If you could read the bubble over my head...
SeattleSue posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You know those little "thought bubbles"? If you couldn't read mine, you'd probably be wondering why I smile to myself a lot more these days. If you COULD read the bubble, it would say, "Wow...this is really happening. THIS TIME, I AM GOING TO DO IT!" Love my sleeve. -

Two words for ya.... SALT LICK Bahahahahahaa Sorry but I'm going with "laughing with you, not at you" on this one!! Hope it improves. I say salt, which is part of what Diva is surmizing with the sports drinks and electrolytes! It should do the trick...if it aint potassium, this would be my next step. -
Suffering from major Insomnia! Please Help!
SeattleSue replied to MsRobotRock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't know if it is the "answer" but when fasting...I always used to sleep poorly. I would ache, etc. So I think that there is definately a correlation. Obviously, when we used to eat a huge meal, we'd often want to take a nap! Also, we know that fat cells store hormones...hormones are linked to insomnia, particularly in peri or menopausal women. My remedy has been exercise. I am sleeping like a log...but I can't exercise after 6pm or I'm so pumped up my body just can't "come down". -
What is wrong with me??
SeattleSue replied to ASBgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ASBGirl, you are SO NOT ALONE! SKCUNNINGHAM...white carbs and sweets are my demise. I'm blessed that I don't have a sweet tooth, but if I "allow" myself a piece of chocolate (or even if it's unsanctioned popping-it-in-the-mouth without thinking) It makes me spiral! Quickly turning into "some more"... I'm 9+ weeks...and I totally want to make the most of the honeymoon too. I'm in a "stall" right now...at least, very little, fractional and far between losses. I'm really having to pay attention and I DO journal everything. Brutal honesty. lol On the flip side, my mind totally recognizes that at 800-1000 calories (depending on the day, time of month, activity level, etc), how can I NOT lose weight? SOoooooo, I'm trying to be reasonable and not over-analyze everything; keeping it simple. Keep doing the right thing and it will happen! -
What is wrong with me??
SeattleSue replied to ASBgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's a mental trap...it goes something like, "You've lost 50 lbs! You can have that dorito. It's just a single serving." I'm all for rewards but when you're an addict...it can't be food. I know we aren't all addicts, just like everyone who drinks isn't an alcoholic...but if we are a carb addict, we probably need to remove them or find complex carb substitutes. -
Ok...It's probably been covered before...beat to death maybe, but the question on my mind is: Do you eat part or all of your exercise calories? If yes to either part or all, what's your "formula"? If yes, what is your best "guesstimate" on the impact this has had, pro or con, on your weightloss journey. Thanks in advance!

2 weeks out..Im doing horrible!
SeattleSue replied to laladotdot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in my 9th week and only now can get anything close to 300 calories at a sitting and it's not something I would do frequently. That's an egg on toast with a slice of bacon! lol For the first month I was lucky to get 150 calories at a sitting unless it was a Protein shake. Seriously, you probably won't be able to eat a scrambled egg for another week or so. My instructions were to supplement with Protein shakes to make up the diff until you "eventually' reach the point where you can get your protein from eating (approx 700 cals a day for me). For the first 2-3 weeks it was ALL About the Water and the Proteins. It's a slow transition from supplements, to food/supplements, and finally to all food no shakes. -
1st trip to Costco ... what should i get?
SeattleSue replied to Sunny702's topic in Food and Nutrition
Not a clue. It's a staple for me... I have 5 different types of cheeses in my fridge. Mostly 2% or lower fat variety fine shreds.... But Laughing Cow Wedges and Baby Bel Lights; hope I never have to go without! Maybe no cheese in the earliest stages? I would double check. I've had soft cheese since week 3 when I was melting mozarella on Ricotta Bakes. -

2 months out and I am not losing ??????????
SeattleSue replied to tmela28's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
At 3 weeks post op, I went into a 2 1/2 - 3 week stall. I freaked, but found out by searching this site that it is completely normal. My favorite snacks: Hormel Turkey pepperoni slices (17 slices = 70 cals, 0 carbs, 9 gr protein) These travel real well in a little ziploc in my purse...ok with no refrigeration for the day! cheese stick (also keeps ok in my purse for a day) Snack packs of tuna or chicken salad (in the snack cans..no need to refrigerate) Kavli Crispy flatbreads (whole grain) and a laughing cow wedge Jerkey Mini Baby Bell Light Cheeses -

hurts to take a deep breathe?
SeattleSue replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know hon, mine came and went and ALWAYS when I would sit at a 90 degree. I seriously felt like I had a pinched nerve...but it clearly seemed to involve pain at or around my left side...right at the level of my surgery. Definately keep an eye on it...
