Sounds like your doing great. I have been on glucafage (msp) these past 6 years, it was beginning to interfere with my kidneys. So i started insulin about 2 months ago ( I saw my GP today, and he said all is looking good, will have some bloodwork end of january, and prob will be off medicine (also high blood pressure and high cholterol (big time msp) I'm so excited about this. Sounds like you have a great DH,asking all those questions and stuff ) my WLS was 12/15/11- so i'm right behind you ) Take care and see you on the posts. hope it was ok - to peak at your blog. thanx kathy

Don't Think Is Wl Related, Sorry
ProudGrammy replied to MariaVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Marita, nice to meet you. As far as your weight loss is concerned, i think you're right on target since 11/23/11, 24 lbs. is great. The number will keep moving up, you'll see. As far as what foods you should eat in the soft phase (or any other phase) use your Bariatric Center, they will help you. Speak with your NUT - or maybe one of your "new" friends online can give their help too. Thats what we're here for I am glad your WLS went well, and thats not a problem. But you can always vent here about stuff. Those people from work/neighborhoood will be the better when they find you as a friend. I'm sure you will meet new people and make friends, it takes more time sometimes. sorry i can't help you more with that. continued good luck with your sleeve katjy -
Aw girlfriend How proud you must feel!! You do look so beautiful with DH. Congratulations on your successful journey, and never look back - except to remember how great you are now. Happy anniversary. Don't forget your past, but..........best wishes towards your future. kathy

Does Gastric Sleeve Surgery Help With Hunger ?
ProudGrammy replied to carbgrl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HELP i said the below in a different forum, but i'm gonna say it hear if you missed it: i read all the boards saying above, that you don't feel hungry etc. I'm just afraid that won't be the case with me as with you guys. To reassure me - tell me i'm wrong - it sounds like everyone else feels it, the sleeve is great etc. thats all i hear, i'm just concerned cuz i'm so early in the game. Less than 2 wks post op - liquid diet. i'm worrying over nothing, right? like i said, need a little reassurance that the sleeve will work for me too (i know i have to work with it completely too) i don't want to be the lone ranger. kathy -

Problems Finding Foods I Like Post Op 1 Month
ProudGrammy replied to wickedmijagabby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hell fellow sleevers I have been afraid of post-op since before surgery. I am afraid i will love food just as much as before the surgery, and i am afraid how i will not really be limited on my food. I have already convinced myself i can't and won't eat sweets which has always been my weakness. i'm just very afraid of what comes next. My surgery was 12/15/11 - i'm still on my Protein shake diet til i see the NUT. Please reassure me that my worries are over nothing. BTW - no pre-op total loss 13 lbs. i need this sleeve to work - i know it can only help me, and i'm responsible for myself, but i'm still very scared. thanx Kathy -
Hey, All You December Sleevers...
ProudGrammy replied to lisahg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hi Last Chance Sue When I walked in the hall, i had this machine hooked up w/IV 's and all that good stuff. it kindof made it harder to walk. Did you have that too. thanx kathy -
too funny, i was looking at a couple of earlier posts, i saw one about Water that really looked similar to what i wrote above - well it turns out that i wrote the same post 2 days ago about the water, just worded differently. i guess i'm really concerned about my situation about drinking/gulping water, that i didn't realize i had already written something 2 days ago. still overly concerned about my drinking, but i'll survive kathy

hi fellow sleevers Here's my H20 question i'm still on my liquids post-op -DOS 12/15/11 - what i'm really afraid of is that i'm drinking too fast/ too much which might hurt my sleeve. We were always told to sip, sip etc., i thought this was because that was the "rule" and we wouldn't be able to drink faster without "hurting" our sleeve.. I saw my NUT on Friday and told her i had tried a couple of times to drink more than a sip without a problem - and she said as long as my stomach was "handling" it, no problem. she said if i don't have to sip thats ok too .Many people can't do more than sip, but if i can do more thats ok too. I'm soooo not gulping or anything, i tell my DH to watch me drink, and he says it looks like a long sip, but not a gulp. What i'm afraid of is this - by the end of my Protein shake i'm full, but maybe i can't tell if I'm full earlier and should have stopped. (the sleeve should tell me if i'm full, but what if i don't realize it? I haven't even done solids yet and i'm worried i won't hear my sleeve when i'm supposed to. Maybe I'm saying this wrong, but.....please advice, i'm alittle worried. BTW this goes for my broth too which i love. thanx As the saying goes i doing want to "stretch" my sleeve ." I know that really can't happen but.............. thanx for your help kathy

