    Coffee -- Need some advice

Love my Keurig!!! And you may not have to always "sip, sip, sip"... I'm 4 weeks post op and as long as I'm 45 minutes past a meal, I can drink like I use to. True that!! I know not everyone is like that, but there is hope!!

    DEFECTIVE SLEEVE?????

I am the same way...no problems with any food or liquid that I've introduced yet at week 4. Of course, I'm also experiencing an 8 day stall... To be honest, I've read the same comments and had your exact thought! lol

    Vertigo

Even though you aren't on BP meds...I agree with Kelly...that's what it sounds like and you need to have your BP checked. You have described low BP symptoms. I'm sure they aren't exclusive to that...but it is what I experienced (especially going from a sit or squat to a stand...woooooooooo). Vertigo will effect you even in a horizontal position (i.e., in bed and you roll over and the whole room spins). Then you may have an inner ear infection.

    Eating Slowly

I agree with putting the utensil down and then I wait until my mouth is completely done and swallowed the food. Then sort of "trace" the food going down until it arrives in your tummy (in your head...not literally HAHAHA) unless you want to practice alone!! I have actually sat on my hand (eating hand)...just subtely slid it under the outside of my thigh and left my other hand on the table or in a natural pose. I don't want to look like I'm freaking out to whomever I'm with. lol
  7. I also took my meds whole...I took a sip of Water in my mouth, popped the pill, swallow. A sip to chase if necessary...but either way...drink as much after the pill to work it on down. I never took the acid reducer (what was the name of it? I just took the penicillan). I've never felt acidic... guess I'm luck!

    Should I be concerned?

I think you'll be fine. If it gets red, inflamed, and warm to the touch...get it looked at. For goodness sake, stop picking your scabs!! ewwwwww just kidding
  12. I think we all suffered the gas pain...I felt like I was giving birth to an alian through my chest...and I've had not one, but TWO eleven pound kids! I had that pain in my left shoulder too...walking was the only relief...UNTIL I had the drain removed. I've had a few moments since (left shoulder) but nothing like prior to the drain removal. I had experienced this with one of my C-sections and so I knew what the cause was... I pray it gets better. It's sort of catch 22...you want the gas moving, but movement of gas = discomfort!! Take your pain meds, take your gas meds...keep moving!!

    No Faux Pho For Me!

There is Pho-Bac on 7th 2 or 3 doors up from MLK...and on MLK (just next to the pawn shop on the corner...) There is Pho King (*be careful where you say THAT out loud!) lol They have Bahn-mi YUM I just read in the Tacoma News Tribune that a place at 7th/Yakima is Bahn-Mi heaven. I haven't been there, but I do love Bahn-Mi and plan on having one when I'm able (maybe half lol...maybe in 3 months!) HA

    No Faux Pho For Me!

Today was an anticipated treat for me as I headed off to the seedy part of town to meet my dad for lunch. Hilltop Tacoma…it’s pretty notorious. Probably not like going to Harlem for a tourist, but it’s not a place I want to hang after dark. It does however boast some of the BEST Pho restaurants around! For the uninitiated, Pho is Vietnamese Noodle Soup. A Bahn Mi (Bun-mee) is a Vietnamese sandwich with French roots. It’s like taste bud utopia! It’s not my first outing since being sleeved, but it (wait for it…break into the chorus with me…,) “It feels like the first time, (feels like the very first time).” Hahaha I have no idea where that came from, but I seem to have a song in my heart quite a bit these days. God is good, and I am in love with my sleeve! I ordered a small rare beef…and there is nothing small about Pho soup. Traditionally, a “Large” is something you could bathe a baby in and a “Small” is probably 3 cups of broth, 4-6 oz of thin sliced beef and about 1½ cups of rice noodles…along with all the garnishes; onions, cilantro, fresh basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos, and a slice of lime. A squirt of hoisen and a touch of sirachi and I am down for the count. I like it just spicy enough that my lips are on the verge of buzzing. Oh yeah, NOW we’re talkin’!! Anyway, as my mouth was watering and I was heady with the smell of anise and spice, it occurred to me that I was going to have to have a plan of attack. I needed a strategy. I’m not supposed to drink while eating…but, but…but it’s soup! You have to eat and drink at the same time. Dilemma!!! So here’s what I did: I gave my noodles to my dad (because who needs all those bland carbs anyway, they don’t add any flavor, just bulk…and I let the rare beef “cook” in the simmering broth. I added my condiments; got it just right, and then I slurped away! Oh My Word—I will never have faux Pho again. Diggidy-Dog, this is the stuff! Now, I’m not admitting to having faux Pho (i.e., instant Pho), because I just ain’t admitting it...But if I did, there would be no comparison. After getting through quite a bit of the broth, I decided to masticate (oh, I hope that doesn’t ruin your appetite lol) a piece of now cooked beef. Mmmm, MMMMM, MM! Then another. And all the taste buds screamed, “Ditto to what she said!” I thoroughly enjoyed myself and in no way did I feel like I did any injustice to that sublime bowl of goodness. There is no point to this blog, unless of course it’s just that what the rest of the world may call restriction, I’m calling freedom. This little sleeve of mine reminds me of what a good church is; it’s not about what I can’t or shouldn’t do, it’s about what I get to do! That’s my salty slice of the day. I hope y’all are living life like you only get one chance…with the blessing of having a second one! Thanks for listening! God bless, Susan
