    The Secret Of My Success

hi Stronger_Diva What i never understood about "people like you" i get that you use to eat a lot (didn't we all) but excersizing all your life, shouldn't that have helped you maintain a better shape/figure and all around appearance? never excercised before, therefore my weight just "sat" there, but since you worked out too, it must have helped how you look, good, and how you felt. i also always wondered how a person with a higher weight can excercise. At 235, well, i could do some machines and stuff, but never stuff like you probably did. I just felt too big. kathy

    May 15Th Sleeve

My right side was also the area where all the stiches and junk applied. It hurt soooo very much, especially when i tried to lay down for bed. Things got better, day by day - within 5 days the horrible pain had subsided, and i was much much better. What a relief. hope you feel better soon kathy
  3. "started a load of laundry, ate 1/2 my Protein soup, and now need a catnap before I walk my court 3x. Realistically, how long should I expect no getup and go?" ****************************************************************************************************************************** OMG, you are only 5 days post surgery. what are you doing with all that work going on? are you trying to set a record in sleeveland take a breath, your kids are in school, rest, lay down - you need to give your body a break. The laundry can wait. You are more important, really. You did this surgery for you, now you must take care of YOU. Hopefully someone can give you a hand. Mom/friend/hubby? But take things in stride. If there is no one to help, oh well, the house can wait. You must take care of you. When you really have to get back to house cleaning, take it slow. As you said, everyone is different in there recuperation, it can take anywhere from bouncing up at the beginning, to one, two or more weeks to feel better before you run around the block. But thats ok - if it takes a while, rest etc. you are still so early in the game, you had major surgery - give yourself a break. - Don't rush into anything. take care and please don't hurry. best of luck as you start this wonderful journey kathy

I Have One Doozy Of A Cold.

CandymanYou've got a whole week to get over that nasty cold. I hope you feel better sooner than later.. I understand why you are worried, but just concentrate on getting well. Totally pamper yourself, stay in bed, drink fluids etc. Hopefully this will get rid of your cold sooner than later. On the other hand, if you are sick, they might have to postpone surgery for a bit - but don't worry, really. You'll be better, i'm sure of it. Take care kathy

    July 11

Mz hi there, i think we all wish our surgeries were "yesterday" but i'm afraid it doesn't work that way Get ready for surgery, it is kindof fun watching the calendar as the days go by. I had a 2 month wait, lots of people have similar stories. But---I know some people on the board get their WLS in one week - go figure. The important thing is, you are on your way. Trust me, July 11th will be here before you know it, really Take care Good luck on your journey kathy

    Nsv - First Family Dinner

kyllfalcon congrats girlfriend, job well done. i have always felt lucky that my daughter is married and not around anymore. (hmmmm that doesn't sound right does it She had the NERVE to take my 3 grandkids with her, does that seem right what i mean is that we're not around family or really go to barbecues and stuff - just me and my DH - so I'm not tempted by all that food around. i often wonder how people with kids and stuff do it, eat properly while cooking for the family. You love to cook, good for you, shows your strength and determination that you are doing so well while enduring good food smells. congrats again, and heres to a great summer kathy
  7. right after my WLS - my NUT told me to get as much protein in as possible w/shakes. My NUT then told me that its very difficult to get in so much protein at such an early stage. i was even told not to dwell on the protein, but drink, drink as much as you can, ie H20. most important to stay hydrated. the protein will come in time, soon, but concentrate right now on drinking many fluids. also popsicle are great, counting as a liquid. keep up the good work - everything will come together, and your wonderful journey will continue kathy

    Eggs And Pain?

mrsnate i also heard that many stomachs didn't tolerate eggs. On the other hand i make one very light scrambled egg at least 3 times a week. No problem with my sleeve. Phew, cause i love eggs. i remember the first time i made my scrambled egg, i looked at it and it was so small, i said are you kidding me? but it was plenty for me. UmUmUm best kathy
  10. Tyvette Warning, Warning - long email ahead hi there - you are very early in post surgery, Sorry you are having such a rough start i hope you have someone around in the vicinity to help you with stuff/to talk to - this board is great and we're here for others in "sleeveland" and especially for newbies that need help and support - and maybe a few hugggggs. things DO improve. remember, you had major surgery - sure you're tired and fatigued. if you do work outside of the home, i hope you can take time off to rest. i hope if you have those cute rugrats around (i know you love them) but they can be hard and demanding after surgery - try and get some help. i hope you can relax, sleep - this surgery is worth it, really. You thought it would be worthwhile before - and its too early to throw in the towel, please don't. You have to get liquids in - as much as possible. You don't want to get "officially" dehydrated. Drink whenever, whatever you can - Water seems to be the easiest, but at this early point, it might be hard to drink alot, drink slowly and it will stay down. But please dink, very important. I had a lot of popsicles. they are great. after 5 months i still enjoy them - purple being the way to go for me. one day after much sole searching, you wisely chose the sleeve to help with weight loss surgery. You knew you wanted to lose weight for health reasons, or combination of whatever. The purpose we all are here is to lose the evil weight. Thats why you went through such an invasive surgery. It will start paying off shortly, really. we all have confidence in you - but please take some confidence for yourself, ok? feel better soon, then your journey to success will be around the corner. don't be afraid to write, just to write NGR - no good reason ask any and all questions best kathy

