My pcp sent the referral for WLS, scheduled me to start my 6 months of supervised weight loss and my 3 PT appts. I just received my letter from the insurance company (based off my physician's referral) that I was denied because I had not completed my 6 months of "supervised" weight loss...She told me it would happen (thats just how WHA) works...So...now I need to finish my 6 months (only 5 now) and re-submit the refferal...not sure why they do things this way.. -

I am completed my first month of "supervised" weight loss, 5 more to go! I have finished my 1st of 3 physical therapy appointments (next one scheduled 8/7]. I just got my denial letter today...My doctor told me that I would more than likely get denied first and not to worry, but actually seeing the letter in my hand kinda got me a bit depressed...All these hoops! -
I saw from one of your other posts that you have Western Health Advantage; I do too. I just started this process and Im courious about the approval process? Who was your surgeon? I am looking in to having Laura Machado do my surgery.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me just this past Wednesday at my first bariatric group meeting. Im 5'7" and weigh 234...The MA said, "wow you are tiny.." I was like, "seriously, youve got to be kidding??" I realize I was the smallest of everyone there, but still like you...IM 100lbs OVERWEIGHT! -
I just started the WLS journey and have completed my 1st of 6 bariatric groups. I originally wanted the lap band, but the VSG is starting to look like the right choice. Any one else out there just starting the approval process?
