  1. I am shocked at how hast its coming off, I am kinda scared that when I get off the full liquid that it will slow down.

Yes it is hard to get in Water and Protein, i worry about the Protein but the Water i'm ok with. I hope that I will be on mushy food after my follow up tomorrow and I can get in more protein that way.

You are doing great WOW! I had my surgery on the 2nd and only lost 8 lbs. so far, which is getting a little depressing. I am trying to get my 64 oz. of water in and protein but is very hard. Hopefully it will pick up. I am probably getting in 5 gasses a day and maybe 50 grams of protein. Am also walking with the WII about 10 minutes. Has anyone else had this slow weight loss?

  2. I'm sorry that you are still having pain. I am in love with the yoplait desert flavor's they make my day. I think my issue with getting in the Protein is that I am supposed to do 3oz every 3 hrs. if I could just drink a shake til i get it done i would do better.......idk. Its a learning process for us and will will make it.

I have to get 64 oz of Fluid so my Protein counts toward it. I have been getting to 64 oz since day 3, I have been able to get in one shake for the last 3 days, it sits heavy with me. Yesterday I did half a shake and half a greek yogurt (I can have yogurt right now - no fruit in it). That was my first yogurt and it was nice to have something different. I dreamt last night that I was at a party and stuffed myself, ate the whole time. I was so freaked out and sad, Glad to wake up from that! I got the ok to take chewable tylenol yesterday because I couldn't stand the liquid. They also gave me vicodin which I took one before bed - maybe that brought on my dream? I don't know if it made sleep any better.

  3. your doing great! so good to hear good news! im so excited for us!

My surgery was 8/11. I came home late on 8/12. I walked up to the scale in the hospital and got a weight of 409 (down from 420 the day before surgery). I won't have access to a scale again until probably tomorrow.

I think I took my last pain medicine at noon today, but we'll see. I went out for the first time today and walked. I've mostly been taking it relatively easy and focusing on getting the 60 grams of Protein plus 64 ounces of liquid my doctor has mandated. I'm not missing food, and I'm tolerating things well. I'm eating various combinations of Boost Glucose Control, Carnation Breakfast Essentials plus Protein powder, and unjury chicken Flavor. I think I messed up calculations and didn't get the 60 grams of protein in yesterday, but I got it in today.

I go to mushies at a two week follow-up. I'm sure I'll welcome the variety, but I think I can do this no sweat until then. I haven't felt hungry, and I have rarely felt more than a little sore.

  4. Hey everyone, how is everyone doing?

Time is moving fast, 8/15 is 2 weeks, i can't believe how quick it has come and the difference.

I am down 20 lbs, this is just so exciting to me. I have not been under 300lbs for some years now and I am 6 lbs away!

I am ready to be off the full liquid, I still have my need to chew!

I am having a hard time getting in more than 13oz of Protein a day. I can drink crystal light, ice tea or Water all day but i have little desire to take in the allowed items.

My follow up is on 8/16 maybe they can give me some pointers on the Protein.< /p>

So that's all with me, whats going on with the rest of the all stars!?

  5. Good to see us coming out the wood work. How is everyone doing?

I was sleeved on 8/1. No complicatons, 1st two days were hard for me, uncomfortable but nothing like a c section (i didn't have any issues w that either).

I'm doing well down 19lbs, I haven't been under 300lbs in so long, its getting close 7more lbs!

    I look forward to updates

  6. I was sleeved on 8/1/11 so i have just started on my journey and I had the same concerns as you.

I feel better already, i am not achy when walking, my blood pressure is comming down ( this i know because when i take my meds my pressure drops)

    and I have more energy.

I am praying that the skin isn't too bad. I have thick hair so i can take a bit of loss cause I know it will grow back.

I am also lactose intolerant, I drink sugar free carnation instant Breakfast for Protein, i have some of the pre made ones when im on the go and the powder i mix with silk milk (its a soy milk and I truly like the taste)

    Hi all

I'm new to the site, and nervous about my procedure scheduled for 9 Aug. I'm interested in all the stories (good and bad) so I have an idea of what to expect.

I'm UK based so some things I say about the process we follow may differ to US, but its nice to be part of a support system outside of the ones provided on my programme.

I've been on this journey for a year which started because of breathing issues. The Dr's can't figure out the cause even after extensive testing so suggested (quite strongly) that it must be weight related.

I've agonised over the decision to have surgery as I really love my curves!!!! but my quality of life is so much more important to me.

    I'm concerned about

    Lose skin

    Hair loss

Finding a good Protein shake..... I'm lactose intolerant

Any advice is welcome and I need creative ideas on how to get the Protein in, in the early stages.

    Current weight 111kg (244lb)

  7. 10lbs great! You had your surgery on 8/1 as well?

I have yet to get on a scale but now i am wondering how much I have lost

On Friday it was the fourth day of my liquid diet. I went to the hospital to get all my labs done and to weigh in. I got on the scale(fun...not) lol and to my surprise I dropped 10 pounds since Tues. . I was like damn! So far has not been to hard and once you see the results it makes it so much easier to go through. So don't ever say "I can't" or else you will never get started and see what can happen!

