newbie looking at getting sleeved hopefully the first of August. My question is how long will I need someone to stay with me? I'm a single guy that lives alone and really don't want to inconvenience any of my friends or family longer than I have to. I'm really uncomfortable with having people do things for me, so hope fully the answer is no more than a couple days?
  9. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm thinking pain won't be a big deal, as I'm very familiar with it because of recurring diverticulitis and kidney stones, but the lack of energy may hit me. Hopefully it won't be an issue... I plan on going back to work from 5-7 days after surgery.

    Self Pay for VSG

Mine will end up being just under $15k in Jacksonville, Fl with Dr. Steven Webb.
  11. Wow! EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to do this.
  12. I have a couple... I don't have a date yet, but I anticipate late July/Early August. I've started a low-carb/high protein diet in anticipation and tried broth for the first time a couple days back. YUCK! My question: is there any issue with adding spices or seasonings, or things like hot sauce or worchestershire sauce? Just looking for a little flavor!
  13. @Wishes - Thanks for your reply, and you make a really good point about changing rather than abandoning the relationship. No reason I can't still love smaller portions and better choices, right? Also Good to know I'm not the only soon to be Webb-erized sleever! I had 4 local docs all recommend Dr. Webb, and he seems like a pretty straight forward guy to me, so I feel good about having him as the dude. I guess I can let you know in a few weeks! @thinoneday - i know what you mean... I used to be a heavy lifter... still am I guess, just now the heavy lifting is my body weight, hahaha. Anyway, I have no desire to get back as strong as I used to be, I'd love to spend some time lean though! @medmgr - I'm currently struggling with whether to tell people about the surgery. Obviously my family all know, if for no other reason than there's always a risk with surgery and I'd hate to go out without letting them know about it. But friends and such... is it really their concern? To everyone else, I really appreciate your input... nice to know there's a place to come and discuss this stuff.
  14. Thanks for the support! I read through what I posted last night and sheesh, I sure did come across as whiney! I'm honestly very excited about having this done and the prospects that lay ahead for me. I've had my weight steal from me most all the things I have loved to do, so I imagine that's why I'm clinging to the food and happy hours. I'm a serious MBA (man by the acre) right now - 6'4, 455 lbs - so getting around is tough on the knees and back. But I anticipate being able to start going back to concerts, sporting events, hikes... heck, just going! Should be a great ride
