Blood work?
Hello Guys Today I completed my bloodwork for surgery. Only one more nut visit left! While chating with the nurse, I began to wonder what exactly does Aetna (my insurance co) want with my bloodwork?! Is there any thing they are looking for that could disqualify me for surgery?

What a Difference a Year Makes - Reflections on my One Year Anniversary
WOW Brian, great job. I too struggled with taking the "easy" way out. But like you said there is nothing easy about it. We have to restructure our entire lives and the ball is still in our court regarding excercise and food choices. I say if the technology to assist us in the journey is there than take it! You wouldn't write a letter when you have the option of a cell phone, VSG is just a technology to help in your life.

I can't win on this : (
I guess being fat for so long, I just find the kids comments funny. One thing about most big people is they learn not to take things to seriously. My son once told me I couldnt sit in the back seat with him because I would break the car! I had to have a big laugh. I just make a mental note of this stuff so it will be all the more sweet when I lose it all and kick his butt in some basketball when he is older.

Mental Block?
. Unfortunately, the surgery operates on our stomachs, not our minds. Excellent point! That's what I was thinking and that frame of mind seems extremely dangerous. I know what its like to be the fat guy. Staying quiet in the back of the room so as to not bring attention and potential riducule on yourself, but at this point, im thinking he has to start enjoying life some.

My First Cry
Speaking as a guy, I can honestly say some of the women who appeal mostly to me have been larger women. And even after my surgery I want some meat on the bones. You shouldnt get down on this dude. Real guys are out there

Mental Block?
Hi Guys A friend of mine from my WLS support group and myself got to talking about his sleeve. He made an interesting comment to me. Now this guy looks great, he lost 112 lbs and you could never tell by looking that he was ever a big guy. But he told me that he still feels like the fattest guy in the room. He said he doesnt talk to women and when they talk to him he feels like they are just making fun of him. He still wears his old huge shirts and says that he has all his "fat" clothes still in his closet. Is this a typical problem for WLS patients or does he need some counseling? I would be jumping for joy and running around in Milli Vanilli shorts if I were thin. (just dated myself) Please chime in

I'm "normal"
Ive heard BMI charts haven't been revised since they were created.....a long time ago and people have gotten taller and yes heavier. But I bet it does feel great to see your weight fall in that "normal" range. I hate seeing Morbidly obese, it sounds so ominous.

Satisfied?
Wow! So much great information and just what I needed to know. Thanks guys! Chef Neil, we might be long lost food brothers . Rootman your info was great super informitive and your pre sleeve appetites mirror those of my own. Gregin, thanks thats why I decided to go with sleeve too! My biggest issue is the portion control. Thanks everyone

Your New Food Motto
It's not about saying "No" all the time, it is about NOT saying "Yes" all the time.

Satisfied?
Ok, here is my question. I am a guy with a big appetite and sometimes I know im full but I'll keep chowing down some more. I know this is the head hunger that I have to work on, but after the sleeve will my STOMACH tell me it's full? Will I feel physically satiated? My biggest problem is portion control and im just scared that after the sleeve I will still feel that intense hunger you feel when your dieting. I just wanna be full with small portions!