    Respectfully,

    Joe

  8. Amen!

For All you single ladies who are in such a hurry to get married, here's a quick piece of Biblical advice: Ruth patiently waited for her mate Boaz.

  9. OMG we had the same week! I came home Tuesday and dinner smelled like death. Last night I was so tempted to try a pinch of chicken or potatoes. My 4 yr old notices mommy isn't eating what everyone else is eating so he feels the need to try everything I eat, I'm like baby mommy gets 3 oz and your trying 1 of those oz your killing me!

Then today I drove my parents around shopping and they decide to get my baby a treat for being a big boy.....this was fries and shakes at mc donalds.......grrrrrrrr is all i could think smelling the fries as i sipped on my crystal light. glad to see I am not the only one with these feelings!

Hey ya'll. Hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to share some observations/ experiences from my first week post-op. I came home last Saturday and was determined to meet all the requests of my Dr., bad idea. I tried to get in all my Protein and liquids - thats 48 oz of liquids which include the liquid I use to make my Protein Shakes and 90 to 100 grams of Protein. That's four or five, count em' 1,2,3,4 or 5 protein shakes. I made myself sick on day 2 and ended up throwing up almost a whole protein shake!! Do you have any idea how mad I was!!! It was enough to make a preacher cuss! SO lesson one- it is better to get in 75 grams of your protein without vomiting than to force that last cup of protein down and end up losing it all! I have been able to work up to this as the week has progressed but it has been a chore.

On day three, my husband and I went to visit my mother-in-law ( who is just precious to me) for her birthday. Of course we stayed later than we planned and it was dinner time. My sister-in-law came over and cooked dinner for everyone. She made spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. For some strange reason it smelled awful to me. I know it wasn't awful, but it almost made me sick to smell it cooking!! Once it was made and everyone was sitting around with their plates, I thought that looks soooo goood!! I wasn't hungry, but I didn't quite know what to do with myself while everyone around me ate. It was a real challenge!!!! Lesson number two: plan for those times when everyone around you will be eating and drinking and having a good old time while you choke down protein. It will happen.

Today i went with my mother aka "Paula Deen" and my youngest son to the aquarium. I was having a hard time getting my protein down this morning so I drank a premixed muscle milk for the first time for convenience sake and got it down pretty easy. Well, fast forward one building of the aquarium and the nature trail walk that leads to the next building and I find myself needing to get to a bath room (if you know what I mean) NOW!! I take care of business and think I'm on my way when we round the next corner on our way to the shark tank when BAM!!!!! it hits me again. I sprinted out and back to the little girls room for round two!! I don't know what caused this but......lesson number three: don't try a new protein drink when your going out for the day- it can be BAD...REAL BAD!

We left the aquarium and of course the normal people with me need to eat. My mother loves "Bakers Crust" so off we go for a late lunch. Now you must know this about my mother, she LOVES food... probably more than me. She sits there and starts to read the details of the menu to me... OMG torture me!!! I finally look up and say "mother, would you mind reading that to your self maybe this time?" She says she's sorry that she forgot that I can't eat yet. REALLY MOM.. you forgot that a week ago today I finally went to a Dr. and had him cut out most of my stomach so I couldn't continue to kill my self with a fork!!! Of course I said "it's ok mother". lesson number four... If you have a mother, friend, cousin, etc. that loves food, It may be wise to limit your time with them while in the liquid phase of your diet!!!

  10. hey ya'll got a question and it contains some tmi....sorry! days 1-4 it was most uncomfortable to drink, last night i had my 1st bm since being sleeved, it was such a relief!

today i have been drinking on some crystal light lemonade, I guess the taste is better than Water to me cause I notice I am taking in more and i have not been sipping.

anyone know if this is ok or are you supposed to sip always?

  11. good to see your update! Today has been a good day for me as well. Hard to believe surgery was monday morning!

    Hi Everyone!

I had my sleeve on Monday and so far all is going good. I was released from the hospital on Tuesday after passing a swallow test and taking/keeping fluids down.

The first night i was home, i got in the bed for about 3 hours. I decided i did not like it as much as i thought i would and moved to the couch. I felt much better on the couch and it was very easy to get up and down from here.

It is strange when you start drinking again. Sips are micro sips you will learn quickly - it is true, gas X stips are your best friend and as soon as you think you have this mastered, you get to day 3 and it ALL is just got so much better!

I'm not sure if swelling went down in my sleeve or if i did a bunch of walking (as was instructed) so that i helped relieve the swelling and stiffness of my stomach and abdomen -- I really do not know why, but today is "rounding the bend"! :D

Today has been just great! Don't get me wrong, i am on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks post op so my "greatness" is that i can move easily, shower with out a problem and curl up in my bed with no issues. I have been able to get a good portion of my liquids down today, but that is saying i am hydrated not that i have taking all the protien i need to.

So, i guess my take away is that i loved today after the last few days and i will hope that it just keeps getting better from here forward. I can honestly say, it was not that bad but it did have it's moment! LOL

I'll check back in again tomorrow and see i make the protien requirements! I am dreaming, but i am going to try tomorrow for the first time to make it happen with Isopure.

For those of you still waiting for your surgery, take your pain medication, get up and walk as often as you can and know that each day gets easier.

i will be happy to answer any questions about my experience as we go through this life change together.

    :P