Hi Ateam I believe Water loss consists of all you said, water based shake, milk, broth. i'm pretty sure when you don't have that much to lose, like you, its harder to lose those final lbs. Good luck kathy

ProudGrammy replied to emily_0192010's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
hi emily, 100x over I congratulate you. What a terrific accomplishment. I'm so happy for you in many ways that your life is taking a turn for the better. Emily you said "weight didn't cause any of the changes" I agree. But i always think as you are losing weight you are starting to feel better on the inside, which shows on the outside. I mean your self-confidence, esteem all that good stuff. Of course having a better appearance makes you feel better on the outside too. Once again congratulations on your new job, being able to go back to school, living in your favorite city. Things are looking up up and away. What better person could this happen to? Oh yes, congrats on your continued weight loss - sorry we'll being seeing "less of you" kathy -
Can You Gain Back Weight With Sleeve?
ProudGrammy replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi all, what i've heard here on the board is if you do your regular stuff eating properly, all should be well. I don't think you will "stretch" your sleeve. If you start eating regular and start grazing you probably eventually have problems, Eating continually through the day is not the thing to do. The sleeve is not this "magic" tool. its just a tool that when you use correctly, it will help your weight. You must respect your sleeve, then it will respect you. kathy -

Will We Have To Sip Forever?
ProudGrammy replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all - I'm 11 days post-op, and all of a sudden a little concerned. I always knew sip, sip, sip etc. after surgery. I told my NUT that i was able to drink my H20 at a quicker speed, not gulping and stuff, just drinking more at a normal rate. Once again, not gulping - but i just finished my Protein shake, and my stomach is "comfortably" full. Its not good to be full right? Did I drink too much and fast? When I told my NUT a few days ago that i was able to drink more she said something like "good, some people just can't drink that much so early after surgery, but if your stomach can handle it - thats good" I will call her wednesday when she returns to work, but i want to make sure i'm doing ok, and not "stretching my stomach" i know thats a terrible term and i really can't stretch it with what is going on. If I were to drink slower I know i couldn't get my 64 oz in. So how am i doing? -
Surgery In A.m.! A Little Freaked Out!
ProudGrammy replied to medicgipson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Medic NOT holding back at your request about the pain. The one thing we all have in common, is that we're all different. Everybody's pain is different.. Many many people are very lucky and have absolutely no pain at all. Seriously no pain. In the hospital, i was a little uncomfortable, couldn't move that well in bed, so i had some pain. I spent 2 nights. I was quite ready to go home on the 3rd day. But I would say i was lucky too with little pain. Its not that i can't take meds, they just honestly don't seem to be effective. If you don't want to take anything stronger than advil or something tell the nurse, but you might try stuff they can give you through the IV that would be helpful. Sure i was sore, I just had surgery, but it wasn't terrible. I have a very low tolerance to pain. I felt ok though, so that must mean that others would have felt better in my shoes. My pain improved daily. I was home Saturday morning, I improved daily, the main problem i had was sleeping. My incision side had the big cut in it, so that side hurt, and even laying on the left hurt me too. Sleeping was my hardest thing. As far as the next stage, people who had more pain, well they would have to tell you there stories. Sure people have other problems, pain is a result of their problems - but this too shall pass. And they all lived to tell about it. take care and best wishes for your successful surgery and smooth recovery kathy -
Hi abiluv7 - how are you feeling, how is the drain site. Did they pull the drain. Hope you didn't have to wait in the ER too long, thats no fun. hope things are going better kathy

oooooooooh Blackanese I'm sorry you fell - that must of hurt you alot, i hope someone was near to help you. Wish this hadn't happened to you. Yes of course you must get yourself checked out and find out what is going on in the inside.. The whole board is thinking of you, kathy

hey peacequeen - you deserve a big "way to go" it must be so hard to cook for your family, make goodies and all that stuff, to basically turn your nose up to it. You're still pre-op, right? My DH and i don't really Celebrate the holidays. We live in upstate NY, and my daughter and family (3 wonderful grand kids) live in GA now. They moved a couple of months ago due to better promotion opportunities for my son-in-law. Ok my daughter and son-in-law can leave, but did they have to take my grand-kids? Anyways, sounds like you're a great cook, I don't know how to boil Water as they say. I think when you cook, you help with your eating plan w/the sleeve. Give yourself a big "at a boy" - hope you can relax a bit, take a deep breath and do it again tomorrow Glad you're day has come to an end, hopefully you can rest, hope santa was nice to you and yours - kathy kathy
