What is your full feeling?
If I'm chewing well and taking my time between bites, I usually will get bored with eating and that's my sign that satisfied. It's usually around a cup of food. Sometimes 1 1/2 cups. If I'm super hungry when I start eating and I'm probably eating too fast and not really paying attention I will get this feeling like I need to burp and that's when I know i need to either stop and take a break. I'm still learning how to eat with the band... It's definitely an adjustment. When I was first banded and eating mushies, I felt thanksgiving day stuffed with a 1/2 cup of soup. That's definitely not the case these days.

weird hunger pains
I'm 5 weeks out and I still get nauseated if I don't eat when I'm hungry. And in the beginning my hunger pains were intense! My doctor said to think of it like I have the stomach of a newborn. When babies get hungry they cry because their hunger is so intense. And just like a baby we start with fluids then slowly progress to solids. I never thought of it like that.

Post banding diet
Your post op diet is identical to mine :-)

HELP...this isnt in my head
I had that same pain but just for the first 8-10 days. Since you're so concerned, which i would be too, I would definitely call your doctor. I know the doctor's office probably thought I was annoying but I called many times the first week because I had more pain that I expected. Hope you feel better soon.

Another Question :)
I think you need more calories too.... Also, a chiropractor visit could really help that shoulder and neck gas pain. Do you get the pain while eating? Some people have the shoulder pain as a signal that they're full....

Sleeping
Yes! For the first 4 nights after surgery I couldn't even sleep in a recliner. I had to sleep sitting straight up in my wing back chair with multiple pillows behind my back. Then I graduated to the recliner for a few nights. Then I could sleep in my bed but with 4 pillows elevating my head and back. FINALLY I could sleep in bed normally but, I believe, it was 3 weeks til I could sleep on my port side. Even still, at 5 weeks post op, it's uncomfortable to sleep on my port side. All that to say, you're not alone :-) hope that helps and you get to feeling better soon!

Sore Port Area
Mine is always sore. Especially today... I'm wearing a dress with a high waisted belt and the metal buckle sits right on my port. Oy vey.

Scars and stretch marks
You can find it anywhere basically. I got mine at walgreens. It's $20 but it will last a long time. I got the mederma gel. There's also the SPF cream but I didn't think that was necessary since you scars are never in the sun. Plus the SPF kind is $25.

My surgery is in 10 days--I'm so nervous!
I had no nausea. I'm 5 weeks out from surgery and sometimes I get nauseated when I'm very hungry and it's time to eat... But nothing that would make me throw up. Everyone is different though. My gas pains were fairly severe... But most people's aren't. My incision sites never hurt. I did have port pain... It was difficult to get up and change positions but you'll adjust quickly. I was able to take my pills. They had me take them in the hospital. I just split them in half. And I was taking percacet(sp?) which are HUGE. You'll be fine. Try not to be so nervous... It will be here and over with before you know it :-)

Day2 banded....I feel hungry? Help!
When can you have protein shakes? I was allowed those on day 2... But i had so much swelling that I couldn't drink them. But when you're able to drink those that should help. Can you have sugar free jello? That also helped me. That's considered a clear liquid...

Liquid Diet Before Lap Band Surgery?
Mine was "try to stay away from the carbs" for 2 weeks and nothing to eat or drink after midnight. I had to stay under a certain BMI for surgery and I was nervous about being over it so I put myself on liquids for three days prior to surgery... But my doctor didn't require it.

Scars and stretch marks
I've been using maderma for less than a week and I can already see a difference!

No Energy
I felt better on day 8. I highly admire those that went back to work in just a few days! That was definitely not me. Make sure to drink plenty of water, take your vitamins and walk. I bet if I would have done those things more I would have felt better sooner. Good luck!

first meal
My doctor says 1/2 cup of protein. 1/2 cup of veggies and then if you're still hungry you can have another 1/2 cup of protein, veggies or fruit. Not everyone knows when enough is enough... So if I were you, I'd measure my food. :-) good luck! I was nervous eating my first meal, but you'll be fine.

Anyone else have the 15cc band and how many fills till restiction?
My doctor said most people feel restriction around 1/2 of the capacity of your band... But again, like Cindy said, everyone is so different. I have a 14 cc band with no fill(I'm 5 weeks out from surgery) and I already have decent restriction and I'm losing. I have an appointment in 3 weeks for a fill and will get one... But I'm hoping that will put me in my green zone for a while. Who knows though. As of now, I can eat whatever I want just about 1/2 as much as I use to. I could probably keep eating if I wanted to but I just listen to my body and eat slowly. I stop when I'm satisfied... Not "full". Hopefully you'll get there soon!

Post Op port pain
If you're concerned I'd check with your doctor. I did have a port infection. But thankfully it cleared up. If you have an infection it will be swollen, very hot to touch, red... And you'll probably have a fever. If you have any of those symptoms call your doctor asap and get an antibiotic. Hope you feel better soon!

Post Op port pain
I had that pain. It will go away. I use to not be able to sleep in either of my sides because it felt like my port was pulling so hard. Just try getting up a little slower... And eventually you'll feel much better.

Ugh!!!
Oh my... I know how you're feeling. I was miserable until day 8. I had very severe gas pains. I had go sleep sitting straight up for 4 nights in my wing back chair with pillows behind me. It really will get better. My heating bad was my saving grace. And walking and ibuprofen. Gas mess did nothing for me, but awesome for those who it did work for. You won't regret this! I've lost 20 since surgery(1 month ago) and 20 before! Im down 2 sizes in clothes and feeling better everyday!

pork??
I had bacon wrapped scallops tonight at dinner and it seemed way too salty to me. But i've had turkey bacon and it tasted great. I'd try that and see how it sits with you.

How long where you on liquids post-op?
I was on liquids for three weeks. Can you not drink any other brand of Protein shakes? What about Jello, Popsicles, tomato soup. Blended soups? For the first week I was on clears... But week 2 and 3 were full liquids... Basically any soup of it were blended and strained. I wasn't hungry during that time but I did start getting disgusted with eating the same things. If you like miso soup you could go to your local Chinese restaurant and get miso soup and just drink the broth. Also, making my own chicken broth tasted soooo much better than the canned or boxed stuff.

Calcium supplement
I noticed today(after already taken the entire huge bottle) that my chewable multivitamins are 50 calories each and I'm suppose to take 4! Holy crap! That's 200 calories. I'll definitely be looking for a different one now.

What's up? My weight! That's what.
Thanks Kim. I'm definitely going to stay between 950-1200 calories because that's what my doctor wants. I honestly wasn't beat up about the weight gain I just thought it was weird. Because I feel healed, ya know? But I realize my body is just adjusting. Plus, i got on the scale this morning and had lost the 6-7 lbs I had gained in the past week. So back to 269 I am and hopefully it's the last time I see that number :-) You guys are great! It's nice to know I'm not alone in this journey :-)

Who set your goal weigh?
No.. The average lap bander loses 65% of their excess body weight. Therefore, if you weigh a hundred pounds overweight, the average person loses 65 lbs.
