    Hello!

They haven't mentioned if I will be doing a liquid diet I'm pretty sure not as all my instructions say to follow the pre op diet right up until surgery day. I am currently following the pre-op diet which consists of 3 meals, no Snacks. Each meal is approx 400 calories. It is very carefully proportioned. I have to eat my Protein first and then the other parts of the meal. No drinking 10 minutes before a meal or 1 hour after, no gum, no straws, no rice/pasta/tortillas, only well toasted bread, no alcohol, no caffeine...basically what it will be like after surgery. They want to make sure that you are able to do it and are committed because you will have to eat like this for the rest of your life after surgery.
  2. Today it was in the 90's so after I finally got off work and went grocery shopping we packed up dinner and went to the river! We had a lovely picnic on the picnic tables and then a nice swim. I Swam against the current for about 20 minutes, it was so exhausting! But obviously great exercise!

    Hello!

You must have me confused with someone else. I'm having mine done in Richmond, CA. I started my pre-op diet on the 15th of this month. It's not too bad. You can do it! Just think of how great you are going to feel. It's a great reward. Do you have a surgery date yet? I don't. I'm meeting with my surgeon on 7/15 and I hope to get my surgery date them. Tanya
  4. Hey Julie, I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to hear your story! You're gorgeous too. :) Tanya

  5. Hey Julie, congratulations on everything! I can't wait to hear how everything goes for you. You're gorgeous! Tanya

    Work...Time off... Need to know.

My program automatically gives 4 weeks. You can request if you want less or need more.
  7. Ok, I bit the bullet and signed up for and paid for the 14 week class. The first class will be next Thursday! I knew I really needed to do it but it was the money holding me back. My husband can pick up some overtime if needed. Thanks for the kick in the pants Neil. Tanya

    4 month pic updates

    Simply gorgeous. What an inspiration.
  9. Excuse me, 36 miles!!!!!!

  10. LOL! I am a lead worker in the training unit at the welfare department! I take the newbies and teach them how to do eligibility! Before my promotion I told people that my job was giving away the government's money, now I train other people how to do it!! Tanya :)

  11. 32 mile bike ride?! I'm so impressed!! I live in the most beautiful place to bike ride too, lots of people bike here, we even have the tour of California come though here. I would love to do something like that someday! You are an inspiration. :) Tanya

    Calories????

Do you mean 60-80 grams of Protein? Or do you actually mean fiber?
  14. Ok, Bike ride is complete. We biked 6 miles. I know that isn't a lot to the Lance Armstrong wannabees but it was a huge thing for me. I'm 306lbs for gosh sakes! I felt miserable the whole time and it took a while to cool off once I got home but now I feel great! I can't believe I did that. My husband, God bless him and his freaking skinny body, was very supportive and wanted to stay with me when I was struggling. I was a b***h because I was so miserable and embarassed abou...

  15. I can't wait to meet him, I have heard nothing but great things about him! Anything I should know about him and his style? Does he have certain things he expects before surgery? Or anything else I could know that would give me an advantage to be doing when I go to see him? Thanks! Tanya
  16. Hey Neil! The next support program starts the 30th. I REALLY want to go but I don't have the $160 to pay all at once. I WISH they would let me make payments! Both my kids are attending camp in July and I have already committed the money to that. I'm so bummed. I would LOVE to come to the support meetings you are facilitating though. The Kaiser Santa Rosa meetings are only monthly and I called to ask about it the day after the last one! I barely missed it. Where are you located? Thanks! Tanya
  17. I would love to fit into my husband's t-shirts!
  18. Hi Gayle! I'm a former Idahoan, I hope you are doing great!

    Unsupportive Sister and Mother

I still haven't told my family that I'm having the surgery. My husband is so supportive. He helps me plan my meals and he has read through my information binder 2 times. He is really interested in everything about it and has just been amazing. My kids also know, they don't care either way. Although it's annoying when I buy certain food for myself and they eat it or when i'm trying to measure all the water i'm drinking and they take swigs off my water bottle. But they have been great exercise buddies. My 14 year old walks with my while my 10 year old rides her bike. I've been reluctant to tell the rest of my family because I don't want any advice or opinions. I know what I want and i'm doing it, I think I will wait until right before surgery. But I will definitely tell them at some point. I also have told my boss and my closest co-workers because I will be taking 4 weeks off work and will be missing work due to pre-op appointments and they have been supportive. Good luck! Tanya

The Past is in The Past

I loved your post. I think we are soul sisters. That post could have easily been posted by me. It's my story. I'm so proud of you for getting to this point! I can't wait to see how your journey goes.

    Finally I have a date

Woo Hoo!! Congratulations!! Let me guess, most of these well wishers aren't obese? If they only know what it was like to live this way they would surely change their minds. Enjoy your success, you deserve it!

On the Road to Taking My Life Back

Hi Cammy, wow it does sound like you have had a rough road! I hope everything from here on out goes smooth as silk. I can't wait to follow your progress, I'm pre-op too. I have pernicious anemia as well, it's no biggie. Good luck! Tanya
