serenekolaski I seriously never knew that weight loss would decrease the chance of getting gout. One more benefit to losing weight with the help of our infamous sleeve weight loss effects so many different health issues. according to my mother, if i would lose more weight, i wouldn't get a hangnail thanx kathy

    Gout!

LBM I've also suffered with gout thats very interesting what you said about too much protein being a problem. I never heard that before. Do to my diabetes, i see my podiatrist every 10 weeks., insurance covers my toe nails being cut, but no manicure I know there are certain foods i shouldn't eat. Don't remember what though the protein thing sounds important, so i will definitely talk to my dr. about. thanx for the info kathy

    Motivation Needed................................please

the idea of doing a DVD is good. I have a lifetime membership to a gym - and i don't go often. So you are not alone in that i can totally understand about you being so busy - and then going to see your mom. you must be exhausted. Try and go on a sunday don't be hard on yourself congrats on going to a support group, things will happen in there own time good luck kathy

    Lack Of Support

told my best friend who was horrified unfortunately many friends might be honestly jeolous of you - or sincerely concerned on how things will turn out for you. Your friends who are overweight - are maybe thinking she is losing me, her "fat" friend, now who will I go out to dinner with? or just have good tiimes eating with. people who give negative feedback - just don't listen to, ignore, make your statement how you are going to do this, your excited about changing your life, and whateverelse you can think of. Its sad your DH doesn't really support/help you - clueless. Hopefully you'll find someone else who has experienced what you will be going through, or will be sleeved maybe you could find a support group in your area. 6/25/2012 - will be here before you know it good luck, you'll do great Remember you always have us kathy
  15. Toni welcome to sleeveland there might be a sleeve support group in your area (there is one in my area) that way you could get exactly what you are looking for. Fellow sleevers who haven't have the WLS, or others who have had the surgery. There is a thread on the board called "Who are You" This is the area where people descibe themselve ie, food, wt loss, etc. etc.

Loose Skin Is Freaking Me Out....

at one point a couple of months ago, i realized i had a "small pouch" I said thats ok - its not too bad at all. well now i'm at 6 months - 75 lbs. down - my pouch is getting alittle bigger. Well i've got a a bit to drop my last 20 lbs. - afraid it will be bigger by then. Oh well, if this is the price of getting healthier - its ok by me.

    Two Weeks

shelbi hi there, we all have these typical emotions before we are sleeved. Happy, scared. nervous, excited, its totally common. but thats ok - just shows you are normal, so to speak these next 2 weeks preparing you for your long jouney through life are really great, emotional, but great whey is what i had too. Hate to say this but you gotta suck it up....hmmmmm - pun there my late grandma - always gave my siblings and i these terrible tight perms. She would say "you have to suffer to look beautiful" I guess you could change that to say you have to "suffer" to be healthy, happy, and as a bonus maybe a little thinner too, and unfortunately drink your whey - and deal with other things that you might not enjoy.l Good luck kathy

    Tic Toc

CraftyV OMG - WLS on Monday. I'm sure you were probably nervous and excited earlier - but its really going to happen. Take a deep breathe and hold, then let out Thats so soon - Monday, get a grip You'll be fine, new journey, new life. best kathy
  22. Butterflylegacy As you are still a newbie sleever, drinking liquids/water is super important. 32 ounces+ at this stage of the game is really good. Eventually you will have to drink 64 oz. a day.- like we all must do. not all of us are successful with that huge amout of drinking - , i'm one that always has to push the liquids. There are other "crazy" people that can drink 1 gallon, hey you guys, that was said was affection and "jeolousy" Be more concerned about getting in your fluids so you don't get dehydrated. If you are successful in trying and drinking Protein shakes thats great. But don't worry that much about protein this early stage in the game. everything will come in its own good time. Odwalla drink, would like to hear more about it, never heard of Glad dr. said you are doing great. continued good luck kathy

How Do You Appear... Young Or Old?

Girlfriend, IMO if your insurance covers the sleeve - then go for the sleeve. If your dr. & insurance needs an immediate response i say chose the sleeve. it will work great for you as a great tool in losing your excess baggage. good luck kathy

    Vsg Vs. Ds

Emily Malabsorption is one of the reasons I chose the sleeve over any other WLS. I take a lot of medication and there must be no question that my meds are properly going through my system. Since this is the sleeve board, i can safely say most everyone here is happy and glad they had the sleeve done over any other WLS. There are exceptions of course. As far as "the DS being the fastest most powerful, not sure about that...." I'm a believer that slow and steady wins the race", and all those other cliche' that I can't think of :(but on the other hand we all lose weight at our own speed, we're all different, not good or bad. Good luck on your decision hope we see you in sleeveland kathy

    Afraid To Shop...wait, What?!?

Lyra hi there. i periodically "lurk" through the blogs. Your title about shopping intrigued me. Glad i read it. I'm down from 235 to 160 - thats totally amazing for me. I want to lose another 20 lbs. to be at my "proper" weight for my 5'3 height. I also don't know what clothes size, pants, blouses etc. that i should wear. Just too "shy" to look around the stores, not knowing where to shop. Hey, I live in Syracuse, NY - want to go shopping w/me next weekend . My clothes are so big on me now, need new ones, no nerve yet, but i'll get there. take care kathy
