    Chobani Greek Yogurt

Tiff, Some of those carbs are coming from the fruit...however, 19 g of sugar is coming from the 3rd ingredient...evaporated cane juice (basically raw sugar). I get the plain 0-2% fat greek yogurt and add no sugar added fruit jam. It keeps the carbs and sugars down for me. I agree though...the Chobani does taste good!

    Day 6 of Oxycodone 3x a day

Tn1031, I had minimal pain, honestly. Extra Strength Tylenol liquid handled any pain I had.
  3. If you think of sips being the size of 1 cc it really helps in the first couple weeks. I'm 8 weeks out now and can take three consecutive mouthfuls (swallows) without it causing gas buildup.
  4. Ishary, I used that as a guideline too. My surgeon has a very slow progression to solid foods. I complied for the first two weeks and then did a modified "Cornell/John Hopkins" surgery post op plan. Be very sensible, avoid raw crunchy foods too soon and keep your carb count down and you'll probably be fine. I think the Cornell plan is very easy to understand and follow and still be safe.

    Protein-laced HOT Tea!

Lee, Your program may want you to get all your protien from food, but the reality of WLS life is that you'll almost surely need one protein supplement to get in 70-80 grams a day. We cannot eat the portions of food that will allow us to get it all from food unless you eat just protien. That would not be a healthy diet. So in order to include the other food groups such as vegetables, fruit and whole grains you will very likely have to supplement. Try to find a nutritionist or surgeon that has personal experience with living day to day with WLS. They will say the same thing.

    Tell me this lasts!!!

Honestly, there are times it makes me want to cry. Like you loser, I never understood those damn skinny people telling me that they often "forgot" to eat. And now, I truly get it. I know that part of it is getting off all the addictive carbs, which can be done without surgery, but the physical satiety is key for me. Since doing South Beach Diet several years ago, I've tried to eat healthier and really read labels but I'd still overeat the portions. Now I can eat healthy and be satisfied!
  7. This depends on if you're going to follow the post-op rules and also if you're going to get in exercise. Also depends on your personal metabolism because no two people are going to burn calories the same way. It's unrealistic to set expectations of a specific "inch or pound" loss. Better to just do everything right and be happily surprised as the weight comes off.

    Work

Sinner, It will depend on how physically strenous your job is. Most surgeons restrict lifting for 6 weeks after surgery (nothing more than 15#). I have a mentally demanding job but it's not physically difficult. I returned to work exactly one week after surgery.

    Buffet??

I agree, just order off the menu. Order egg drop soup or some sort of savory dish that will reheat well, and box most of it. Skip the rice entirely.
  10. Youknowit, the sugar free chai flavor is awesome too.

    Vacation after surgery???

21 is the age of legal responsiblility. If you've already taken control of your weight issues you're ahead fo the game. Why not make your 21st birthday a celebration of your weight loss and a new direction for the rest of your life of being healthy? One or two drinks isn't going to kill you, but getting rip-roaring drunk just to celebrate turning 21 is going to add a ton of unneccessary calories and give you a headache the next day. so...the first day of your 21st year, instead of going for a hike or a swim..you'd be huddled in bed. Is that how you want to start it? You asked for opinions....here's mine. Get healthy first...be able to really enjoy all those activities in the new trimmer you and celebrate responsibly the day you turn 21.

    Sleeved yeterday and feeling bad

soothing hot tea helped me with painful sipping. Heating pad helped with the gas pain. Honestly, I didn't walk much and rarely needed anything like gas x or anything like that. But I don't think I had a cold drink until I was maybe .....3 weeks past my surgery date? ... I just kept sipping all kinds of hot tea with half portions of protein powder in them.

    What are your favorite snacks

This is an old South Beach Diet trick..... You'll need parchment paper...and no..waxed paper will NOT work instead. It has to be parchment paper. Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit in your microwave. Put nickel size pieces of reduced fat cheese on the parchment paper (I use reduced fat string cheese, sharp cheddar or shredded (not grated) parmesan). put parchment with the cheese on it into the microwave. Cook for 30-45 seconds, it might take a full minute. Cheese will puff up, let cool slightly and see if it's crisp. (They crisp after they cool slightly). You can sprinkle the cheese portions with taco seasoning, italian season...whatever suits you for extra flavor. these are salty, crunchy and a great source of protein!

Midwest Girl, Yes.. the Amy's Organics line is found in the frozen foods. I double checked the carb count today and it's 18 gms carbs with 10 gms Protein. If I'm going to indulge in carbs I prefer that the protein count nearly match the carb count...(like with Wendy's Chili). But I can't get over how good that enchilada was. I'm pretty sure I could recreate it (homemade) and get the protein count up a bit but for a readymade frozen dinner, this one's a keeper. I know alot of people avoid corn tortillas because of the carb count, they also avoid popcorn for the same reason. However, Corn is a whole grain and if eaten in moderation, it can be part of a healthy diet. I'd rather have one corn tortilla in a healthy enchilada that satisfies a craving than to have something unsatisfying that keeps me searching the cupboards and trying different things.

    Home from Mexicali

Yeah...I remember that "being cold" thing too. Seemed like it took a couple weeks before my body temp regulated again..until then I used heating pads and long underwear...lol. Of course...it IS really cold in Indiana in December and January..(and February, March, April and part of May.)

    Home from Mexicali

It's difficult to get comfortable the first week after surgery. Once the soreness eases you'll get some sleep. Take short naps (or long ones) as needed to be sure you get enough rest to continue healing. Welcome to the sleever's side of weight loss!

by the way.. I had an Amy's Organic Corn, Tomato, Cheese Enchilada the last two nights for supper. It's higher in carbs than I really prefer, but very satisfying in flavor. When I looked at the portion size I thought .."yeah right, sure that's two portions".....but .. it really was a correct portion for a sleever. One was perfectly satisfying and the other easily reheated in the microwave the next day. Nice enchilada taste and with no meat it was very easy to chew thoroughly and enjoy. I won't do it often because of the corn tortilla = carbs...but when I'm craving that flavor kick I'll sure have it again.

    Protein-laced HOT Tea!

Hot beverages go down great for me....when it's cold outside I hate the very thought of a sweet cold shake. I use the peach tea flavor of Crystal light and mix in some vanilla Protein powder....if you mix the powder into cool Fluid and warm it 30 seconds at a time, stir it every 30 seconds...and repeat until it's hot enough to suit you.. you can get it hotter than 130 degrees that way...although not alot. I use the Body Fortress chocolate Protein Powder every morning to make a "hot cocoa" start to my day... 1 1/2 scoop powder to 12 oz Water. It jump starts me with 35 gr protein that way. good luck

    Protein-laced HOT Tea!

Loser...if you can blend it to a texture you could suck through a straw.....go for it.
  22. whether you can mix it with Crystal Light or not depends on if you are on clear fluids or full liquids. Clear Liquids means you must be able to see through it. As for taste...it's tolerable because it's only 3 oz. Best to just plug your nose and get it down if you choose that type of Protein supplement. I've read that it's not a high quality source of protein...but then I've heard that ANY protein source is better than getting none .... so I don't know what to believe. Good luck

    trying to decide

Seriously???? Seriously your doctor suggested diet pills rather than a very easy surgery that will give you a permanent solution???? Holy cow.....some doctors have NO shame. Did you ask him how many people lost 100 pounds with diet pills and kept it off? I'm sorry......if I had a doctor who's best suggestion was diet pills, I'd be looking for another doctor. I mean, that's got to be the absolute LEAST effective way to reduce weight safely. Best of luck on getting some medically sound advice,