I Am 207 How Do I Get To Onederland?

betterthanbefore per profile you are presurgery, once you are approved for WLS - maybe going to Mexico since you are paying yourself? some people put themselves on a prediet for a jump start, or by dr. you might even lose those 8 lbs to get into onederland, then the journey begins. lots more questions to ask, research to be done, and the inevidable hard work/change in lifestyle for the rest of your days. which is ok, cuz you want to get out of those bad habits you had, so you can eventually maintain a proper and healthier way of life. with the sleeve as your new best friend, using it at as a tool something to "assist" you in losing the inial weight, then in the following days of your life - to keep your weight down. come back anytime for more questions and i'm sure others from the group will give replies. PS - no secrets here just knowledge of alot of hard work good luck on your pending surgery kathy
  12. edwood nice to hear from you too, I know what you mean about the spam as far as people trying to sell you stuff and other bad junk you just don't need to hear about. - who needs it  you are such a success story - 115 lbs down in 10 months and still going strong. i'm sure you look fantastic - sounds like you are in a mini stall and those 30 lbs will come off in their own sweet time. i don't know anything about being a vegatarian, what special beliefs you have etc. (nothing wrong with it of course, no offense intended) - not not for me, but curious about "life of a vegatarian 101" best in your future kathy

    Sleeved December 28, 2011

irish, hey girl, can't see your progress pictures, only the first one showing you at your highest weight. Can you try and resend the pictures. I'm sure you look great. Don't worry so much about the fact that you have more weight to lose, think of the accomplishment you have already made. 75 lbs. down - you go lady. best kathy
  14. edwoodhi - so glad WLS went well for you, and you are now on the losing team. as far as "opting" out of getting all those emails, i believe you can contact administration with your request and they should be able to help you out. maybe another sleever will see this email you wrote and have a clearer response to help you. i think theres a way to compact emails you receive and by receiving one email for many responses to that title. something like that. fellow sleevers - please help with a better explanation. i know there is a way that you don't receive soooo many emails - hope someone else can help. BTW please don't "SPAM" us fellow sleevers, makes us feel yucky, technical term. sounds like you are new to the neighborhood continued luck on your journey best kathy

    Down Four Sizes!

cherry so happy to hear you are in better spirits. you've dropped those inches letting you wear smaller size clothes - wonderful. i know someone on here says something like "i may not be dropping lbs, but i am losing those inches" something like that. you'll get out of you're stall. keep up the great work your fellow sleever bud kathy
  16. hello fellow sleevers had my right knee relacement last month 4/26/12 - I'm sure many others have gone through this surgery too. I had my left knee replacement about 5 years ago, i hoped i would be more prepared for the second surgery, i was right. more prepared for the pain etc. was able to walk with the walker quickly after surgery, but in such pain - taking it ever so slowly, not to rush - slow and steady etc. etc etc. i have to work with PT big time on strengthening the leg, will take a while - but everything worth having, is worth waiting for, did i say that right? finally made it home from rehab yesterday. how wonderful is that? taking a shower at home and being able to sleep in my own bed. Ahhhhh it will take awhile to heal, but i'll recover and things will be better - similar to the initial pain of our WLS - its all worth it. since i don't have a smart phone, I couldn't keep up with the "news" from all you guys onboard - so i mssed each and everyone of you nice to see your smilin' faces kathy

    It's Sad...

hi Av80RNtx, i'm sorry you've had some negative feedback from some "alledged" friends. are these people by any chance overweight? when they all of a sudden see an aquaintance/friend that has lost weight, possiblly they just feel jealous - saying silly nasty things. Ignore them - you know the weight you needed to lose for yourself - you did it, please be proud. others that don't support you, oh well? congrats kathy

    I Hid My Scale

i am most definitely loosing, but i'm tired of looking at that damn scale like it defines me. i am gone for the next couple of weeks so i won't have a scale to weigh myself - njs - i'm putting my scale a way where i can't find it, only once a week i'll weigh. i'm not even gonna tell myself where i hid it
  20. to my fellow sleevers tommorrow 4/26/12 i have my 2nd knee replacement. Five years ago i had the left knee done, now the right knee wants to keep it company. I know i'm a more experienced camper now, but it still hurts as much i know that many, many of my fellow sleevers have also had this nasty knee replacement - nobody likes i. As with the WLS , i really don't have any problem with having "the surgery" what i dread is the after surgery work in wls, it was the preparing of food, not knowing how well i would do with eating, or this or that etcl. I never had any problems with recovery so that was great. After 4+ months i've lost almost 60 lbs and counting, i continue to do well. my knee surgery, after the fact, will be more difficult. Unlike the wls, i know i will be in pain post surgery. i will go a rehab facility (mp) for 10 days post surgery, then continue with out patient pt once i get home. i will be MIA from the puter for a couple of weeks - please be thinking of me ok egadddds - here goes.......................... kathy
