Dr. Oz On Tv Right Now Promoting Gastric Bipass Surgery
ProudGrammy replied to NDN_RN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
don't agree with what others have posted- he always says he never promotes things on tv or in magazines. if theres a picture of him by a product - his picture was put there with out his knowledge/consent in the same respect if the producer came to him with a subject like the bypass - if he didn't approve, i think he would make an arguement to the producer - and not have that subject on the show - i think he's very ethical - not like the Maury show, i don't watch that by the way i turned the show on at 4:15 when i saw the post, i did enjoy the show this is IMO call me gullable or naive, but i really believe in him kathy -

kimberlee venting is always allowed here, important to get stuff off your chest not to be rude or unsupportive.............. IMO you should have been the one to leave. Is it fair to ask maybe 6 other girls to move because you are having a problem with what they are eating. so IMO you (one person) should be the one to change rooms.- not 6 others in a group, my thoughts only, sorry - still luv ya

Concerned About Fast Weight Loss-11 Days Post-Op
ProudGrammy replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shape_Shifter dealing with these problems being 11 days out time is on your side, you should feel better a little at a time You are tired due to the fact that you are not eating or drinking must get in Fluid - otherwise you will get dehydrated, you are probably there already, end up in the hospital with an IV (happened to me) talk to your dr. about getting anti nausea, vomitting drug - Zofran for example dr. needs to be aware your problems, maybe will have labs done feel better soon kathy -

Worried About Stretching: Is It Easy Or Hard To Do?
ProudGrammy replied to WLJourneyJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
katie its nice to hear someone else talk about measuring per volume not oz - i know all NUTS are different, but I was told to always measure/eat per volume when i met w/my NUT prior to WLS - she instilled in me to eat per volume only, i was allowed 1/3 cup after my different stage- about 5 months later i was allowed 2/3 cup woopie my weight loss is slowing down now, but at goal i will probably be allowed 1 cup i was told never measure according to oz Carol, back to you per my NUT a sleeve can not stretch when I was a Newbie - I was afraid if i ate 2 bites extra - oh nol - look out - or if i ate too fast, or if i didn't chew enough- I ws a nervous wreck If I just looked at a cookie, OMG, i would gain 15 lbs - and bye bye sleeve our sleeves should last a lifetime - unless certain exceptions i guess (don't know exactly know what they are) , just covering my ass don't stress yourself kathy -

Carb Cravings 14 Weeks Post Op Yikes Help
ProudGrammy replied to carol m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
carol m You are close/approaching goal sometimes unintentially people sabatoge themselves, because they are scared of being successful. you have done so great, don't stop now possibly because your scared about "winning". you have a ways to go, but you'll get there in time - you do need carbs and sugar, but be careful I know you want to continue to become a winner, but also to become a big "loser" good luck you can do this -

musasas my dr. never told me to stop w/the soda and caffine/ or smoking. - IMO it does make sense to stop the above i was never a smoker/coffee /caffein/ soda drinker - my addiction was strictly eating many sleevers are advised against all of the above i believe coffee is a diaretic/ i think the carbanation in soda effects the stomach in an adverse way - smoking is self explanatory I wouldn't "flame" you or anyone about smoking. We both know the pitfalls - I congratulate you on getting down to 10 cigarettes a day - thats great smoking is chemical addiction that must be difficult to stop IMO opinion continueing to work on decreasing/stop smoking before your WLS 9/10/12 would be beneficial to you. Hard to do, but important. You will be dealing with your eating/drinking immediately after WLS- working on one addiction is very hard, but working on other addictions too like the carbanated drinks and smoking at the same time would be harder the final word about smoking vs not smoking will be from your surgeon - it is important for him to know that you are a smoker - whether you need to entirely stop or not before WLS Good luck to you about all concerned with smoking/soda/caffein - these are important matters that must be discussed before WLS with your surgeon i hope i was tactful/delicate enough about all of the above esp. the smoking - good luck on that September 10th will be the start of a new healthier/ happier life good luck with your WLS kathy
