  1. Oh girl you are only taking a week off? Make susre you take the time you need to heal. I am in the same boat as far as getting my band out. My office said if I were going into the surgery for the sleeve with no band they recommend 4 weeks but doing a conversion from the band to the sleeve they recommend 6 weeks because of scar tissue and the surgery being more involved. Amy
  2. We have the same kind of extended illness bank thing. When is your surgery? Amy
  3. Well I had my medical leave forms filled out for 6 weeks off. I am getting my band out and getting sleeved on July 16tht . I usually don't take much time off with things but I think I am going to take the time to heal and get into my routine. Amy
  4. Hey All! I will be getting my band removed and sleeved on July 16th. I have only had my band for 10 months. I met with doc today and he wants me to take 6 weeks off work. I had only thought I needed 2. What was I thinking! Lol I am a nurse on a labor and delivery floor. What did you all do? How many weeks off? Amy Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. My doc told me today they recommend 4-6 weeks off. That seems really a long time. I am a nurse on a busy labor and delivery floor. I am not sure what I will take off. Amy Sent from my iPhone using VST

  10. I am not sleeved yet so I have lots of questions.. lol Are the spasms normal and does everyone experience these after surgery? Amy
  11. Littlebits thank you for listing some of the blogs to follow. I VERY much appreciate it!! If you could send me the links that would be very helpful. I am going ahead with the surgery and am meeting the doc tomorrow to get some questions answered and set up a date... I still would love to look at some of the blogs. I wish you the VERY BEST!! Amy
  12. Thanks for the replies!! Serene - your postive attitude is awesome! My husband and I want another baby as well. We have two great little boys but do want at least another. I do not want to get pregnant at the weight I am at. I am a labor and delivery nurse and I can see the problems that go along with obesity and pregnancy. The surgery still makes me nervous but I am praying about it. I am meeting with the doctor tomorrow to get things scheduled and for him to answer more questions I have. Girliegirl - I still have my band and have had it since Sept 2011. I TOTALLY understand what you are saying about long term problems. A few people I know are very much against me doing this surgery. They have mentioned where are the studies for long term? All those thoughts do cross my mind but I also think about if I continue at the weight I am at ( 250) then all the health issues that can come with that.. heart disease, diabetes..etc. Amy
  13. Well I have had my band since 9/24/11 - not even a year and it's coming out!! Last week I went into office to see about band removal. The thought of a sleeve had crossed my mind. I was told insurance denied just the band removal but has approved the band removal to sleeve revision. I don't quite understand that. They want to do surgery next Thursday!! I need to wait until mid July for a few reasons. I am excited but also very nervous. I knew when I got the band if I had problems it could just come out (so I thought), not so much with the sleeve . I'm 34 yrs old and need to get off about 100lbs. I have two kids and a great supportive hubby. I know he is worried about procedure. It's hard when you go through 1 WLS and it doesn't work out.... Then hope for another. My band had 11 cc in it with no restriction and had pain throughout the day when not eating.... Ugh Looking forward to getting to know you and hearing about your journey!! Amy

  15. I am not sleeved yet but I do like my diet coke so I was interested to hear about the pop I currently have a band that has caused nothing but trouble. It is completely unfilled and I am in the procces of going through all the insurance stuff.. Etc to have a conversion. Thanks for all the advice!! I am soaking up as much information as I can. Amy
  16. You said diet pop doesn't stretch your pouch? I thought with VSG no carbonation is allowed? Amy
  17. I am also pre-op. I had a doctors appt today and asked the doctor, " If a leak were to occur when does it usually happen?" He said usually within the first 4-6 weeks after surgery. I would be interested to hear what other doctors have told people. Amy
  18. I am guessing dilaudid..
  19. My question I have the Lapband now but am miserable. I have had it less than a year. I go to see my doctor about converting to the sleeve. After the band they send you home with roxicet which is like a liquid Percocet. It really helped with the pain. Did anyone get this for pain with the sleeve? Amy
