How Did You Do on Thanksgiving?

@@lmm300missouri i lost about 95 lbs in 9 months the last 10 lbs took about 3 month!!! you have lost 81 lbs in 3+ months that's amazing!! the last few lbs frequently take a little longer to loose i will be 4 years PO on December 15th!!! 3 years GOAL!! maintenance has been a little hard for me at times before you say you are "proud" of this proudgrammy i will admit i gained weight a couple of months ago and then a little more with thanksgiving wanted to go back to liquids on friday didn't happen today is a new day back on track now i have confidence in the two of us!! we will both do great from my lips to Gods' ears good luck to both of us take care kathy
  2. @@Msimmons1990 welcome to the board and your first post!!! you have started the process already you turned your paperwork in for approval by insurance go to a seminar about weight loss surgery talk/visit a couple of surgeons then you will have a comparison to see who might be more qualified, experienced you should be comfortable/have confidence in the doc you choose write a list of questions you want to ask doc will send you to his NUT (nutritionist) i met with mine 3 times before surgery various blood work meet with a psychiatrist EKG other stuff i can't remember i told all my docs about my weight loss surgery for example - ortho i was scheduled for knee replacement before surgery when i told him i was having the sleeve he said he wanted to postpone replacement til i reached goal (physical therapy would be easier for me) family doc etc as an educator, i'm sure you know you must read a lot about the sleeve become more informed knowledge is power!! one, two, three you are out of the starting gate get going!!! "this" is a marathon, not a sprint!!! good luck kathy

    Getting there

@@chat@ontera.net Whattttt??? i am an ol' fart, not sure i heard you right you stayed on liquids for one whole month!!!! (maybe others have too) i might be making too much of a big deal but i think all shakes for a month is great!! i was glad my doc didn't put me on a pre-op liquid diet in hindsight i know i could have put myself on shakes I would have lost a few lbs prior to surgery some members on the board signed up to do all liquids for 5 days (at least) i did great for four days then i said screwww this!!! sticking to only liquids (Protein shakes) for one month shows your dedication and strength!!! this adds up to success as you continue with the sleeve holding a Protein shake to your health keep up the the good work i'm sure you will!!! kathy congrats

How Did You Do on Thanksgiving?

@ good for you sounds like you are eating great/following all the rules having a few bites of different things, here and there moderation, moderation, moderation i think that's perfectly acceptable especially if you go back to normal eating and drinking the next day (like you did) common mistake by many "they" think they will never be able to eat normal foods again WRONG!!! you will be able to eat anything and everything in moderation after a certain time period/stage of eating "maybe" an exception, can't think of one 68 lbs gone!!! keep up the good job kathy congrats
  6. @@nikisa we can tell you what our docs said in my case i had to wait 6 weeks to start exercising other people might have been allowed to go back sooner - or later the one thing we have in common is that we're all different talk to YOUR doc about when you can go back to exercising he might start you off slow, then say you can progress to harder machines et al doc is the one in the know for you always only listen to your doc/or NUT (or me!!! ) 8 day PO feeling pretty good?? that's great!! don't push yourself toooo hard doc will advise you good luck kathy

@@Sexy Granny from one grammy to a granny What did you eat?? M&M's have no sugar, calories, fat, carbs plenty of protein!!! right???? i don't think so Moments of weakness?? Knock it off!!LOL happens to the best of us i know you will work hard on doing better but................shitttt happens as others have said a Protein bars are great nuts are good too, but measured amount is too small for me baby bel cheese pkg of Cabot Serious Snacks (that is what they are called) sharp cheddar cheese (80 calories) doesn't show protein amount (which is usually a bad sign) but cheese and protein usually go hand in hand beef jerkey you "might" not like this suggestion but..............i always bring my Water jug (64 0z) go to the counter and ask them to fill with ice and water they always do it for me probably because "i'm cute as a button" water gives me a fuller feeling (not perfect but helps) if i'm not mistaken @@Elode you posted water doesn't fill you up memory still working kiddo??? i buy a 10 pkg box of Pop-Secret Kettle Corn for my pantry one small pkge = 100 calories i will nuke one bag and sneak into theater or eat watching tv (not a good habit) i know their are carbs and other bad junk but as a rare treat - i will eat one pkg (i haven't been shot yet!!) popcorn might not be the best suggestion 7 months PO, right?? not a newbie - not a vet - right between maybe hold off on the popcorn for now!! good luck kathy

Protein is essential drinking the shakes is good you should/need to eat foods that have protein (i know you can) (ie chicken, tuna fish) you know the drill Pllllease drink more Water it amazing (to me) the benefits of water start today and keep track of ALL your food (ie MFP) everything you put in your mouth!!! at any time!!! put in computer be honest with yourself put everything down in ie MFP usually when you see/realize how much you eat you might say "OMG i ate all thattttt"?? anything i tell you, and others say you already know you need to follow i know you can do it i always have had confidence in you you can't change yesterday today is a new day fresh start immediately (not tomorrow) you said earlier you are "trying not to be discouraged" do or do not - there is no try!!!! (Yoda) kudos on seeing your doc sometimes when people are having problems haven't been doing so well, even gained they don't want to "face" their doc/or NUT good for you that you are addressing the problem right on "knowing you have a problem, is 1/2 the battle" (something like that) good for you being "brave" and coming back to BP my name is kathy - and i am addicted to BP!! you'll be reminded of what/how certain things can/need to be done get encouragement from others see other success stories, or problems your NSV for the day is coming back to the board!!! 22. @@amandasue welcome, welcome, welcome always room for one more first post too - good for you "the one thing we have in common is that we are all different" back to work 3 days PO?? i have heard of people having surgery on a friday - back to work on Monday!! i think they are the exception to the rule people's reactions to be newly sleeved, any operation - react differently i have heard responses of 2 weeks back to work but - it depends on the person able to swallow your meds??? i think that is quite a variable i was able to swallow my meds within a couple of days - no prob others might need to squish up in apple sauce for a few days wraps for loose skin??? "probably" some others have tried i never tried lotions?? i buy a generic brand from Rite Aide drug store back to gym??? i think this is a major question for your doc some people are told they can go to gym with 6 weeks, a month or........ walking was the basic good exercise i did within a few days good luck with surgery speedy recovery kathy
