My name is Dani.  I am a life long severe asthmatic.  Starting about 2004 until around September 2009 I began having to be on and off 5 to 7 days taper doses of prednisone and anitbiotics sometimes 2 to 3 times a months for chronic asthma and related infections.  Consequently, gaining just over 100lbs in 4 years.  Been on diet plans and exercised only to lose 25lbs and have to go back on the nedication and gain it all back again.  I have been put on an injection program with Xolair for my asthma since February 2009 and the benefits started to kick in at the 6 month point.  I am currently still getting my monthly 2 injections.  These injections are for allergy induced asthma and help me to not have to be so steroid dependent.  I still need to be on tapred doses of prednisone occasionally such as 4 to 5 times a years.  Anyhow, I have not been able to permanently get enough weight off on my own to really get my body to heal properly without needing a ton of medications.  My asthma odctor recommended a lap band to help me out last summer.  So here I am finally at the turning point of having a surgery date of June 29, 2011.  I am exteremly nervous and hope I am doing the right thing.  I would be nice to communicate with others doing the ssame thing to get back to health. I have my pre op doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon.  Aloha
